    Great video makes everything easy to see and understand - only thing im not getting is how does the old box actually send power up to the new box? From what I see the original box is disconnected from its power source then wired up to the new outlet but the power source is never reconnected? Im sure I missed something but I’ve rewatched and am stumped…. How do the outlets connect to power?
    Thanks for the informative channel!

      Yep I definitely didn't make that one too clear! Sorry about that, but yes the original power source is reconnected to the old outlet along with the run to the new outlet.

      @@HouseholdHowTo So do you need a 3 wire push in connector? Hot line split to both old outlet and new outlet?

    Why use the pigtails? Couldn't you just attach the new wire directly to the old outlet?

    The video needs to be renamed. "... THROUGH A STUD, BY A STUD"

    ...and the antenna run for non-streaming services (OTA HD)? HDMI run for consoles and such?

    Did you know in advance that you did not have a fire block in wall cavity where you ran the new Romex?

      I didn't! It was one of those "cross your fingers" kind of moments.

      you can run a stud finder up and down the wall and see if there is a fire block.

    Why did you use a 3 port in sure connector and not a 2 port?

      Just what I had left in the bag. Would have used a two if I had one on hand!

    Is there a way to do this if the nearest outlet is more than one stud away from where the tv outlet will go?

    • @HouseholdHowTo
      @HouseholdHowTo  2 роки тому +4

      I would remove the baseboard, drop the wire down from the existing outlet and along the bottom of the wall over to where you need it. Taking the baseboard off should give you just enough space to drill a hole through the studs to pass the wire through, and you wont see a thing once the trim goes back on.

      All of our content is from streaming services, and this TV is smart so fortunately for us, no dealing with coaxial cable for us!

      I'm thinking of doing something similar for my TV, thanks for the inspiration! I similarly have a cable and power outlet between a stud like that, I'm thinking of having one box behind the tv that'll have everything. Perhaps even fish HDMI cables too. 😄

    You used 14 guage wire. Assuming 15 amp breaker. How dangerous is it for someone to run 14 guage if they had 20 Amp circuit?
    Also why not include that info?
