- IF YOU LOVED THIS VIDEO. YOU WILL LOVE MY CHANNEL. Lots of old VHS camcorder videos from 1988 thru 90s and 2000s decade!
This is my famous video from Aug 6, 1989. When my old neighbor borrowed my VHS camcorder to record the typical cruising at Legg Lake Whittier CA,
Over time, cruising became banned because of heavy traffic for which was a concern from emergency vehicles not being able to pass by in emergencies
God Bless the man who shot this video and God Bless the man who didn't record over this tape. So I can show my kids that our life really WAS a movie!
Word
The best!😢
Classic car culture here, no dumb burnouts, takeovers, doing dumb stuff on tiktok, no mustangs drifting into crowds, or Dodge Hellcats speeding from the police and crashing.
Rare to see an actually civilized car culture going on here!
It's a good one too
Was thinking the same thing, we went out back in the day to cruise, show off our cars, meet ladies, no fighting, just some good sane fun!!! We are very much civilized back then compared to these young losers of today.
What's missing from the crowd?
@@Mymenagerie714 mayates?
No street takeovers, just cruising.
The smartphone has made us dumb. people used to connect and talk without distractions.
Great video. Thank you Gilbert!
Throw your phone away & let’s see how long you can live without it🤔
@@RamsLakersDodgersnot the point dp sht
Did you use a smartphone to do your post? 😂😂😂
@@Mr-ClarkThank you!!!!
@Mr-Clark
Well, cell phones before the smartphone era had bare minimum features and there were still nice concerts thrown about. People didn't have those as a distraction and as a result thieves and criminals target unsuspecting people staring at their phones. This is just one of many bad examples of the smartphones. I think cell phones without the major apps were the best. You can still text, message and go to the internet. Just without the other problem apps.
Everyone is looking up, no phones lol. Epic great times.
The 80s and 90s were the pinnacle of human history... its all been down hill since.
👍 I'm telling ya
300A.D were the days
It’s gonna get worse!
Who you telling, man I miss these innocent, more moral days.
No joke
This video is a true time capsule. Thanks for sharing….brings back so many great memories. My brother had a 1989 Ford Escort GT with 18” woofers. Those were the days.
I remember those times, Sunday afternoons, the cars crossing with loud music from the 80s and 90s, Family pick nick, bottle beers, red cup with drinks, the paisas playing volleyball at the grass , Carne azada, paleteros......Thanks for sharing
Greatest UA-cam video of all time.
Those were the days!!! I was 17 in 1989. im from orange county we had crusing areas down bristol st in santa ana, centential park, newport beach pier and other spots around the oc area cant remember the name . this video brings back a lot of memories of that era.. the cars, the music, the clothes, the haircuts lol. definitely one of my favoite you tube videos. wish i could find more you tube videos like these from that time but they are rare.
same age. but nyc. a movie was made about our scene in queens, ny. Called "Cruise." Emily Ratajokowski
@@magamaga1827 ive seen that movie, great soundtrack
The 80s and 90s were the good ol times
The ole ways of hooking up. No phones or internet
YOU ARE A REAL TIME MACHINE GILBERT "I'M TELLIN YA"
Brother, thank you for posting this gem 💎 These were the best times. You truly had to live it to understand it🙏🏽
I can smell the Aquanet through the computer screen. 😁
And the Giorgio lol
My 2 sisters kept that company in business.
Don't forget that Toxic smell from rubber soles on Pro Wings.
Remember the cans with 30% more 🧐😎😂🤣
@@1Chosen247 or the Pee Chee folders turned inside out to put beer labels or party flyers with the pictures of models
Thanks for sharing your video with us, I must admit I have tears in my eyes watching it because I miss the 70’s & 80’s immensely. This video shows how society was more social & the people talking to one another & not staring at a cellphone & all we see are the tops of people’s heads.
The 80s and the 90s was the best times in LA!!
same in ny
Precious memories! thanks for sharing this time capsule ❤
Awesome video! Reminds me of my youth...love all thel cars music and clothing style from that era.
Life was awesome back then! No cell or even beepers to distract us from enjoying life! Those were the good ol days! I’m grateful that I got to live them!
The girls were so pretty
All natural females not trying to look like men. Also the women are actually smiling.
@@LosDoyerss😂 you think women are trying to look like men? Just generally, huh? Man.
Hard to believe the average person in this video is someone's grandma or grandpa in 2024.
And about 200 lbs heavier
@@RS-do6tv but they still more fit than the iphone generation 😂
eh, not really. i'm 51. was 17 in 1989
So true😂 this is practically a video of my youth 😅 time does not stand still😢
@@magamaga1827 i was 18 in 1989 , today 53 and i'm not a father much less a grandpa ..no kids ' no wife ' no problems
Yoooo! That’s crazy that part of Rosemead Bl. In Pico Rivera looks exactly the same today. Wow hard to believe you filmed this 35 years ago.
This isn't Pico Rivera.
I remember going to Legg Lake around that time with my older brother. 4x4s, mini trucks, street bikes and freestyle. Awesome memories of the late 80s🔥🔥
I love this era in my life. Now I need to go listen to some Stevie B
Thank you for the time capsule. I miss mini trucks.
You’re right Gilbert this is YOUR famous cruising video from the 80s that I have seen all over the Internet but as long as they give you credit, that’s what matters. By the way…..not one single seatbelt in sight
Bro!! Awesome memories. I'm from the Bay Area ( Santa Clara , CA ) and back in the day we use to cruise EL Camino and Story and King ( Santa Clara and San Jose Ca ) Appreciate a FLASH FROM THE PAST!!!! we all need to do it agian !!!! RESPECT!!!
I remember sering the cruisers years ago driving up Rosemead Blvd. when this was happening. What strikes me now as cooi is you could show up in just an economy car and it was okay. I see some Hyundai Excels, a few Nissan Sentras, and even a Geo Metro. It didn't seem to matter what you drove, you were part of the group. The music takes ne back. We hear a little Milli Vanilli at 14:00, thrn Young MC's "Bust A Move" after that. So 1989! Hard to believe it's been thirty five years!
Great times 90s miss those days
man, i wish i lived in the 80s at times. these videos are so good!
This was Cali when I was 18. So chill and fine! Love these cars!!
Riding motorcycles with no helmet and riding in the back of the pickup truck. True freedom..
It’s surprising how many drivers noticed the camera back then, also I forgot how many cars didn’t have automatic headlights yet
This is where a lot of people met their wives and husbands
What in the Pontiac Fiero, Ford Escort, Nissan and Mazda everything is this fine piece of history ? 😂
Who from here still has their 80’s and 90’s ride for cruising and what was it? I still have my original 80 Chevy Luv, lowerred with some Enkei rims and some low profiles tires.
Daamn the cars looked so solid and metallic and good looking not like now that they make them cheap and mostly plastic it looks like a shell with the wheels not even aligned with the body they mostly always too inside from the side fenders
🧐🤔 ..YEAH BUDDY, 16 YEARS OLD !!! …MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT BACK THEN.. ..IT WAS A TIME THAT WAS ‘MODERN’ ENOUGH BUT STILL SO RELATIVELY SIMPLE AND ‘NO NONSENSE’ AS WELL..
🤩YOU COULDN’T TELL US SHHT !!!🤩
No cell phones 😂 passing notes in class😂😂
No texting had to write girls phone numbers on our hands and hoped you didnt wash the hand or hold the cold beer with the number
Miss the 90s and early 2000's
Have to ask, how did you manage to capture so many timeless memories?!🥲 These were the best times to be alive in Cali!🥺😿
This video will never get old💪🏽
Awesome video Gilbert!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🎶🎵 We need to put the soundtrack in this video together…there were only a few Freestyle songs I wasn’t familiar with
Brings back good memories of 88 89 crusin with my friend Eric's older brother in his mini truck. He would take us to Story and King in San Jo and El Camino un Santa Clara. We would throw our BMX bike's inthe back so we could ride around the cruises. Best of times
We’ve been dehumanized since those days. Some how we gotta find our way back.
Times where if you had a car and were able to make it to these events, you were the man!
It’s nice to see peaceful people not lost In a phone. 👍🏽
Man right before the earthquake
Yep , can’t forget that shit😂Damn
Northridge? That was five years later.
Thumbs up to those of us who graduated in 1989.
Back when humanity was normal
When people weren’t self absorbed on materialistic stuff! Just having innocent fun!
I had a 86 Mazda mini & was in a truck club we wen to events all over like Resolutions it was such a great time & I have nothing but great memories. 👍
its been a few years, but I use to live to hit BBQs and hanging out at Legg Lake in the 90s and early/mid 2000s.
My club threw a BBQ there a few years bacc also.
Great times and memories. Im glad you saved this treasured piece of history!
No nonsense!!!❤80 The Best!!
the coolest. oh to go back!
it was beautiful back then wow
These are dope old school videos
Bad ass tapes you have, glad you’re digitizing everything, time capsules for sure
Cool beans 😀
Time travel is so much fun ❤
Nissan Sentras are the shiz of those days.
I was one of those kids brought out cruising to Legg Lake by my parents or 5 crazy aunts. At 43 I still like to party lol.
My dad was there somewhere with his VW van. This is when Whittier wasn’t riddled with crime. The 80’s and 90’s were the best times…
Cars had better shapes that the cars now.Toyotas, Hondas, Nissan,Etc they all look the same now.
Make America 80s again, bring them pastel duds back.
And *great again. The people you've been voting for in California has taken these away.
I was around 21 at the time. This brings back so many memories.
I miss these freestyle days. My old gf had some frizzy ass hair.
Damn nissan sentras were popular in the 80s
Oh man, this is so great. I was 17 summer of 89 and cruiesed all the time in NYC area on a place called Francis Lewis Blvd. There's lots of youtube vids about it. Even a movie was made about my area back then called "Cruise." It starred Emily Ratakowski. Kids today will never know what a social scene we had back in the day.
Queens?
@@chewybunz yep
@@magamaga1827 I lived in Springfield Gardens and remember the boulevard.
Some people didn't even wear seat belts. What a peculiar era!
Need to bring back the Suzuki Side Kick! I always wanted one and a Mazda B2000 truck. This brought me back to Junior High School Daze
MAAAAAN! TAKE ME BACK TO THE GREAT DAYS!!! I WAS GONNA BE 19 ON THE 18TH UUUUUH! GREAT VIDEO!
I remember that song at 9:50, is Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two
Thanks for the flashback!👍👍
My cousin Noel and his friend george did the filming I knew george, who can't forget that crazy curly hairstyle he had Jessie and Noel and his friend george, they worked with me at LONGO TOYOTA that's how I met george... we all hung out
a lot back in the 90s..
That was a day Noel used to borrow my VHS camcorder sometimes! One time, he borrowed my camera again to record some car show. But they did not allow any cameras. He got very disappointed as he had to put the camera back in his car.
@@fueledbymusic3 tilling ya!
Man I swear I was there then. Brings back memories. Last night I was in Whittier and Pennsylvania for a mini truck taco Tuesday meet with New Era minis. Envy us minis and just for looks was there
That V Dub was on a whole different level! 👌
Wow I noticed everyone was slim and trim. Not like today. 😅
I was telling my son the same thing. Back then we ate anything and everything but the food was better quality. Now 45% of kids are gorditos and unhealthy.
Great vlog 👌🏻❤️
My buddy was part of the truck club Assorted Toyz and my wife had friends from the truck club Desirable Onez… crazy that there was an actual video
The good days lost ,, will never be the same SO CA FOR LIFE 🤙
The Power 106 "top-of-the-hour" ID at 9:14 and the gas prices at 15:58---LEGENDARY.
Whittier High class of ‘04. Used to live off Broadway and Pickering. Live in OC now but still love visiting uptown with the wife to have dinner and drinks.
KMC WHEELS WERE IT BACK THEN
And lorinser hammers
I remember riding my bike there and seeing all the cars and even when they had the mini truck meetings at Golfland. Good times
Hey Gil, ur channel was mentioned nd recommended for this cruising video by "L.A. Confidential" back like a month or two.
Check out L.A. Confidential for some lowriders or just rides cruising in Live stream.
👍✌️
Kids dont drive cars nowdays. They ride ebikes, escooters or take public transportation. To save the environment 😂 👌
Wow i would have love to be a teen at that moment. Everyone is so fit
The good old days.
Song @4:00 Milli Vanilli "I'm Gonna Miss You"
Everybody’s just chilling having a good time, not acting like idiots!
15 years before I was born august 6 2004 time flew one way or the other 😭
🙏🙌❤😍 I was a freshman!
Why is there no one staring down at there phones and just paying attention to people and cars??? Wait there were no phones and social media, there was actual following and liking going on 🤯🤯🤯
All rods in this classic video RULE, but it's the '64 VW Beetle at 5:13 and the '89 Nissan Pulsar at 5:54 that DID IT for me...
You uploaded this video back in 2012
The song at 14:00 I still play in my vehicle and yet I wasn’t even alive back then 😅 - Don’t forget my number
the one in this video is a rare remix version.
I was 19 at that time loved cruzing in my 87 candyapple red lifted hardbody with 15 x 10 KMC s blasting hard bass from my alpine system
Thats when life was good and fun
After sunset, Legg Lake featured a different sort of "cruising", hehehe!!
