A little correction (?) about INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS "still hold the copyright for Fire Emblem" (~2:41). IIRC they didn't at first; around 1996 Nintendo transferred 50% ownership of several IPs to them. This is mentioned in the Kaga lawsuit.

I think Nintendo's relationship with their partner studios (Intelligent in particular) shows just how differently they conduct business compared to the other big companies. If this was Microsoft or Sony they would've acquired Intelligent and friends long ago (and made a big deal about it too)

Something I want to point out is that while there hasn't been a new Syle Savvy game on Switch, the developers of that series did release Fashion Dreamer in 2023. Which seems to be a spiritual successor to the Style Savvy series. If that should count is up to you.
Good point. I haven't played either but in a previous comments section some fans of both games felt they were quite different even though in the same broad category.
If I recall correctly, Fire Emblem Three Houses, the game was developed with a small IS team, but the brunt of the game was made with Koei Tecmo staff (I'd say that, lest I mixed with some other information, with the Gust team).
Edit: No, I'm not talking about the Fire Emblem Warriors games. Those definitely have the Koei Tecmo brand, and were done by Omega Force. No, I'm talking specifically about Three Houses.
Fire Emblem Three Houses was developed by Kou Shibusawa, not Gust. Gust has yet to work on any Nintendo property besides the Fatal Frame updated releases.
If Intelligent Systems next Fire Emblem is like engage, then Koie Tecmo should make their own clone of fire emblem three houses. And I don't mean Three Hopes, I mean a turn based strategy rpg with awesome combat animations, good romance and amazing story and soundtrack.
Great video, I watched the original version before you put this one up. I have a suggestion to make. Since you work from a script from what I can tell, it seems like you could make captions for your videos without too much extra work on your end. I hope you consider it, I would really appreciate it!

I think you missed the point that intelligent systems also developed hardware and dev kits for nintendo like the NTR dev kit for the DS

One thing about comparing Three Houses and Paper Mario credits to see if the teams overlap: A lot of the development staff on Three Houses came not from Nintendo or Intelligent Systems, but Koei Tecmo. I would expect Three Houses staff to not have much overlap with Intelligent System's other titles due to the KT presence. What if you compared Engage with the Warioware or paper mario? Would there be more overlap there?

Great vid again 👌 Could you deepdive into Ninty's stock profile? it seems like the last 10 years has seen a major shift in the correlation curves, and it's not easy to see how much of it is due to diversification or external forces like the yen. right now it's in a backslide, and though i think it's largely artificial/temporary, it would be nice to gain an understanding of the stock spirit in your analytical terms 😊
Very interesting idea. It might be a while as there's quite a lot to consider here but I'll definitely look into this.
@nintendoforecast I could see why it would, but would love it. There's one thing for sure: Ninty's stock used to be primarily correlated with hardware, but I think that's changed. it's gone from being spikey to being bulbous, and that looks like an elevated noise floor from a signals analysis perspective. Not saying it's no longer hardware correlated, just less so. to me, it's another poignant example of the company's soul taking on a new dynamic, and could be good predictive data for the next 10 years. maybe that helps in triaging your content priority list 👍

He called the emancipation proclamation a war measure to be reversed later (yes, union slave states like NJ didn't free their slaves). It's good that he was erm... "recalled". Actual abolitionists could then end slavery. However, out of principle, I believe in secession. If Bavaria in Germany, Britanny in France or Scotland in the UK want to, I am for a democratic vote. If Texas or California wanted in America, yes please.
IMO Kabushiki mochiai (cross shareholding) is much better than buying up the corporations and turn them into slaves.

@@nintendoforecast Yeah i wasn't very clear. In my head i remember how nintendo was close to cancel mario striker wii because the devs were showing an angry side of nintendo's characters and how miyamoto was totally angainst it.
Also how majora's mask was really strange and unique for the nintendo universe. But more and more nintendo games seems to embrace the dark side fully like with bowser fury, the splatoon universe, the latest zelda botw & totk ...
I don't know maybe it's just me but i feel that the new generation of developper at nintendo are really shaking things up in the last ten years. Like on one side the old devs with their happy friendly approach and the younger devs with a more edgy dark approach.
There is also this feeling that nintendo's game are growing with me as i'm now getting closer to 40 yo, the themes i'm interested now seems to align with the new generation of games.

i still hope for the day intelligent systems decides to move on from nintendo and become their own game dev and releases their games on pc even though that'll never happen
still way more plausible than nintendo ever doing it though. they keep everything they own wrapped around their fingers and scoff at the idea of releasing games on other platforms or even allowing characters to be physically visible unless you pay for their weak outdated breaks-from-a-drop console
i'd never consider myself a fan of them, only intelligent systems as paper mario and metroid are their only ips i care about (fire emblem too if that's not owned by IS, which i thought it was). the only thing i could ever respect them for is apparently having a really great workplace, and they make sure studios they own (aside from retro i guess) also treat their employees well, which is really good considering japan's crunch culture. i don't take my hatred of nintendo that seriously to the point where i'd wish people be hurt or fired, but i loathe just about every decision they make, and i wish such a large company being the face of gaming showed real competency outside of sales

True, another thing I want to know is how HAL is able to pump out so many Kirby games in such a short about of time, though that might be because Kirby is their main series and they don’t really have another major series
What I love about HAL is that they got thier properties straight, 2 of the best game devs came from it, there not lazy nor greedy and they don't treat there customers like a number/assit.
Next one of these is EPD 9, the Mario Kart team which is done and will be out sometime next week. I will get to Hal but it'll be a few weeks at least.

Fire Emblem characters are mostly semi clones though
@@Wario1382 Marth, Ike, Robin, Corrin, and Byleth are all completely unique. I think Roy is also differentiated enough now to count him as separate, too.

When I developed 3DS games - most of my development hardware was labeled “Intelligent Systems”. So they have made tools as of very recently. Can’t comment on Switch hardware kits.
Nintendo isn't buying Intelligent systems because they are going to buy square enix....BET
My only hope in this scheme is that squenix was looking for sony to acquire them during the Activision purchase but sony shut down the agreement fearing it wouldn't look good during the court case.
Just remember originally square might not have wanted to put final fantasy on the PS, they made a demo for the n64 but square couldn't deny the advantages of the compact disc

Weak take. Nintendo didn't have to buy Next Level Games but they still did. Why they haven't bought out this company is def a mystery.
And yet, after all that history, Nintendo didn't trust ID enough with Paper Mario and made the dumb rule to not create individual characters, only generic toads to "protect" the IP🙄🙄🙄
That wasn't instilled by Nintendo.
That was a rule that Tanabe went by due to a major misunderstanding from Miyamoto to make characters "more Mario-like."
I am playing Super Paper Mario and... The characters are too weird to a Mario game.
