    Filled with deliciously fragrant mincemeat, glorious frangipane centre and topped with flaked almonds, these Christmas buns are a decadent treat like no other!

    I'm confused, is mincemeat Irish for raisins? 😕

      It's a mixture of raisins, currants, candied orange/lemon peel, apple, sugar, brandy, nutmeg and suet (there are lots of variations on that basic recipe!) Like a sweet chutney kind of thing if that helps? It's usually made in advance and left to mature for a few weeks. If someone in the UK or Ireland offers you a mince pie at Christmas, it won't have meat in it (confusing, I know :) )

    The frangipane looks easy to make, but I don't know how to use it. I don't like raisins

      Do freakin cranberries/figs/candized fruits your liking.

    If you try making this recipe with the sort of mincemeat you might find in a jar in the UK, the dough will be impossibly wet. Just had to chuck the whole batch into the bin. On looking carefully at the video, what Patrick is tipping into the dough is a mixture of dried fruit (sultanas, raisin, candies peel etc.), definitely NOT mincemeat, which is soft and gooey. So beware...

    Vertical shorts don't do justice to your expertise. I stopped watching after 6 seconds. I'd appreciate seeing a proper video of this recipe.
