Smallest correction: In the transformation scene, the prince isn't always there. Right before he's revealed he is raised through the floor which you can see if you look extremely closely. Great coverage of the ride, haven't seen a video going into that much detail of the ride on UA-cam before. I will have to say that I disagree when you say the trackless vehicles' dynamic nature add a lot to the ride. Personally, I think it adds more negative space and emptiness to the ride rather than adding anything else. Unlike Winnie the Poo in Tokyo and Mystic Manor in Hong Kong, this ride doesn't really understand the usage of trackless vehicles. Trackless vehicles are designed to explore and bring life to a specific scene in a room with multiple scenes, not rotate around a single scene. I didn't think the ride was bad by any means, however, I think the Imagineers are relying too much on technology to tell a story rather than using it as a device to help improve the story.
I think there's more than one way to use trackless vehicles. I see this ride as a close cousin of shows like Carousel of Progress and America Sings. However, instead of the audience rotating around the show scenes, the audience moves through the show scenes, giving it a modern twist. But fundamentally, this is an animatronic show with multiple scenes.
@@electronics-girl There absolutely is more than one way to use trackless vehicles, the problem is you need to work around their issues in order for them to work. It doesn't work perfectly, but it solves a major issue with trackless vehicles and negative space. I can see what you're saying with Carousel of Progress and America Sings, but it doesn't solve the core issue with trackless vehicles, negative space. Every ride vehicle has its positives as well as its negatives, the key is to identify a ride vehicle that brings the most positives to a ride while introducing the least amount of negatives. CoP and AS direct your attention to the center stage and, unless the guest looks around, always face the guest in one direction regardless of whether the stage is turning or not. Beauty and the Beast on the other hand spins around but does so without paying attention to the surrounding area. Look at the "something there" scene for example. They spin guests around and run them around the room which is cool, but it detracts from the storytelling since there are only two points of interest in the scene - Belle and the Beast. In the movie, there is large a focus on body movement, eyes, and gestures (on top of the music) to tell a story, but in the ride, you are either too far away from the scene or too busy spinning that it becomes extremely hard to tell the same story unless you're familiar with the movie. thank you for this video, I went yesterday, and I was moved to absolute tears. I grew up next to Anaheim Disneyland so I’ve been going my whole life and I’ve never seen anything like this. Disney just took it to a whole other level with this ride. it was intimate, magical and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m on vacation in Tokyo and instead of going out to see the sights. I am on videos like this. Going down the rabbit hole lol thank you so much for creating this. This was an absolute magical Disney moment w the wow x10000 factor.
I think it will be worth the trip once Fantasy Springs arrives at Tokyo Disneysea, and possibly by then the borders will have opened up. I certainly wouldn’t mind if technology also advances to the point of providing real-time translations so I can understand exactly what’s being said during the rides, one of the only downsides of the parks. While I realize that Disney has a great many more projects going simultaneously than Oriental Land Company, they really should watch and learn from the business model that they use; investing *more* into the development and quality of the parks is sometimes the best way to get more income coming out of them in the long run. Disney’s current strategy seems to be to invest as little as possible into the parks while shaking down the wallets of park goers of every last cent, and paying cast members and even imagineers as little as possible. Rides build up anticipation, but once experienced underwhelm, and try the patience of previous Disneyphiles to the point of them canceling vacations in protest. Oriental Land Company seems to understand Walt Disney’s vision and the key to his magic in a way that the current Disney corporate leadership has forgotten and, more importantly, they truly appreciate the imagineers, and give them all the funding they need to fully realize their creative vision to its ultimate extent; once again taking our breath away.
I almost wish that all of the Disney parks were independently owned, with The Walt Disney Company just providing licensing and Imagineering. It's a model which has worked well in Japan, although I don't know if it would work as well elsewhere, or if there's something unique about the Oriental Land Company. I also don't know if there are differences in American and Japanese business culture that make American companies more focused on short-term profits, and Japanese companies more focused on long-term growth.
Just playing devil's advocate here but why should Disney invest any more money into their US parks? The rubes keep coming anyway, no matter how bad they get and how much they cost!
I wish they would add more to the outdoor snow scene. Maybe they could other characters watching/dancing in the background? Maybe snow projections on the walls? There's just so much space and I wish they would utilize it.
Great video, although I do want to point out that the prince is not always there during the transformation, he comes up out of a lift in the ground. If you look at the beast closely you can see him coming up. Anyways, great video keep up the good work!
I'm absolutely baffled by this ride. I can not tell which things are animatronic and how these things look both 2D and 3D.. is it holograms? And I'm utterly impressed that they managed to avoid the uncanny valley, these animatronics look fantastic!
The Prince isn't there in the scene. He comes up out of the floor. It's clear it's rising in the footage you show. You can also search for footage of his head sticking out during a ride stop. Copy and paste this UA-cam title into the search bar for footage - 【美女と野獣 魔法のものがたり】野獣さん、王子に戻り損ねる
This attraction needs to replace the Be our Guest restaurant and the Enchanted Tale with Belle because this attraction is so amazing and it has the Glamor Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom needs
They'll replace whatever doesn't make money so I don't see it replacing the restaurant. Restaurants and space for merchandising is great when you think about it: guests don't have to queue or ride rides to be entertained. Disney just gets to milk them for more cash. Tomorrow Land should make a ride for the fat-future-scooters from Wall-E where people can buy food bags. I would think they'd put it in World Showcase France but that already has Ratatouille. Hollywood Studios maybe? Anyway it would have to replace something that doesn't make money or distract people.
I appreciated this video. I think that while the technology and work that went into the ride is impressive, the ride lingers way too long on only a handful of scenes. You just find yourself going in circles around whatever centerpiece a sequence has. It's beautifully done, but it's hard not to wish they could have built something more than what amounts to a series of rooms with songs and "dancing" vehicles. I like Mystery Manor because it balances the classic linear elements of a dark ride while letting trackless technology augment the experience into something unexpected.
I go to Disney Tokyo regularly and I have mixed feelings about this ride. The queue is amazing and the last scene is pure Disney Magic (it really hits you). However, some of the areas are pretty....bland. It mostly feels like a warehouse with some animatronics here and there (to the screens with plates in the first room are just atrocious). Still, the ride system is great and the music carries the experience.
it would be better with bigger ceilings and the lighting fixtures hidden with scenery ; the reason haunted mansion rides can get away with small rooms is because it's dark so people don't notice it
Yeah that's my issue with trackless rides. Always feels too open. With tracked rides all the scenery surrounds a much smaller footprint. I'd rather be able to see where the ride is going to go than see a mass expanse of grey concrete.
Love this video! but I don't think the Prince is there when the transformation is happening. You can see a small circular door open from the floor and the animatronic rises from down there.
those animatronics look insane. really goe to show how much rides can do with animatronics nowadays and how theme parks shouldnt have to overly rely on screen and projectors to bring their effects into the ride
I’ve been to Disney Sea in Tokyo and really enjoyed it. The attractions are well done and visually beautiful. Next time I visit Japan I will definitely go on the Beauty and the Beast ride.
FYI, there's a video in which the beast transformation where the prince actually comes from the hole below. There's even another video in which the prince comes partially up. Just wanted you to be aware if you create future videos to state that the prince isn't "hovering" in the area the entire time.
I must admit that I'm not a fan of theme parks nor Disney, but I really love your videos because they explain the actual concepts behind the rides and I find the engineering employed to create the rides to be fascinating. I dislike how many traditional European folktales have been consumed by Disney, but as long as they are kept alive, that's all that matters. Thanks for your videos ReviewTyme, hello from Western Australia :)
I live in Japan and was able to ride this last February (2023). It was incredible. I am by no means a Beauty and the Beast fanatic; I know the story, that's about it. But it was such an amazing ride, the effects and tricks were beyond belief. It honestly felt very magical, OLC did such a good job on the ride.
I really hope I can go one day and enjoy this ride. This is my favorite movie and I love Tokyo 💕 It would be wonderful to combine my favorite things in the same adventure. thanks for the excellent video!!!
This is incredible. This is what a Disney attraction should be. Full of animatronics instead of high tech screens. Can't wait for the Fantasy Spring attractions.
This is worth a trip to Tokyo Disneyland, yes!! Wow!! When disney lets imaginnears actually do what they do best this is what can be done! Unfortunately for us in the states they’ve taken that element out - too focused on their failing streaming service that they believe is far more lucrative than the parks. They’ll be back at it though- just not sure how long
I rode this recently. And its now i think my 2nd fave disney ride ever!! I was amazed! Hope I can return to the Tokyo Disney parks someday! And also get to the California, paris, hong king, and shanghai parks in my lifetime!
You're a little wrong on the transformation scene. The prince animatronic isn't always there you can see it rising from a trap door during the spinning beast
Glad to see that Tokyo Disneyland decided to have a Beauty and the Beast ride! Glad that they decided to build an actual meticulously detailed to house the attraction too, unlike the Magic Kingdom’s Beast’s Castle, which relies way too much on forced perspective and only houses a restaurant(not gonna lie,the restaurant’s Interior is quite beautiful!). I really hope to ride this attraction one day! However,my favourite Disney dark ride is still Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland (which you did a great review on!).
Your explanation of the transformation effect is great! I LOLed at the line “basically some lights and mirrors”, what about the phenomenal animatronics? 😎
After seeing the Disney tokyo presentation in the china pavilion at Epcot, I decided that I definitely want to check it out at some point. It seems too incredible to miss!!!
Some people may say it’s bland or boring and yes the snow scene is a bit long, and it doesn’t give you the hype like Rise of the Resistance. But as a BB fan, ballroom dancing experience with the characters for a full chorus was pretty amazing and it’d be romantic if you sit next to someone you care about. If you’re like a pure-hearted BB enthusiast, come to Tokyo! I’m sure you’ll be moved.
Why those two massively expensive ad boring events? XD I'd love to visit a Tezuka museum or something. Along with a bunch of other franchises that came from Japan.
I’ve been on this ride 50 times and still want to do it again. One thing I wish Reviewtyme had talked about was how Imagineers first proposed Oriental Land Company to build an Alice in Wonderland dark ride in front of the Tea Cups and to the left of the Queen of Hearts restaurant. For those who don’t know, this is where It’s A Small World is located. OLC’s plan was to RELOCATE Its A Small World to where the current Forest Theater is now. The open space would be used for the new Alice Ride, creating a mini Alice in Wonderland area within Fantasy Land. There’s oficial concept art released by OLC. In the end, OLC decided to order the Beauty and the Beast ride. At the time the ride opened, OLC released a promotional video where the CEO talks about how the company’s latest strategy is to be “The Only One”. This policy means that OLC is now interested in only building original rides to attract foreign tourists. Just see what happened with Tokyo’s Space Mountain. The ride will close to give way to an original concept. There’s Fantasy springs, which looks like will open with THREE original E ticket attractions. The future sure is exciting!
thank you for this. 🤗 that looks like a most awesome ride.... more of an experience, really. no, i wouldn't go to tokyo to see it but i can appreciate the artistry of it from your video. 💕 and thank you for telling us how they did it, 'cause you KNOW i was wondering! 😱
I watched a ride through when this first opened and wasn't really impressed. But I seemed to have completely missed the transformation scene and also the queue. This is much more impressive than it first appeared.
$200 million is an incredible figure for just 1 ride. Was there something else included to justify the cost? It looks absolutely incredible but I can't help but feel like it's a of money for a single ride. Love your videos! Keep up the excellent work 🙂
Well thank you thoroughly enjoyed the execution and storytelling of the narrator. And yes Dom ,I'd love to go and experience it myself .Maybe one day my dreams will come true.😘
OMG this looks absolutely gorgeous! 🤩😃 As someone who grew up with this movie (and many other Disney Princess movies) I'm not gonna lie, seeing Belle & The Beast come alive like this...got me a little emotional🥺. They look as alive as they felt to me when I was a kid, honestly Walt Disney would be so proud!🤗🥰

Whatever
The rubes keep coming anyway, no matter how bad they get and how much they cost!
love this ride, especially the transformation... very impressive
Truly phenomenal! That transformation sequence alone would be worth the price of admission.
I truly hope this comes to Anaheim when fantasyland is rebooted eventually
This attraction needs to replace the Be our Guest restaurant and the Enchanted Tale with Belle because this attraction is so amazing and it has the Glamor Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom needs
Or the Princess Fairy Tale Hall or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train… just a suggestion ofc
@@NinthShinigami I do like Seven dwarfs mine train attraction so it should stay
They'll replace whatever doesn't make money so I don't see it replacing the restaurant. Restaurants and space for merchandising is great when you think about it: guests don't have to queue or ride rides to be entertained. Disney just gets to milk them for more cash. Tomorrow Land should make a ride for the fat-future-scooters from Wall-E where people can buy food bags.
I would think they'd put it in World Showcase France but that already has Ratatouille. Hollywood Studios maybe? Anyway it would have to replace something that doesn't make money or distract people.
@@otomicans6580 Not a lot of people like the Enchanted tale with Belle attraction
It sounds so cool
I agree on that, especially the outdoor snow area, it’s really bland.
Good to hear well rounded perspective. Maybe it will evolve in the following years.
it would be better with bigger ceilings and the lighting fixtures hidden with scenery ; the reason haunted mansion rides can get away with small rooms is because it's dark so people don't notice it
Yeah that's my issue with trackless rides. Always feels too open. With tracked rides all the scenery surrounds a much smaller footprint. I'd rather be able to see where the ride is going to go than see a mass expanse of grey concrete.
I was gonna say - it just looks… stark.
I’ve been to Disneyland Tokyo and disneySea twice. Hands down the best parks in the world.
Love to see your thoughts on Super Nintedo World, great work as always
We haven’t experienced it yet, but we really want to!
I've been a few times (annual pass)
The land is amazing but honestly the mario kart attraction is a bit lackluster
This ride was the highlight of our trip to Tokyo Disneyland ❤
Love this video! but I don't think the Prince is there when the transformation is happening. You can see a small circular door open from the floor and the animatronic rises from down there.
Having visited Paris, Florida, and California parks. I am eager to visit the Asia parks some day.
those animatronics look insane. really goe to show how much rides can do with animatronics nowadays and how theme parks shouldnt have to overly rely on screen and projectors to bring their effects into the ride
I don’t want to speak for Walt, but I think he would heartily approve of this ride.
If they bring the ride to Disneyland I would consider going there again.
Not only is this worth a trip to Tokyo Disneyland, it’s part of the many reasons I want to go there.
I wish this ride was at one of the parks in the states
The ride looks incredible! The animatronics definitely reach new levels here. I love how the ride vehicles seem to dance too!
10:55 Actually the prince was not “always there”. He appears from the ground, we can see him appear
The only disappointing aspect is we didn’t get scenes featuring the Gaston song and the Mob scene
They’ll be back at it though- just not sure how long
Tokyo in general is worth the trip. Disneyland is just a nice day trip.
The ride itself seems boring (the dancing scenes too long) but just to see the animatronics and the queue is worth the wait.
I rode this recently. And its now i think my 2nd fave disney ride ever!! I was amazed! Hope I can return to the Tokyo Disney parks someday! And also get to the California, paris, hong king, and shanghai parks in my lifetime!
@ReviewTyme, superb video! Your prose and cadence is perfect! I felt like you were reading an enchanting bedtime story! 📖 🥰 Well done, Dom!🥳💙❤️💜🎉
You're a little wrong on the transformation scene. The prince animatronic isn't always there you can see it rising from a trap door during the spinning beast
Totally worth a trip to Tokyo! it's on my to do list
Rode this in April and by far this is the best ride Disney has ever had
After seeing the Disney tokyo presentation in the china pavilion at Epcot, I decided that I definitely want to check it out at some point. It seems too incredible to miss!!!
I’ve seen the ride but I hadn’t yet seen video of the exterior and queue; just, WOW
Bells animatronic looked just like the one for the hat box ghost. Wonder if it was repurposed or a second one made?
Wow! What a beautiful video! Thank you!
I rode this attraction and I just love this one!!! It's so Disney and even with new technologies still it's classic.
BTW, the ride is a soup dish.
If I did go, I'd love it. But I'm happy checking it out on UA-cam. Cheaper and saves the hassle of international travel.
While nothing is worth a trip to Japan other than a wedding or funeral, it’s certainly and impressive attraction. Thank you.
Why those two massively expensive ad boring events? XD I'd love to visit a Tezuka museum or something. Along with a bunch of other franchises that came from Japan.
Tokyo Disney always delivers and really puts Disney in the states to shame. That is just pure magic! I wish I had the money to go
The boys do it again, absolutely unparalleled content guys.
I live like less than an hour away but I can't seem to make it there yet. But soon!
This reminds me of Symbolica, you should make a video on it! It’s a really cool ride.
thank you for this. 🤗
that looks like a most awesome ride....
more of an experience, really.
no, i wouldn't go to tokyo to see it but i can appreciate the artistry of it from your video. 💕
and thank you for telling us how they did it, 'cause you KNOW i was wondering! 😱
I watched a ride through when this first opened and wasn't really impressed. But I seemed to have completely missed the transformation scene and also the queue. This is much more impressive than it first appeared.
How about soup bowls for the ride vehicles since there are no handles?
Even Disneyland and Disney World aren't at this level! Japan really outdone it with this Beauty and the Beast ride 👏.
Totally on my bucket list
$200 million is an incredible figure for just 1 ride. Was there something else included to justify the cost? It looks absolutely incredible but I can't help but feel like it's a of money for a single ride. Love your videos! Keep up the excellent work 🙂
That's not so bad. It costs less than HALF of Galactic Rewind and I'd certainly rather have this in a Magic Kingdom park than that.
Well thank you thoroughly enjoyed the execution and storytelling of the narrator. And yes Dom ,I'd love to go and experience it myself .Maybe one day my dreams will come true.😘
The animatronics are SICK!!!!
Ngl I rode this attraction like more than 10times in a day and am abouta cry after riding The enchanted tale of beauty and the beast
They have to bring this to the magic kingdom
These animatronics are getting unreal.
First time I've seen one of your videos, I'm extremely impressed! Wish I would've found your channel sooner for sure! Definitely subscribing :)
The prince is not always there during the transition effect. He rises up from out of the floor. You can see it at 9:21 ...
I was waiting for this, this is so cool
OMG this looks absolutely gorgeous! 🤩😃
As someone who grew up with this movie (and many other Disney Princess movies) I'm not gonna lie, seeing Belle & The Beast come alive like this...got me a little emotional🥺. They look as alive as they felt to me when I was a kid, honestly Walt Disney would be so proud!🤗🥰
It remindes me of symbolica at efteling
Wow, that looks amazing!
Great vid again. Thanks 🙏
8:08 a short musical number??? It takes forever!
so beautiful!
