Thanks for posting this right as I should be writing an essay. Real cool of you.
In all seriousness this is amazing.
I know it's a wee bit cringe to bring up one's own stories in comments of a video about a story someone else is making but this made me think of something similar in a story I'm writing. A fella and his aunt.
She's in charge of a sub-division of her country's intelligence agency, and gets a grand total of zero oversight on what she does and how she does things. One of her favourite practices is to grab a child, typically out of foster care or an orphanage, and use them for a mission, usually accompanying an adult (either her or one of the adult staff working under her) to make them seem less suspicious, plus "oh little Timmy just got lost and ended up in your secret bio-lab silly Timmy". Then, once the mission is done, she kills them and stages their death, making it seem like they ran away from the orphanage or foster home and died to an accident or nature, or frames someone for a murder.
Fella was gonna be another among the dead until auntie changed her mind, and kept repeatedly using him for missions. It's unclear if she spared him cos auntie, or cos something else. The threat of killing him and his mum (who was abusive and didn't want him, hence him being in foster care, but he was young enough when they were separated that he forgot that and thought that if he was returned to her she'd take care of and care about him) was always dangled over his head.
He was caught between being brainwashed and realising he was a slave (can't leave and can't say no without being punished or killed, and "payment" for missions comes in the form of things like a nicer bed, as if he were paid in money it could be of use in an escape), as well as praise and affection. Auntie is very push-pull on that front. It's a bit of a paradox where he believes what she says, but still wants to gtfo. She also has a paradox between wanting him to be obedient vs wanting him to be capable.
So thankyou for showing me the song.

Essay done yippeee. Correction on re-reading the chapter where I wrote this stuff.
Him being her nephew helped, but it was mostly something else.
First mission he just went with two of her employees to a hotel, pretending to be their kid and making them seem less suspicious. No proving of any competence beyond the ability to not go "YO GUYS CHECK IT OUT MY FAKE PARENTS ARE SPIES" - which is, in fact, well beyond the capabilities of many children.
After, she was gonna kill him like the rest, but he found out with a little private investigation and tried to escape. He also did some clever stuff during the escape attempt.
She was still gonna kill him, but got a call for a mission and decided that he'd fit perfectly for it. Finding the location of a suspected biolab by putting a tracker in someone and then pretending to sell them as a human trafficker to the organisation that owns the biolab. Better use someone expendable since they might not come back alive.
"Bro, like, well done on figuring it out. That was just a test by the way I totally haven't murdered countless children and totally wasn't gonna murder you" (she has, in fact, murdered countless children, and was going to murder him) "so you like work for us now."
The part where fella escaped the biolab alive wasn't actually part of the plan. In fact, unbeknownst to him, his tracker doubled as a toxin releaser that would've killed him the day after he escaped.
She was planning to kill him after that second mission, and the third one, but things just kept coming up until she decided she'd keep him.
Except the times she planned / tried to kill him after that. These ended in her changing her mind, failing, or being interrupted.
When she heard rumours that the intelligence agency she works for was gonna bring in new oversight measures (aka her bosses would find out how she's been getting these missions done so smoothly), but said measures never got enforced. When fella started experiencing puberty and, upon looking up what dealing with teenagers is like, she decided she'd rather commit murder, plus many times that kid and teenage things came up (especially the annoying things, and double especially the gross things). When his eye got stabbed out and a massive scar was left on his face so he became recognisable and no good for like half the tasks she was getting. When one of her employees gave him a communist manifesto as a joke and the next day he'd drawn a hammer and sickle on his bedroom ceiling. When her pet goldfish died and she thought it was cos he fed it too much (it was actually cos she forgot to replace the water filter). When a cyclist cut in front of her while she was driving to a cinema and she decided she was gonna frame the cyclist for murder and spent a full day setting up a murdering of fella to pin on the cyclist before remembering any kid will do and there's an underfunded orphanage near where the cyclist lives. When he made her food and it tasted so bad that she thought he'd poisoned her and that she had limited time to take him down with her. And a couple others there's literally a 2-page long paragraph before which is a shorter paragraph saying "dear reader; you can skip this paragraph if you like."
