The gaslighting is too on point where it's scary.
Especially when Maia pretends to empathize with Sasha showing her specific experiences with dysfunctional relationships then directly instilling "common sense" in her by insulting her. Gaslighting works efficiently, especially with people like Sasha who want something, so desperately they'll do anything which makes room for manipulators in their vulnerable space to pretend. To pretend to be empathetic so the victim will be more inclined in their debt to do whatever it is that they want from said victim.
Not to mention, the scene where Maia shows a vision of Sasha, manipulating her of the promise of getting the twisted recognition she had been longing for so long tops the cake. Sasha looks star struck but then reluctant, which showcases that she wants this, but is it really worth going THAT far to be cruel to get to the top?
It shows her humanizing traits, which I like to think Maia purposefully strings out knowing she can manipulate them to the finest so that she would be able to persuade her more and pretend to emphasize like I mentioned. She knows of Loretta's strained relationship with Sasha so she used that to her advantage. Make her scared and vulnerable as she ripped apart the vision's model's arm from her elbow socket and head to her neck, like a parent scaring the child to make them small and learn their lesson so that the parent can take on that opening so that child will behave.
And then they bribe them, like what Maia bribes Sasha. It hits close to home in a cold way and I love it.
You see how Maia's eyes are red? There are touches of red in Sasha's red and as it slowly fills up her eyes, it indirectly shows how tactiful and cunning Maia is in power and persuading the weak, taking them to the advantage. And then when Sasha's eyes glowed red, it shows Maia being satisfied. Knowing she has her under control. And the sinister feeling makes the statement "Making a deal with the devil", an understatement.

I feel like Roman is like Sasha, but ten times worse. He's arrogant and self righteous, thinking he deserves everything that, in his eyes, ought to be handed to him. He's more self assured and would "empathize" with those who are deemed wronged with promises that they'll get what they want...As long as they follow him.
Raquel, I don't have a good reading on her characterization but I feel like she's the type of anti hero or villain to have high/harsh expectations on people. On her subordinates, too, especially since she's an overachiever. She wants the best and she'll come across to the point about that, unlike her husband who simply "befriends" people to efficiently get him what they want. She has no time or tolerance for that kind of talk. She even so much as went to threaten to kill Amara if they don't follow through with her on her comic. She seems to be the strict, no nonsense "My way or the high way" while Roman seems to be more manipulative and socially charismatic. All while adding up with the narcisisstic attitude.
And the fact that there are people like this, fictional or real is terrifying. You displayed these characterizations in your oc's too well.

Idk about anyone else but I find the expression at 2:52 one of the most compelling things in the video. It give me more questions than I have answers, like “does she not actually like her daughter?” Or “does she consider the girl more a tool rather than her child?”.

If I were to guess (without any context whatsoever) I’d say the face is either:
A. Dropping the facade for a moment while the puppet isn’t looking. It’s just business in the end, even if she has to pretend to care to get to her goal.
Or
B: she knows what this path is really going to cost her “child” and is, herself, taking a brief, humanizing moment to consider whether the sacrifice she’s intending is actually okay with her. It totally is, but she thinks about it at least.
@@telefeeb1 If I had no context I would really like B to be honest what I think of with it is kinda like "I raised her this way, but do I really want her to be exactly like me? Do I want her to sacrifice the little humanity she has left in her? ..... *yes.* " Not me trying to be cool and dramatic lol now I kinda want to write an AU where Sasha is her daughter or at least raised by her cause it would be interesting but idk (the original is amazing by the way so great job @sacredhyacinth :))
1:18/1:19 is my favorite frame and part, the small unhinged bit of music with the expression on madia's face plus being even bigger than the only other character there I just love it
I love this entire animatic, but 2:14 just sends chills down my spine every time! Absolute favourite part of the video, especially with what's being shown.( I'm a sucker for corruption related stories and such and this vid gives off that well.)

This animatic gives me such “Evil Friend Like Me” vibes. The constant growing and shrinking of Maida, the illusion magic to show Sasha the future, is very reminiscent of the Genie. I can’t help but replay it, it’s very well made.
i love this!! i dont know much abt your characters but i love what youve done with them in this animatic. The character designs are so dynamic and recognizable. You could really feel the inner turmoil going on in each character, and the contrast in their mannerisms is so so good

I think the shock would be however more effective if the model has an expression,like crying.
The pure shock that came from the illusion of Loretta getting torn apart limb by limb,as blood splattered all over maida and her sword while Sasha just looks horrified,is just magnificent.
This would probably be my most favourite animatic on UA-cam,next to well "I think I'm better than you

I have a dnd character concept where their mother is like this but the kid rejected their evil ways. He is a dhampir (half human half vampire). His mom is a vampire tyrant ruling over a kingdom with her vampire family, including sons and daughters. They all want my character to join them but he refuses and became an inquisitor/monster hunter.
