Looks way more realistic than those wood grain tools! Going to try this on our pillars at the front of our house. I've never liked how flat they feel and I think this would look fantastic! Thanks!!
Recently I've discovered that it's the Canadians with the best ideas & talents! Great effect! I also appreciate that you don't have annoying music in the background. You get to it & explain & show it well. Thank you! I'll try this technique on a wall with lighter brown tones. I'm excited to try it!
Wow! What a fantastic tutorial. So glad I came across this. I would love to try this with grey tones on my floor that is so in need of an update. Save some $$ too. You sir, are a genius! 😊
I really like your technique. Pushing the old brush and twirling for knots is new for me. I've done a few floors like this but with your technique I think I can do them much faster and even look better. Thank you very much for sharing this.
I just did this on a small piece of the leftover plywood from my camper floor and it looks amazing! Thank you for this tutorial. I've been looking for a cost effective way to do that floor and this is it!
I had nasty carpet and little $- seeing your videos inspired me- I am doing my ENTIRE house with your technique and I LOVE IT! Thank you for sharing your expertise- I am SO happy with the results! I have done large living room/ dining room and by cutting the paint with water as you suggest- 1 gallon of lighter brown and 1 of darker may do about 1400 sq ft. awesome result for minimal cost. A lot of hard work- but worth the savings.
I also was looking at a paper bag technique and I'm SO glad I saw this first! I love that you don't need any special wood graining tools, just paint brushes... FANTASTIC, thank you!
This is so great for those that are on a budget but want this look. Did faux wood beams and was very liberal with the knots and looks terrific. You have helped so many here!! Thank you!
Thank you so much. This video is the fastest way to do floors I've found anywhere, and with the very best result. I imagine for a weathered look I may be able to use other paint colors such as the very darkest gray, Lighter gray and white. This was very helpful. I'm ready to get to work now that i have a technique that wont take years to finish. Smile! Bless you!
I did this - and it is amazing! In a spare bedroom, I Pulled up 40hr old carpet and painted over particle board at my parents’ house!!! ❤️❤️ I will probably end up doing most of their house like this!
This is the most straight forward to the point video. I really appreciate it. It is also the most helpfol in pr oi ming, base coat and basic color and technique.
I was looking for a cheap way to make plywood look ike wood for a pirate ship Halloween display. This is perfect! Thank you!! Will use in my home as well. The ship will give me good practice!
Thank you for this tutorial! I just did a practice one and it came out perfect! I’m excited to do this on my basement floors! Excellent tutorial and technique! Again! Thank you!
Looks great! I cringed while watching at the mistreatment of the brush at first, going against the direction of the bristles and splaying them, but then I saw how it leaves such interesting strokes like that! Definitely worth sacrificing a brush for creating such a nice faux wood! Well done!
I will definitely be practicing this! Have 4 rooms we didn't complete when putting in our wood, and now, of course, they no longer carry the random sizes we first installed, and it's nearly 3xs the cost.
What the Heck! This is really cool. I love that your just using normal paint. These other videos people have these tiny bottle of some odd fancy paint. I have a graining tool, but your technique looks better.
I did this on my staircase and while it doesn't look perfect, it looks a heckuva lot better than they were before! From poop brown* to "wood" steps and white risers. So. Much. Prettier. *prior homeowner had a penchant for poop brown!
I truly agree with everyone here. You sir have done actual magic! I am redoing the wood floors in my house to add value, but I've been dreading it because I hate, loathe, and abhor sanding. Does anyone recommend a heavy duty sealer or top coat to make the floor last the longest? Do you think that the polymer clear sealant normally used on wood floors would work since the paint is almost as thin as stain? I also love your idea to use the wall color as the floor base color. This ties the room together so beautifully. Thank you so much for posting this. I wish you the best with your channel! I'm off to choose my colors now!
I did this same technique but instead of one flat piece of wood I cut 4 inch wide pieces of good quality plywood. I made it look like Brazilian Rosewood. It has lasted over 12 years now with very little wear, and whenever there has been a scuff or scratch, it’s easily fixed. I just made mine look like installed wood floors by cutting the individual planks of wood from cabinet grade plywood.
I would like to paint plastic parts of a car in a fake wood design. The best video I've seen on the subject so far. Thank you!

*prior homeowner had a penchant for poop brown!
How did it hold up? I'm thinking of trying this on my stairs!
@@kay-roy-d3iPretty well - a few dings here and there because I have some pets, but still happy with how they look.
I'm making some cardboard floating shelves. This is very nice! Hoping it works well for me!
I did this painting technique work well for you?
