I wanna give a quiet nod to my two affordable watches of 2023. The Tissot PRX is a little over the $500 budget, but its the hill I will die on. I love this watch. It may not fit everyone but it sits on my wrist like a dream. It's thin enough to slip under the cuff which is ideal for my suited and booted work life. My second pick, which I'm wearing currently is the Sherwood Commander. Released in September 2023, its a handsome diver with a gorgeous bracelet, a clean sunburst dial, a subtle arrow theme, and a rotating bezel with no numeral markings, which I think I actually prefer, over the other divers I own. Specs are your usual for a microbrand diver. 200m WR, screwdown crown, sapphire crystal and the ideal 40-20 sizing that makes it a strap monster and wrist diva. Powered by the Miyota 9039 automatic caliber movement, its an affordable automatic which wouldn't look out of place on the wrist of a British secret agent
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Absolutely right about the Orient Kamasu, I need to get the red dial with the bracelet, I did pick up the Casio Duro, black & gold, for my beater, but I couldn't turn down a great deal on a Phoibos orange dial for $299.
I got the Kamasu as a beater for work. Not only did it exceed expectations, the red dial is beautiful, the lume is phenomenal. I immediately bought another to keep aside in case something happens to the first one. Probably the best watch for the money I've encountered.
Glad to see the Kamasu on here. It was an 18th birthday present from my parents, and it means the world to me! I was so close to the red dial, but I eventually bought the black dial, which I prefer. And when I moved around the world for college, it was my only watch for about four months, and I was just blown away by how versatile it is.
I own a red dial Kamasu. I LOVE the watch and bought it sometime during the pandemic for under 200.00 USD. The funny thing is that as much as I love the dial,it never really got wrist time and I couldn't figure out why. Then I ran across reviews for the Strapcode Jubilee bracelet. It completely changed the look and the wearability of it. The watch with this bracelet absolutely punches way above it's price. It now looks like a watch that costs triple of what I actually paid. With the Strapcode bracelet, I'm into the Kamasu for less than 300.00 and it looks like a million! Any that has a Kamasu should get this bracelet. You will not regret it.They have an oyster style bracelet available as well. 😉👍🏼
Kieren!! - What an effort. thanks for putting this together and thanks to all other reviewers. Love the Kamasu. I believe the sub 700 one looks great and a great GMT otion and Citizen Tsuyosa certainly is a pick for this year...
Mine would be a Casio Lineage (with indices only): 40mm, 10mm thick, sapphire crystal, quartz that hits all the marks, radio communication accuracy, ani/digi, world time (GMT capabilities), 5 alarms, stopwatch (chronograph capabilities), countdown timer, titanium. It’s a mix between sporty and dressy. All this for around $200. What more do you want!
I own a Casio Duro black/gold. It is only the strap that would not fit in this category. From the ten watches presented it is the first one (Seiko), the San Martin and the Orient at the end which are eyecatching. And the Casio Edifice.
@@TopTierTicker I have it now for about three years. Still the first battery. It is a real beater. Nearly undestroyable. Still love how it is looking.I keep the strap only because I haven't seen a replacement for it that I like and because I use the watch when going swimming. And for that the strap is working great.
This was a fantastic video. It was very interesting to hear the different opinions. I even learned of a couple of new watch channels to check out. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! I thought it would be cool to get 10 different opinions on the same topic rather than just the usual one. And it was great that everyone chose a different watch! (lucky)
Outside the Orient I quite like the look of the Seiko Presage SRPH95J1 and a brand I stumbled upon called Nodus with the Sector GMT. Paradox of choice with watches!
My pleasure! I love the shimmer that bounces back at you from those gilt style numerals! (Forgot to mention/show that the watch was shown on my 8" wrist).
Great idea for a video - thank you for making it. I'd like to see a video like this for each genre of watch (eg, dive watches, dress watches, field watches, chronographs, etc).

Cool video featuring some of the best reviewers although missing Jody M from Just one more watch. I have to say I agree with you totally. I have the red Kamasu on the bracelet and it’s keeping great time and has some of the most wrist time. The other one is my Casio waveceptor tough solar atomic timekeeping ana- digi grab and go.
The 3 favorite watches of my collection are: Tissot Visodate Powermatic, Seiko Kinetic and a Citizen EcoDrive Supertitanium. I love the Citizen because you don’t have to wear it to kept it moving, I only keep it in a Cristal box and that’s it. It’s always on time.
The Seiko SRPG39 at 39mm has a more appropriate field watch size version at 36.4mm known as the SRPJ85. WWII field watches were designed to go under the sleeves of a field jacket and field shirt. The dirty dozen watches were made from 35mm to 38mm.
Have to go with the following 3: Casio Duro = bought one for Christmas//Orient Kamasu - love the color-going to be long term in my collection/ Any Seiko 5- I own the SRPH-33 = all great value, Honorable mention - I also own 4 Citizens - love them for what you get for the price.
You would be able to pull it off, it depends on how you like your watches to wear. 48mm on a 6.25 inch would just about cover the surface, I'd certainly rock it with a 6.5 inch wrist! I'd say go for it!
@@NovDee07Agree...should fit you well. Keep in mind that the watch appears a little larger since there's not really a bezel...it's all dial. If you like the look, but want smaller, they have a similar watch in the SRPJ85 at 36mm diameter by 44mm lug to lug.
Duro. All day long. Kamasu is good for the money but for the same money you can have a Duro in every colour, or maybe a Duro and a Seagull 1963? Or a Duro and a great weekend?

I own the Citizen Tough and a fourteen year old previous incarnation of it, great watch but the price has gone up quite a bit. Packed mine up for £279 on the kevlar strap.
Some great 'affordable' watches, some from brands I didn't know; reeldive "turtle", wolbrook's dive watch, (watch me with watches, I own the seiko), CWC field watch, citizen titanium field watch.
I have the Seiko 5 (Watchwitt)...it looks good, but unfortunately it doesent keep the time. loses about 5mins per day... since then I try to avoid seiko.
SoCal Watch Reviews disqualified for failure to understand the brief.....Other than that, Love that first one and also the Orient Kamasu, that red dial looks spectacular especially for the price!
Haha, it's all good. I appreciate him going outside of the box a bit with his choice. It's nice to have a mechanical GMT in the video so I don't mind! The red dial Kamasu will always be in my collection!
@@TopTierTickerLOL, only semi-joking about SoCal ;) Think I really need to sell some watches before I consider buying any more, but the Kamasu is on my hit list in the near future, not currently got anything red and it's looking like a tough choice between that one, or the Seiko Cocktail time 'Negroni' SRPE41J1. My choice for a budget GMT would be yet another Seiko, the Seiko 5 'Blueberry' GMT......Had one for about a year, and it's great. Not even any thicker than a normal Seiko 5 Sports! :)
Can I ask a quick question to people who are more in the know than me. I just bought my first nice watch. It's a Tissot seastar 1000 quarts. The rotating bezel does not line up correctly with 12 o'clock, the second hand never meets a marker and the date sits a little off centre too. Is this acceptable or should I return it. In all honesty it's driving me nuts every time I look at it.
If just one of those things were off, I'd say keep it. But with all three being misaligned, send it back. These things happen with mass produced affordable watches. It's the lottery as to whether it's perfect or not! Hopefully next time it's good for you.
Pagani Design, Cronos, San Martin, Addies/Steeldive, Berny and Cadisen. Cheaper are Benyar, Skmei, Winner and Addiesdive too. These brands give way more value than Seiko, Citizen ect.
I have been into watches since i was a kid and started my collection about a year ago when i got my cancer diagnosis. I bought a Seiko 5 Sports `mikan orange´ SSK005K1 and i was actually looking on getting another watch and the instant i saw the DeSander voyage i just instantly was like ``I WANT THAT WATCH SO BAD! It looks sick´´ and now i have ordered it =) Thank you for making videos like this =D
The San Martin was the best pick for me. Absolute stunner of a watch with 300M of WR. A close second would be the red Orient Kamasu. One of the better looking Japanese divers out there, especially in RED.
All great choices by people who's advice I value. Ive got the Steeldive sd 1970 and it's incredible value for money and a superb watch to wear. I think I'd probably go for the Kamasu as my favourite. I don't own one but it just looks amazing, especially the red dial! Great video Kieron, and thanks to all the guys for their choices 👍
That's a great choice. Absolutely beautiful looking watch. Sapphire Glass too, so it will be looking great for years. You should go ahead with it! I doubt you'll regret it
I have the green/blue Kamasu. It’s an overrated watch imo. The big downfall is it’s sapphire crystal as it seems to have no or very little AR which means it whites out the dial from various angles. I think the reason people seem to like it is the novelty of a red dial on a dive watch.
That's an interesting take! I will admit that the crystal isn't as clear as others that I've tried, but it's farrrr from the worst. I'm a huge fan of the whole Kamasu range. I think it's a hell of a watch for around $200. The red dial is just 👌
Great video Kieron (and everyone who participated)! Loved hearing each reviewers' take and reasons for their pick! Hope to one day have the opportunity to get you hands on with one of our watches to compare for yourself and hope that all is well on your end! Happy holidays! Cheers, Ben
It depends what you value in watch collecting... Some, like yourself, want pure spec for the money. Others enjoy original designs with a cool story. The San Martin is technically the best watch 'spec for spec'... But it has 0 originality. I'm a collector who enjoys the middle ground. An original design watch that has great specs. I think the DeSanders is a very cool watch, that dial is unbelievably good looking... Something that the likes of San Martin would never even attempt. Sure, it's not the best value, but it's definitely one of the best watches featured in this video.
@TopTierTicker , my collection is all over the map, so I enjoy unique watches as well. Im no particular fan of this San Martin, and have no desire to own one, but as you acknowledged, it's objectively the best watch on the list. The DeSanders isn't bad, it's just the worst in a great group of watches. I wouldn't buy one, but I'd get that before the pelagoose.
@@TopTierTicker Thanks Ticker, it's the excitement! But I thought you said 500 USD,... The Kamasu is about half of that. On the 500 tier you can do better than that. The Kamasu is great, but sits at the level of the Bambino, the Seiko 5s, etc,... Five hundred bucks can get you more. Cheers!
'buck for buck' the Kamasu is one of the best for me. I wouldn't put it on the same level as the Bambino or any Seiko 5. I mean, none of those come with a sapphire for starters. I don't think any of them have a framed day-date window. And the lume on the Kamasu is different gravy. The Kamasu rivals pretty much any watch under $500, in my opinion of course.
Well if microbrands are allowed then the Phoibos Proteus 300M Automatic Diver with Salmon Dial #PY024G blows away any Orient or Seiko diver out of the water for around that price.
I hate when a company has a watch and they just don’t put a sapphire lens on it. I mean come on how much more money would it cost them to just upgrade to that. Mineral scratches so easily
Why buy Seiko automatics? They are too thick and require constant motion. Buy the battery ones. You can easily replace batteries yourself every 3 or 4 years, and they are cheaper.
K - v enjoyable esp. short and punchy presentations … and strong evidence that 30% of people are unable to follow simple instructions! 😉 I have a couple of those watches and agree that they should be prominent here. But the one that I have had on my alert list for a very long time is Jason’s Citizen; the snag there is that it just never seems to be meaningfully discounted … Someday maybe - I know it’s already good value but I draw the line at paying close to RRP for some of these mainstream watches/brands. All the best to all for whatever 2024 brings.
Cheers Graham! Rules are made to be broken right!? Nonetheless, I'm very happy with everyone's suggestions, I don't think there's a single bad one. I've considered the Garrison myself many of times, I believe it's slightly smaller than Jason's piece. Cheaper too!

Steeldive SD1970 Willard. Because I own it, and I'm gifting one to a friend for Christmas.
Might have to try one out :) cheers for watching mate
Solid watch!
So I'm having my eye on Orient Mako 3 salmon/peach - any thoughts?
Never owned a "fancy" watch like that before.
That's a great choice. Absolutely beautiful looking watch. Sapphire Glass too, so it will be looking great for years. You should go ahead with it! I doubt you'll regret it
@TopTierTicker thanks!
It will make a nice birthday present for my 30th in three months 😀
I have the green/blue Kamasu. It’s an overrated watch imo. The big downfall is it’s sapphire crystal as it seems to have no or very little AR which means it whites out the dial from various angles. I think the reason people seem to like it is the novelty of a red dial on a dive watch.
That's an interesting take! I will admit that the crystal isn't as clear as others that I've tried, but it's farrrr from the worst. I'm a huge fan of the whole Kamasu range. I think it's a hell of a watch for around $200. The red dial is just 👌
Voyage gmt looks amazing!
that ediface is nice, but even in the video it most certainly does not hit the markers everytime
Great video Kieron (and everyone who participated)! Loved hearing each reviewers' take and reasons for their pick! Hope to one day have the opportunity to get you hands on with one of our watches to compare for yourself and hope that all is well on your end! Happy holidays!
Cheers,
Ben
The San Martin is the best watch on the list by far. The worst, and ironically most expensive, is the DeSanders Voyage
Voyage gmt and the first Tiffany blue citizen
Lovely idea 🤙🏻
Glad you think so! It's nice to get everyone together for one video 😁
Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic!
Good shout!
Cheers!
Over priced. Similar look from a dozen or more brands for 10 to 30 percent of the cost.
The Orient is lush like. Nice vid cheers
I have the watch you featured. Red dial with metal bracelet 👍
Kamasu FTW!
Yes sir!
Well if microbrands are allowed then the Phoibos Proteus 300M Automatic Diver with Salmon Dial #PY024G blows away any Orient or Seiko diver out of the water for around that price.
Phoibos make some fantastic watches!
Im not sure why the Voyage is getting so much hate. Imo it's a better looking version of a $10,000 Omega.
Joma shop is trustable from India 🇮🇳India Chennai courier delivery 🚚 available
You MUST do this more often.
I have the red Kamasu, and ahhh is increible
CASIO DURO IS A NICE CHOICE.
My wallet does not appreciate this beautiful thumbnail
😂😂😂 It's nearly Christmas, show some patience my friend 🙏
Orient Kamasu is no doubt the best pick
I hate when a company has a watch and they just don’t put a sapphire lens on it. I mean come on how much more money would it cost them to just upgrade to that. Mineral scratches so easily
Tsuyosa and kamasu 👍
Why buy Seiko automatics? They are too thick and require constant motion. Buy the battery ones. You can easily replace batteries yourself every 3 or 4 years, and they are cheaper.
Bulova Lunar Pilot 💯
Please do the same video for ladies watches 🙏❤
What? No G-Shock Casioke?😯😯
The reviewers have spoken! ;) it's a great watch, just slightly over-hyped... I sold mine on recently after only wearing it a handful of times
Nice video love the content
8:18 ;It's a perfect watch for when I wake up late for work and I need to pick up a watch quickly.' WTF?
K - v enjoyable esp. short and punchy presentations … and strong evidence that 30% of people are unable to follow simple instructions! 😉
I have a couple of those watches and agree that they should be prominent here.
SRPG39 is £300 not £200
$235 on Jomashop 👍
@@TopTierTicker thanks x
@@jayden_2954Shop around. They were $185 USD when I found this one, but the price has gone up recently. Can you believe I bought this one LIKE NEW for $100?!
@@TopTierTicker Do they ship to the UK?

I absolutely love this channel. There is nothing like coming home from seeing patients, pouring a nice drink, and taking in the reviews and commentary of a well spoken gentlemen who makes me want to buy all the watches he reviews. Cheers mate and keep up the excellent work!
So glad to hear that my friend! Glad it's not just me who unwinds to wristwatch content. Thank you so much for watching 🙏 stay well
