🙏🙏🙏Thank you for all the hard work you put into such a long career of making some incredible music! I still am regularly rockin a few of your tracks in my vinyl sets. Much love from south of Boston MA. Cheers 👋🍻🥂☕️🔥 🐉☁️
What an absolute legend. Komodo is still his best work, in my opinion. Loved the track so much that I ended up composing the main theme as a ringtone on a Nokia 3310 I had at the time.
I like that he says "now is too much" it absolutely is, tracks have about ten breakdowns after the other then then completely change after the drop. It sounds ridiculous.
Deep Forest created its own melody (though I'm not sure) but the original song can definitely be called folk music. We currently know that the oldest version was made by a person called Afunakwa somewhere in the 1970s, but the original could have been written even before the 20th century, which means the composer is unknown. But the fact is that Mauro Picotto created the best commercial version of good old Trance of this song.
Agreed, also I only discovered this few weeks ago. Now we all know the real reason why Deep Forest didnt give me the clearence for the sample at the time, they couldn't because they already took it from someone else first... Thanks for the clarification at least Save a Soul now is clear and Komodo completely original 🙂
I once had a dream where Komodo was playing and it was so powerful, i woke up with the tears of joy in my eyes because this tune has a big nostalgic value for me, oh the memories of the 2000-2001, the best music, the best years of my life. Big respect to Mauro Picotto, one of the best DJ and producer.
I just love this song. I have listened this again and again and again for 22 years, and I never get tired with this. This song have been with me on gym or if my heart has brokened or when I have wanted just to enjoy about my life. One day, I hope, I have opportunity to see Mauro in live.
funny, informative and interesting ! Loved it ! Thanks Twan !!! Great idea to ask him to share funny/interesting stories ! I could listen to Mario speak for many hours probably ! What a nice guy too !
Man, I wished that I still had The Double Album. Tomorrow I’m going to Explore more of Mauro Picotto. I really love Save A Soul/Komodo and Iguana. But the Goodbye track on the chill out side of that album also. My all time favorite of him for now is still Megamind - Taub?
Also Like him talking about how he likes techno, I was in Gods Kitchen in Ibiza in 2001 and walking through the crowd and felt something bumping into the back of my knees repeatedly, took a few seconds to register then I kept feeling it, I turned round to see what was going on and it was Mauro standing behind me smiling with his record box, I was wearing a UR T shirt and he smiled at it and nodded then headed up to the booth.
Interesting he mentions selling his old equipment to Sam Paganini. That's a name I've not heard in a long time. He was behind the project "Paganini Traxx", best known for "Zoe" but also "Release Yourself" which had a Qattara Remix.
I absolutely loved Deep Forest - Deep Forest back in 1994 so obviously loved Komodo (Save A Soul) too. But its crazy that Deep Forest said no to Mauro sampling them seeing as they had ripped the the track off from somebody else in the first place
It is incredible and i love that many other legendary artists and producers also watch these awesome interviews. Seeing as you are here i would also like to thank you for all the great tracks you have made as well! 🙏🙏🙏 i only have one of your tracks on vinyl but its an oldie 😎 So Simple 💪 Cheers from south of Boston!
Pretty cool right? I know that some of these names watch (or watched) several of my videos: Ferry Corsten, Jono Grant (Above & Beyond), Dave Dresden (Gabriel & Dresden), Darude, Jonas Steur, Sied van Riel, Sneijder and I'm sure there's a whole bunch I forgot hehe.
@@muzikxpress It definitely is awesome and i am happy for you to be able to showcase these incredible moments with not only the ones you interview with but also us and the rest of the world. 🙏 If you ever happen to make it here to the states maybe vacation or something, it would be awesome to see a video with Christopher Lawrence. Just an idea to throw out there for you, he has been rockin the floors over here since the mid/late 90s. Cheers Twan!
HAD TO COME BACK WRONG SIDE.. actually Baguette. It is actually the most hard techno sounding track I can think of that he made. Actually very similar in sense to UK acid techno around the time but a little more upbeat from TLC labels such as liberators, geezer etc. Still has a bit of that UK acid techno feel to it.
Thanks to everyone 🙂
And thank you again for your time and your great stories!

What is your favorite production or remix made by Mauro Picotto?
Iguana
Ultimahora.
Going Back to Cali where I live in the U.S.
I Feel Love -it shows up every year on my "most played on Spotify" track list.

I wonder who the singer was?
I did ask him in case you missed it, but he keeps it a secret 😉
@@muzikxpressI watched it all and saw him explain the singer, that's why I asked. I hope it's someone we all know, but never to be revealed 😂
@@bigbadryster haha hopefully one day it will be revealed! 🤞🏻
here the song: "Deep Forest - Sweet Lullaby"
@@ZaiKanMu did you check the interview? 😉
Great interview, and would be great a David Guetta colab for a remix of Komodo
One of the best songs ❤
