as much as I love Heaven Scent, For What You Dream Of was so far ahead of the field to be produced in '93 It really showed the potential for the rest of the 90's
I still remember hearing For What You Dream of in 1996 when it got re-released in Australia. I already thought it sounded ahead of it's time. Imagine my brain when I discovered it was actually recorded in '93! Bedrock have produced so many incredible tunes... Set In Stone and their remix of Shmuel Flash's 'Chilling Moments' are favourites, but this track is the one I always come back to. Can't wait to hear the interview Twan!
Nick is a real gentleman. Was lucky enough to spend some time with him earlier this year and told him how this record changed my musical direction forever. I now have it signed by Nick and John and in a frame on the wall.
WOW..that was an INCREDIBLE interview. I discovered bedrock in 1996 as I walked out of the Cinema after Trainspotting and straight into HMV to get the soundtrack so I could listen to “For What You Dream Of” again. It was such an exciting time for music. I didn’t know Bedrock at the time but they really blew me away. 👍👍
This is probably your best interview yet Twan! What a nice guy Nick is! Also btw. A very early version of For what you dream of can be heard as early as february 1993 on Sasha Kiss FM show . In the end of that mix John Digweed makes a guest appearance and he introduces his latest track that at the time he called "The 5th Essence". It’s a version without the vocals and with a different arrangement!
Bedrock were an important formative part of my tastes in dance music - they had this signature deep and menacing sound that gave such power to their tracks and remixes that I loved. Thanks for sharing this excellent interview. Also, it doesn't surprise me to hear that Nick, John and Sasha worked hard to get where they are - you had to back then.
Great interview Twan, his music is definitely a big infuence to other aspiring producers I would say. My late friend Eamonn would've especially enjoyed this interview as I remember him saying it's one of his favourites ❤
Another great interview, Twan, you leave a really great archive. In addition, the fact that this archive is Trance and the choice of different types of songs that trance lovers love shows how well he knows this business and music. Keep going like that❤
Absolutely brilliant as always Twan! I still find it criminal that you don't have at least 100k+ subscribers by now. Thank you for all your hard work and awesome content.
Both Bedrock Remixes of Chakra - I Am... cinematic progressive house... when I first heard that I thought to myself this is just not dance music but music that was next level.
Frank de Wulf, (on his own and modular expansion) Joey Beltram, C.J. Bolland, Dave 'Hardcore' Clark, Dj Edge, Westbam, Dj Rob (parkzicht days), Robert leiner, Tina Tin & Cirillo, Axel Stephenson, Green Velvet and Richie hawtin (Plastikman/Cybersonik) to name a few as I could go on all day. I wish Capar Pound was still here..R.I.P. Are people.id love to hear from. Great channel as always giving us mortals some insight into some classics, and not so classic (that's dependent on one's taste) but all the same it is great to hear the story behind some iconic tracks. Thanks 😊 Spectrum- Brazil will always be a classic to me as well as Acid house/Detroit Techno/Belgian new beat and techno. R&S & DiKi as well as Bonzai, Noom, Hook/Bellboy, 23rd Precint, F Communications etc. Legendary and worth an interview on. Cheers Muzikexpress 😊
Thank you! Several of the names you did mention are on my loooooong interview wish list already. Hopefully I can make these happen one day, fingers crossed! 🤞🏻 For now I have about 100 people on that list, so ideas enough 😂
@muzikxpress I'm rooting for you sir. Thanks you for telling me that you do indeed hope to catch these legends and others one day...would love it if you do? Nevertheless, always loved your channel, always watch and thank you for your response. One of my personal faves is when you chatted to Franky Jones. It was amazing to hear he didn't like it at first! It just shows you that geniuses don't necessarily understand or appreciate their work at the time. Always informative and relaxed this channel. For that Sir...I salute you 🫡 Greetings from The original Glasgow. Love the Netherlands and Belgium. That's why I've been four times. Hope our dreams come true. Take care...Iain 🫶
Thanks so much! I'm using a RODE Videomic Rycote, but I also fix the audio with speech enhancement from Adobe and after that I edit it as well in Adobe Audition to get even better quality.
love the work you are putting out there, but the channel will be always incomplete without Oliver Lieb interviews about his classics :P // joking little, hope you can arrange this somehow and its on your top list plan
Oh he has been on my wish list since I started with my channel. For both times I went to Frankfurt to record some interviews, I did reach out to him, but no luck unfortunately… I would love to do at least 2 or 3 interviews with him, but it’s not always as easy as you can see…. Edit: and thanks for the nice words, glad you enjoy the channel!
@@muzikxpress doesnt he play every year on Luminosity? no chance doing it there backstage somewhere? its so sad there is no single interview of him in english in whole youtube history
@@otherworld8451 I’m working for Luminosity, so that means I have no time during (and before / after) the festival for interviews. Plus interviews at festivals doesn’t really work, too much noise / loud music and people walking around, which isn’t really helping for the quality of the interview.
Northern Soul from the north of England, influencing Disco >> Chicago House, Detroit Techno >> influencing the UK and Germany in their own ways, throw Italo disco into the mix and you get Progressive House >> early trance.
On the Apple Music page for Bedrock, some fool editor wrote the silliest sentence I've ever seen in a music publication. Regarding "For What You Dream Of", he said, "Though the song wasn't spectacular..." I'd like to tell him to keep his bad taste to himself.
What is your all-time favorite Bedrock production or remix?
as much as I love Heaven Scent, For What You Dream Of was so far ahead of the field to be produced in '93 It really showed the potential for the rest of the 90's
There are so many. Remixes of Chakra - I Am, Underwold - Cowgirl, Evolution - Walking on Fire, Luzon - The Baguio Track just to name a few!
The Fall!

What a legend - one of my favourite songs of all time!
🙌🏻
I would say that " for what you dream off " is in the top 10 dance tracks of the last 30 years
Such a great track!
And they did it again with "Gridlock" in 2014 - sadly didn't get quite the recognition that "For What You Dream Of" got - but such a banger.
Nick is a real gentleman. Was lucky enough to spend some time with him earlier this year and told him how this record changed my musical direction forever. I now have it signed by Nick and John and in a frame on the wall.
Bedrocks remix of tenaglias turn me on is insane.
Love this track also.
Thank you so much for this
Such a distinctive sound
Epic song!! There is literally nothing quite like it ❤🔥🇮🇪

Digweed closing track NYE 2023 Stereo Montreal, 2:30PM after playing a relentless 10.5 hours. Unforgettable

Great interview Twan, with a great producer! ❤

This was so informative. So good. Maybe you could do Xpander with Charlie May too.
Thank you! And I would love that! If he’s ever in The Netherlands I’m gonna ask him for sure! 🤞🏻
Yes. Xpander ftw
