For anyone watching this, the symptoms were: CJ2A ran normally, was parked, placed in 2nd gear (on level driveway...but just in case), went out to move it...and the shift lever would NOT move...not even a little...out of 2nd gear, with tremendous force. After removing the shift tower, the shift lever moved somewhat freely. This will likely result in a rebuild with new syncros and plates, along with a thorough inspection of whatever else might be wrong. Thanks Rick (and producer/director of photography!)
I got stuck between second/neutral yesterday while in town. When I pulled the shift tower, the square on the end of the shift cane was actually twisted a bit and jammed between the rails.
Great video, short sweet and to the point, I've got a Mazda five speed in an f150 that keeps getting stuck in fourth. Ive been inside a five speed out of a ranger before and after tearing it apart and putting it back together about three times on my daughter's high school pickup I had a sneaking suspicion that this was probably my issue.
Great video anwsered questions i believe on stuck gears ..on mine it sounded like something broke off qnd just got stuck in gear so im sure it was that
Good day..I have a 2014 fuso 4p10 stuck in 2nd gear but can be released from the gear cable connections under the truck. Once released and try another gear it also gets stuck and cannot come back to neutral..is it a synchroniser issue aswell?
Hello Mate I got a Landcruiser HJ75 1987 with a 4 speed gearbox and when I am in 3rd and I want to upshifting to 4 or down to 2 , the stick is stuck, and no grinding noise at all, Why ? Regards Raiarii
I only know about T90 transmissions but if I was to hazard a guess I would say it could be a failed synchronizer. Like I said it would just be a guess.
@@rickstivers3965 Other gears works perfect, clutch is new, the thing is i drove it not knowing the transmission oil is low, then while going 120km/h on 6th gear, it just slipped and i heard the rev
319 racing, Sorry but I can't help you at all with an automatic transmission problem. You might try a troubleshooting search for the particular transmission you have.
My 2008 Jeep Commander 4.7L sport has a buzzing sound when I accelerate. I’ve been trying to avoid taking it the dealer and have taken it to a few shops and they can’t figure out what’s wrong. I’ve gotten the trans fluid changed and a new muffler and I still hear that buzzing sound and it does feel like it’s stuck in a gear... not to mention my Service 4WD light is on. What’s wrong w/ it. Share your thoughts.
Figured it out. It was because of the breaks and the rotor was pressing and it was bad. So I replaced the breaks, pads and rotor and the sounds disappeared.
Does it work the same with first gear I have a 1941 Chevy special deluxe coupe 2 speed manual 3 on the tree my probably is first gear would get stuck but will shift is 2nd and 3rd np always gets stuck in 1st and I would have to give it gas while letting go of clutch and shift hard for it to move

My miata transmission sometimes gets stuck in reverse, been trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong and it would stink if it was a synchro

Sorry but that sounds like something sheared off inside. I’m guessing it will require a tear down and inspection to find the defective part.

The gear oil should be either GL-1 or GL-4. Never use GL-5, because it will eat the yellow metal parts.

I’m sorry but the T-90 is the only transmission I’m familiar with. I have no idea what would cause that in a Chevy transmission.
