This may be my favorite original design of yours ever. Love it. Usually G&G is too much for me but the way you dial it back (like with the Guild G&G blanket chest...another favorite which I just had to buy the plans for, came out great) makes it really special.
I think we should start calling these arts and craft pieces as they are made by a craftsman or we could call it modern craftsman. It is not factory made and is made by an individual. Maybe in the video title he should dropped the inspired part and just give it a name. I think a new movement needs to start out there of some form. Modern society is so boring and does not really have a spirit of design like past periods of culture. In 100 years time we will be forgotten to be honest.
This is just crazy beautiful. It’s hard to imagine so much time and effort for something you don’t get to keep! Also, that square-drill-chisel-thing?!?!
Beautiful piece. I'm glad you mentioned finishing the panels before assembly. I see too many woodworkers finish after and wonder how long before shrinkage exposes unfinished wood.
Mark, A few years back I started watching your videos and thought this was the guy I wanted to learn from. I bought almost every Festool product that I saw you use. Then something happened between you and Festool and you stopped using Festool products almost all together. I just happened to run across this video and said I need to see what Mark has been up too. Well, I was pleased to see you using some Festool products. I sincerely love my Festool tools. I find that it is fun to use this tools rather than heavy machinery. I will continue to watch you now because you are using Festool products again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So glad you are making videos again! Hopefully I'll be at Friday live tomorrow if I can recover from my 2nd kid starting kindergarten tomorrow! All this sawdust in my eyes.
Details: very Greene & Greene. Proportions: very Asian. Results: beautiful hybrid. Hey, man, I been at this 40 years, I've worked with ebony before, but I hadn't figured on how easy it could be to make those beautiful ebony buttons. Thanks for teaching me!
Thanks. This looks like a great design for my last of four hope chests for my great nieces. I've built a Stickley, a FLW Prairie and Farm House inspired ones. This will fill the list perfectly especially as I was looking for a different style and wood.
Maybe an odd comment, but as a new wood worker, thanks for disclosing timelines. I find myself awful at estimating the time required for this stuff. Beautiful work. Things to aspire to.
Great job Marc. I personally think it's a disservice not to teach someone the most efficient way to do something when possible, but i think you did a great job with this one working efficiently and properly. Beautiful end product. 👍
240 pages of b w, and color pics. History of G G as well as the Hall Bros. Hall Brosnan actually did all building , while Greene and Greene drew plans. Have fun researching this book. I purchased from Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller several yrs ago. Hope this helps. I have learned from your video, adding to my dim knowledge. I built, blanket chest w hidden drawer in base end, G,G drafting table, dinning table, and night stands. My favorite in w w.
Great video Marc. I learned several different techniques from this project. The ebony plug portion was a real eye opener for me. It would have saved me a lot "weeping and gnashing of teeth" had I seen it earlier. Thank you again for sharing what you have learned.
Very nice. You've inspired me to make something similar. Also to look into green and green. 👍 At the beginning of the video you refer to the bandsaw blade guide as a safety device and say that you lower it to protect your fingers. But it isn't a safety device and offers no protection to your fingers. I believe it is there to help prevent the blade wandering along the grain when ripping and so should always be dropped down to just above the work. Thanks for posting this, I'm often asked to make entrance storage seats and will try to make some simpler versions of this.
Mark, this is a stunning piece~!! I too love the Greene & Greene style. I was ready to go straight to the Guild page to look up the plans until I saw your link containing my favorite 4-letter "F-word"......FREE~!! (Yeah, you were thinking the other one, huh? FOOD~! LOL) Beautiful work (as usual) and thanks for the plans~!!
hi mark i have been watching your video's for inspiration since you began. one thing i have noticed is that you always feed your timber through the thicknesser in the middle. when i trained my gaffer taught me to always start on one side and then feed the pieces through offset from the last so that you use the entire blade. this way the blades wear evenly and you save a ton of money in sharpening.

Beautiful job Mark, I appreciate the free plans.. I downloaded them to humour myself that I will ever have enough talent to use them... lol. Thanks.
You have a wonderful traditional sense of style Mr . Marc ps. You could do a lot worse than G& G 😂
I watched this before but it keeps popping up in my feed. So I watch it again, possibly your most beautiful piece of work I have seen.
This is why I watch your videos because you are an amazing woodworker.
It's a indescribable pleasure to watch a professional mastering tools and materials in such a way.

This is a stunning piece. Whoever or whatever inspired it, it came out fantastic. Also you have a beast of a jointer!

You both have such great channels! Thanks for all the inspiration Make Something & Wood Whisper!
Make Something Thanks brother. I’ve gotten used to not keeping things. I’d need a much bigger house to keep it all 😂
Sir....One Day I may be as good as you.. today isn't that day...good work my friend.
A great looking bench to last a long time.
Absolutely beautiful piece of furniture and craftmanship.
That design would make a phenomenal desk.
Green and Green is one of my favorite styles !
OK Marc, I’m inspired. Not too long ago I mentioned to my wife that we need something like this and now you’ve made one. Thanks for the inspiration.
It looks fantastic, Marc! I'm always amazed at how you can break down something that looks complicated like this into simple steps. Thank you!
Beautiful piece. I'm glad you mentioned finishing the panels before assembly. I see too many woodworkers finish after and wonder how long before shrinkage exposes unfinished wood.
Beginners' mistake.
I like greene and greene, but i will stick to my usual......black and blue. One of your best. Fantastic work

I'm not a G&G fan but I'm loving the look of this. The extended overhang and the gentle curves. Keep it up you two!
Thumbs up for the sarcastic reference to the obnoxious “Nailed It!”.
Gorgeous. Simply beautiful work.
Wow! This piece is easily described as Meticulous Perfection in my humble opinion. Thanks for sharing! Its quite inspiring.

Tayler Made I do use the center most often but the outsides still get used. You usually only get to see a few boards and a few passes.
What a beautiful piece!
That's pretty cool. I work at the DMA so I see these doors quite a bit
Beautiful piece.
Beautiful art piece Marc, good job
Beautiful. Love the style and the look.
