That's not a synthesizer. It's just a pick-up mute hooked up to the synthesizer. I have the same exact mute for practicing.

My middle school band teacher showed this video to my jazz bad when I was in 6th grade, I’m now 21 and still watching to this video all the time, may Mr. Navarro Rest In Peace, he is now helping directing the big band in heaven

I watch this so many times in my childhood because my dad is a professional trombone player and I had every part memorized. The fact that this is still on my for you page is awesome.
As a former trombonist, I've got to say that these guys are amazing!
My Grandfather and I both play trombone and he has been playing for over 63 years and he professionally plays jazz and was in the U.S. Navy band and my other grandpa was in it to but played trumpet :P. And my grandpa is just absolutely amazing! and no offence to other instruments but you have to admit trombones have the most style to them.

Trombones totally have the most style. People who play barritone have no logic.
Cole Drinkwater I learned baritone a few years ago (after about 6 years playing trombone) to join marching band. (We don't March 'bones) and I just have to add that they definitely have their place. They don't have the same kind of soul as a 'bone, but that doesn't mean they don't have one. A baritone is warm in tone and exact in sound, it's hard to beat if you need to do anything faster than sixteenth notes on the bass clef without risking a muddy sound.

not if you know what you are doing, but my marching band marches bones and It's fun, but at the same time the trombone is the hardest to march. With its length and clumsiness. And then you see the color guard complaining about their flags and claim that it's really dangerous.
But the trombone looks the best in the marching band.

I remember when I first came across this, maybe 2 months after it was posted. I wish they were still doing new stuff.
My little brother just started school, and he plays the trombone. I'm going to make him play like this. He is never going to quit band on my watch.
Better to show him this, and let him play what he wants to hear. Trust me, if this isn't the sort of music he likes to listen to, he'll never be able to play it well, because he simply won't want to, or even really care what it is supposed to sound like. Professionalism can get you pretty far, but to really excel, you have to love it too.

I know this is 9 years late 👀but usually you have to use a different embouchure than they teach in band for trombone/euphonium. Basically you don't press your lips together and blow to buzz. Rather your lips should barely touch/even have a pin needle sized space in the middle of your lips and when you blow it'll create a resistance that brings the lips together to produce a more open sound. The way you buzz into the horn should not work when buzzing into just your mouthpiece at least when going for warm middle tones. *TLDR: don't press the lips together so hard*

I played trombone since I was 9, and stopped for the few years I've been in college. I haven't touched my trombone in years but after watching this, I think I know what I'm gonna be doing all weekend.
I'm just starting trombone in 5 grade and these guys make me want to play
Stay with it. Band is hard sometimes but I'm so glad I did it. Practice a lot and you'll get far. Good luck!
like ces said stay with it and practice but there will be some diffuculties along the way i know i had trouble when i first started out but now i play tuba and i can play most the songs that i get with my eyes closed

On our final competition of my freshman year, one of the color guard flags caught our section leader's slide and flung it forward at least 6 yards.
*shudders in fear* I'd cry. Seriously, one of our color guard hit the hell out of the edge of my slide and I almost died. Like when she hit it, the whole instrument shook.

Howard Nickerson I guess when Trumpet players are out making music, trombone players make snarky comments on UA-cam. (I actually play both instruments. I left the whiny stereotypes behind in High School Band, though. If anything, Brass should unite!)
Howard Nickerson I am a trumpet player, and I can honestly say that I have never felt any sort of resent toward trombone players, or any other brass players for that matter. Hostility in the band just leads to a very poor performance. If someone is good at something, be happy for them, it just makes everyone better all around.
