Just some insight about the origins. The gat originated from the Central Asian steppes where the people must endure the harsh, wind-swept weathers, many of these cultures had full head covers and hooded riding coats. These type of hats were used by nomadic people living in these regions used as a protection against the wind and sand blasts. Due to the cultural exchange during the Tang Dynasty between nomadic cultures, Chinese, and other East Asian cultures, this type of hat came to China, Japan and Korea. In China, it evolved into the Weimao and Damao, in Japan, the ichimegasa, and in Korea, the gat. It came to Korea during the Three Kingdoms period of Korea where it became a fashionable item, and during the Mongol Yuan rule of Korea, the gat got Mongol influence, and because of the heavy Confucian influence on Joseon, this hat became widespread amongst the Korean bureaucrats. By the way, I majored in East Asian studies.

Yeongshin is my favorite in the whole series. I admit I didn't really like Beompal at the first part of the series, but was glad to see his development. But I swear he was always getting saved by Yeongshin and if Yeongshin died while saving him, Idk I will flip all my shit lol
KINGDOM is one of a kind kdrama!! not at all like the typical zombie movies!!! amazing story line and absolute amszing actors and present in the drama!! A MUST WATCH for alllll!!
I have always love that senior officer hat. I think even after a few hundred years of creation, it still looks cool and will never get out of fashion. Kudos to whichever ancient brilliant designer who created it.

The top kot is called as 'sang too' and it is for grown up men. Since those who were married were also regarded as grown ups, underaged boys who were married also had the sang too as well.
