Great build, very unique swap idea. Nice welds, smart man for the back purging, makes all the difference. Some good quality mandrel bends you guys offer. Should sound great. 👍🏻
Super nice work! Makes me want to get an tig-welder and 07k swap my 944 as well, then I realize I don't have enough hours in a day so following along this build will do for now. Looks great!
@ECS 🥳 In 50 years I have never won anything ever so fingers crossed this is genuine, prize big or small doesn’t matter… nor have I been called a loyal fan… anyway, you deserve praise for wide ranging artisan skills and no hyperbole in your videos. Keep up the good work. I comment from years as an VW Audi master tech, Automotive Engineer and work in a race team so feel qualified. When I started 944’s were in the same show room as the VW Audi products.
Fantastic video with lots of detail! Maybe ECS (or Mike) will start making these and selling? Lots of 944 guys are going O7K and having a manifold built for the car would be better than using a manifold designed for a VW. Keep the awesome content coming!
Love the walkthrough of the manifold design. I am wondering what the plan is for the rest of the drivetrain? Historically guys swapped to all of the 944 turbo stuff because they believed the base 944 wouldn’t take the abuse
I’m so envious of your fabrication skills! Curious about how you approach finish welding the manifold - things seem really tight and I’m not sure how you get your tig torch in there…
Amazing progress! Love the welding you do. I assume you decided to use a spring at the wastegate because its much easier and probably less maintenance intensive compared to an electronic wastegate with actual intake/charging pressure as control signal? The latter option would compensate for drift and efficiency losses of the turbo.
Love the idea and information in this series! But i must say the camera work needs some attention. Its a little rough sometimes with the zoom and the movements. But i love what y'all are doing here 👍
That wastegate layout has pros and cons, i think your way increases some lag, but has better top power... but as always you cannot have all the best things in turbo-machine
Probably depends on what the rulebook says for the rally org he's going to run with. Im building mine to NASA Rallysport reqs and they require an all metal roof. So I cut a non-sunroof roof off a 924 that I will be replacing my 944 roof with after adding the cage
That manifold is a piece of art!
This guy is a badass fabricator

WOW, just priceless work here!
One of the nicest turbo manifold I have ever seen.. looks so good!!
No doubt. Mike's an artist.
@@ecstuning adding these to your site would be nice! Us swap guys need manifolds.
I've been waiting for another 5 Cylinder 944 build
Man those are some nice welds!

Thank you for the educational videos. I have learned so much.
Love the content and that you take the time to explain the technical aspects of the job. Great camera work and editing too. Immediately subscribed.
love the Porche content!
great production quality!!
Came over from Donut Media after watching Mike build sick roll cage
Your work is always stellar 👌
love this project
Nice. Properly done… no corners cut (no pun intended).

Thank you for the kind words! that was a fake account unfortunately.
Gonna sound sweet!
Awesome fab work. Very keen to see this build progress.
>talks about things being daunting
>cuts car in half
Very interesting, never heard of circular firing orders before 🔥thanks for sharing your knowledge and passing it on, that's what life's about 🤟
Damn..!!!! Blown away

Thanks! No plans at this time to mass produce manifolds.
Nice work.
Nice work 🤘🏽
Mike you are so talented damn!!
Frigging awsome build 👌👌👌
This place is amazing.
That is so so cool

Wow.
There’s enough people out there that want a better one

Mike says: "I went with a traditional wastegate for cost purposes. But, I will be running a solenoid with the standalone to control boost."

What borgwarner turbo is that? EFR series?
🔥

what transmission do you use ?
Let’s goooooooo
Mega fabrication, do you want to make more?
Don't forget to add a cat, most rally series require them.
are you going to be putting the original roof back on or will you be replacing it with something lighter

The plan is to put the old roof back on!
The manifold design is bad ass but that head flange looks a bit flimsy.
Your reciprocating saw needs to be confiscated and put under lock and key!
Uhhh
Start selling it.
P
Start selling it.
