    I only want to play it cause I play guitar hero and everyone keeps telling me to stop playing a plastic guitar

    I taught myself to play. I've been playing for 5 years now, just about, Rocksmith has shown me only a few things I thought was cool. I still like it though. But I too also recommend it to beginners. The only hard thing in working on now is sweep picking. And I can still do that, but not on a highly advanced level like the pros....yet. :)

    I've played about 15 years and enjoyed the first Rocksmith. It's an interesting way to practice or learn. At very least it made me play a lot of different things I'd never usually play. I like that your guitar sounds like what you're trying to play without fiddling with distortion/FX. I'm glad to see this stuff so more people learn a real guitar instead of a plastic toy guitar. Don't even think it's a shortcut, I think the idea is you enjoy practice more and spend more time on it.

      Do you think this would work for beginners? I want to learn to play but UA-cam videos go to fast and lessons can be expensive.

    For anyone interested in using this method to learn guitar, do it! I have the first rocksmith and the this game is like guitar hero but the actual chords and note combinations. It only works with guitars that can be plugged into an amp, so electric acoustic guitars can work. If u have any doubts watch a review.

    Its not just lessons and tools to help you learn. If someone ever wanted to learn a full song, it teaches you how to play the exact notes and chords as they are written. Also these are developers of the game, not just paid actors. I'm not trying to attack you, but if you are a true musician then you realize that there are many different methods of learning. This is simply another tool to help people pick up a great hobby or skill. Also it has fun mini games, great for gamers and guitarist alike.

    "Shortcut" is a euphemism. What is really meant is learning without technological help. Look at Jimi Hendrix for example. What i think that other dude was saying is the best one's did it the harder way. Not saying that the internet and Rocksmith aren't legitimate ways. But i'm trying to get my speed up, and looking at colors and stuff on rocksmith hasn't helped me more than replaying crazy train. Rocksmith is actually harder for me than playing the guitar without it. but that's just me.

  • @liligman

    If it has pickups it will work. If you had a tissue box with an E, A, D, G, B and e string with pickups and a 1/4 jack, you could play this game

  • @Taterzz
    @Taterzz 10 років тому +1

    as anyone who plays any instrument will tell you that "jam time" is not the same as "practice time". anyone who's truly interested will put in the practice time in order to make their jam times more fun. that's not to say this can't be a good tool to stimulate though.

  • @gvsuvball
    @gvsuvball 10 років тому +1

    You would have to put a mic right in front of your guitar for it to work. That mic would have to be compatible with the Xbox. Also if you noticed not a single person in the video had an acoustic guitar.

    I get where you are speaking from. Now I know since I learned the basics from a teacher you have a point. But just from my knowledge of the guitar I can already tell that this wouldn't be the way to go. But since you don't want to pay for a teacher rocksmith is probably better than learning by yourself and using youtube.

    1. A piano version of this seems very realistic, although perhaps it would require a keyboard? As far as I'm aware piano's don't have sockets do they?
    2. There's always the possibility... unlikely, though.
    3. It will :D Oh yeah, I'm dead certain about that.

    I bust through songs in the first Rocksmith like crazy, but i lost interest because i wanted to get my shredding better. And becuase i played the Guitar before-hand, their "dynamic difficulty" put in multiple chords and bends that kept catching me by suprise after playing one note and power chords. It is still a really fun game though.

    It's not a shortcut, its a different way to practice. If you did have any knowledge about the guitar you would realize that it doesn't matter how you learn, it only matters how hard you try and stick with it.

    • @hailiewhite1521

    Wow. I may consider getting this. I've wanted to learn to play for years, but always kept putting it off. But I'd have to get an electric guitar too, since all I have is an acoustic. Unless there's some add-on I don't know about.

  • @PandosII
    @PandosII 10 років тому +2

    I see what you're saying, but... How could you possibly know which is better if you learned the basics from a real teacher and not from this game? This game could be 100 times better than a real teacher but you have no point of reference.
    Anyway I'm considering getting this because it looks to have tens of hours of tuition for £40 that I'd be paying a real teacher £15-£25 an hour for. The math wins the argument for Rocksmith.
    Disclaimer: *IN MY OPINION*
    P.S. "then" and "than" are different.

    As a guitarist I can personally guarantee you that he does not "know" all of the scales or chords. I don't doubt that this is an excellent learning tool (one I would like to try out), but its not going to teach you everything and its definitely not "the fastest way to learn". It's just another way for people to learn. Which is a good thing.
