    I wish this was available back when I started learning. It keeps things fun. The little fun games help you really progress on chords, bridge placement and string placement. It's so easy when self learning to hit a plateau and learn 6-10 chords and not branch out. With rocksmith you don't have much of a choice but to progress and it keeps you wanting to because..it's a game. I started Rocksmith today and it blows my mind and I can tell already that not only am I going to have fun but I'll pick up on techniques and bridge chord progressions that I've been lazy learning. You sounded great and what's more fun than picking up a new skill while also playing a game! Learning doesn't have to be boring scales and repeatedly trying single chords looking at tabs or music on paper or screen. I think this is revolutionary for guitar learning and it blows my mind it's been around for so long. A new one is coming out this year 😁 I can't wait!

      Awesome! It definitely kick-started my journey. I need to work with it some more -- I have been playing, but not heavily working with with the game lately. Good luck on your journey!

      I think it can definitely be a tool to help learn guitar but idk how well it teaches scales or if they just teach techniques and chords and shows you how to play songs but it can absolutely keep you motivated in learning for sure with the mini games etc

      @@Seagull425 It doesn't really delve into theory pentatonics/scales so being self sufficient it will only get you so far and likely some bad technique but it certainly helps with the plateau

      @@Sakura0754 its a good tool to get started but making it youre only tool for learning isnt very good it has built in lesson with videos which do help you learn techniques but i found after 500 hours of rocksmith and hundreds of songs 100 at percent i don't remember any of them without the game in front of me they have a mastery mode which helped me learn a few but i find it i can easily download a new song and play it perfectly but i never really remember them unless ive played them all 100 times

      @@madhatterentmt6146 What if you got some software for your computer like Band in a Box, where you can take the chords from the songs and put them in Band in the Box in the same order along with the correct accompanying instruments with the same beat / groove ? I think it's a great way to play the same songs, beginning to end without having to use Rocksmith. He will help you memorize chord progressions and give you jam tracks to play your solos over. ......or just practice scales and modes.

    Looks like you had a lot of experience before day 1. You knew how to play basic chords and change quickly. I just tried playing RS14 and I can barely get single notes out with long delays. lol But, you definitely improved in 60 days. Can't wait to see the same results myself.

      @MissionEdPossible  2 місяці тому +1

      Admittedly, yes, I had played before. I wanted to see if I could get better. Chord changes (especially C to G or D) are still way slow for me. I also have been playing piano for 40+ years, so I had that going on too. I still haven't progressed much since I started playing guitar again. I did find my RealTone cable though again recently, so I might pick it back up. Glad you enjoyed the video!

      I play every once in a while, but to be honest, I spend most of my "music time" playing the keyboard, since I'm now in a band, and don't have a lot of time to focus on two different instruments. I definitely think that it's a viable way to practice, but having a real guitar teacher I think is also required - there's so many technical aspects that just can't be conveyed in a medium such as this. That being said, good luck with your guitar journey!

    RS has you playing some pretty difficult chords for beginner, four finger chords should only be taught when the basics are firmly established, and watching the video it was the four finger sliding up the neck that did you in. But all in all you did well.

    • @MissionEdPossible
      @MissionEdPossible  9 місяців тому +1

      One of my gripes with RS is that it isn't great about the difficulty level. IMO, the default adaptive difficulty mode is complete garbage. It really kills your motivation when you're doing great and then all of a sudden it gets *MUCH* harder... The manual setting of the levels is a little odd too, because it has you playing weird things by dropping notes. That's not great either. I elected to go with the 100% difficulty option, so there's no changing anything, but that means that I really had to pick the songs wisely -- I couldn't just play anything at a much lower difficulty. It's the way I wanted to play it, and the goal was to just get good :) Thanks for the comments!

    • @weasel6535
      @weasel6535 9 місяців тому

      I watched parts again, you actually did pretty damn great for Eye of the Tiger (hate that song), there were some fast fret jumps. IF! they actually built a beginner to advanced system using this method I could see tons of new players adopting it. I have taught myself using books and UT but getting real feedback as you play, if they modified the system for that, would be tremendous. Cheers. (BTW - do you still play, this video was 2 years ago).

You think you are doing well, and then suddenly it throws a bunch of stuff at you that you don't know, and then it makes you feel horrible. Thankfully that's able to be shut off, and I do!
