Very helpful, I've found the overexposure warning with the Mavic 3 to be very conservative. When I get the warning to go away, most of my exposure is a bit too dark. (I shoot over water a lot and the white of boats or houses sets it off.) This LUT will be a great all purpose tool to get that data back.
Always giving back to the community, and yet a lot never friggin see it! Good stuff bro, keep doing what your doing!!

I’m looking forward to the DaVinci Resolve videos. I’v chosen that as my editor (just getting started after years of still photography) and it seems like most of the UA-camrs use Premiere Pro. Resolve seems like the underdog.

Yeah dLog loves to be overexposed and it can be a bit scary to see that exposure warning at +1 or +1.3 but knowing everything is fine. Thanks for the free LUT mate.

Used d log on the air2s for the first time. It wasn't very good. Came out very dark as I chose the wrong ND filter and my shutter speed was set wrong. Still I know what I did wrong to correct for next time. Thanks for the tips on luts. Nice.

The Mavic 3 has dual native iso at 400 and 800 (confirmed by DJI support), which is why it gets capped at 800 for dlog. This unfortunately causes some lack of exposure for night shots which can be a problem.
But why is it locked at a minimum of 400 ISO in D-log? I dont understand this

So on the Mavic 3 the only real exposure tool is the histogram. When you say “overexpose” do you mean to push things up to the right hand edge of the histogram, or are you suggesting to go past that by a bit?
ETTR Expose to the right, using histogram which is all I use.

Thanks Ken for the great info about tuning D-Log with your LUT. I do appreciate the time and effort you put into developing it. I, too, love to wear my hat backwards and I think most FPV pilots do the same because goggles :) I propose we start "The Cinematic Douchebag Society" as an "inside joke". Great video Ken. I noticed the same thing with most DJI drones from the Inspire 1 to the Mavic 3… we don’t overexpose Log 1.0 to 2.0 like we do with our Sony’s, Fuji’s, and other land cameras.. you still using your Fuji, Black Magic, or Panny, or did you ever go back to Sony? Also do we get any 10 bit in any other profile but log on our M3?,.. hoping we get 10 bit in the standard profile like the 2 through firmware..

Have you had any troubles with noise from Mavic 3? I have noticed a lot in the Pro Res CINE footage even at 400 ISO
Pro Res is crazy noisy on the 3
I spent hours denoising it the other day, Lets hope the can include other versions of pro res with less noise and make the CINE model worth it...

Hi, do you know why there's no option for 100 ISO in DLOG on the Mavic 3 like there was on the Mavic 2 Pro? 100 ISO has always been my preferred choice but now it's confusing with the Mavic 3
The native ISO of the Mavic 3 is 400. It should have the least amount of noise before editing.

Just discovered your channel. Definitely can learn things from you. Much appreciated. I don’t have a Mavic 3 yet, I’m still on my P4Pv2 but I am very interested in its capabilities. Question about how you’re determining your over or under exposure while shooting.
Do you first set it in normal mode, get a good exposure looking at your histogram, then switch it to D-log and adjust? Or do you have it in D-log from the get-go? and what determines for you whether it’s on, under, or over exposed?
Working with the P for P, I’m used to shooting in D Cinelike. I can judge pretty well from my histogram now what’s proper exposure.
I’ve been told by the people I provide my footage to that D-Log on the P4p is just too hard to bring back to a full range of tones. The D-Cinelike seems to be a good compromise.
I l try to float the histogram to the center with D-Log. Putting it back and forth isn’t apples to apples with exposure

Lost my beloved P4P v2 last week. Hardware error, Lost GPS, then connection to transmitter. So I have to replace and deciding to upgrade to newest Tech. I shoot more stills than video, but of course have to provide video content for most clients at some point.
Seems like most serious filmmakers are not too impressed with the 2nd camera/telephoto lens on the M3. I'm thinking of getting the Classic (assuming the only thing I'd miss out on was the 2nd lens.)
I could put that $500 into more batteries & accessories. Your opinion?

I do a .7 stop which is good. Try the Phantom luts I find they work awesome. I use the ones for Sony cameras on D-Log and it works

screen calibrated? as you may be correcting your monitor settings and what you see may not be what others do..
My monitors are calibrated every 30 days. With monitors the variance is small if some one has a factory calibrated monitor.
Not always necessary. Most people edit with scopes. I also calibrate my monitors every month.
Correct scopes are the correct way
Especially when it comes to log

Movavi gave me the license only hence I mark it paid if they provide. For more intensive workloads I use premiere pro
