Your strategy of taking half off the table at 100% gains is a great way of doing things (in all investments). You reduce your cost basis to 0 and ride the rest for free.
Recognizing the cycles of what’s going on as a whole is pretty important -people were able to get swsh positions early on at “pretty cheap” prices so those people are willing to cycle out of their positions at lower price points than others. It’s playing the waiting game of people moving out of those positions and the floor organically raising on those items to meet the prices your willing to sell at, but patience and Pokémon for most, never mixed well
I've gotten to the point with my sealed product that I don't even need to "hide it away and forget about it" It literally makes me happy to continuously add to my seal product collection. Little to no desire to open anymore, because the idea of passive gains excite me more than any of the pulls can.
I don't need to churn anymore with my collection. Just letting it go up in value over time. I believe long term you can't beat the returns of just holding.
I agree with you man totally buy it set it aside forget about it You think fusion strike will be £250 in 5 years Everyone wants the quick money them days have gone Through your channel I have started watching alpha investments and it’s been amazing and eye opening I think you and the pokeplumber should do a live together love it when you two get together Keep up the great content brother 🔥🔥
I’m fine with not making quick money but fusion strike better be more than $300 in 5 years lol….(rough estimate of €250 pounds). Fusions roughly $200. I’d expect more than a 50% gain in 5 years…. 😬 hope I’m not being unrealistic
i dumped my s&s realized my gains and kept 2 sealed cases of each paid for buy my gains. i havenet bought any scarlet and violet except one box of each as life happened had didn't have the Pokemon cash
Scarlet and violet will do well for sure, better then what people think, but I really think that swsh it’s the big dog of modern Pokémon. Swsh it’s doing well and it will do very very well in the next 2-5 years. I only see positive things for swsh in the future, especially the major sets. Btw, did you see the alternative cards of evolving skies ? It seems to me that they are sky rocketing in the last few months, at least in my language (Italian). Keep up the good work Alex!
Be a Ronco Rotisserie Oven (back in the 80’s/90’s)..... “You set it and forget it”. In case with Pokémon, change the word set to buy. Some of my sealed are still in their original shipping boxes and in storage right after they arrived. I guess I trust my LCS too much. 🤨
All of these sets will grow over the next five years. However, they can’t all be $1,000 boxes and won’t be. Keep your expectations within reason and continue to hold until there is enough gains from a single booster box sale to pay you back for it and allow you to reinvest in newer products
15-25% gains is good if your already up on the investment. If you bought in and see a 15-25% it's nothing when you have to factor in 13% taken straight away for selling fees along with postage and packaging costs. Just need to remember if you get in at a price you need to see roughly a 30% rise in price AFTER the purchase price to see good gains
@hieinh your correct to some degree but buyers will always try to haggle and will request 80% of market value due to no fees. Either way you take a hit.
I haven't purchased cards in such a long time that I sometimes forget I have a bunch of sealed product in the corner lol I still watch TCG content daily but I'm starting to forget what products I had purchased for investment purposes already since they were all paid for by previous TCG gains. I just really REALLY dislike this S&V era right now and don't even know what I'm comfortable in investing in - SWSH was so much easier.
Weird take and flex but ok. I don’t see how you like sword and shield era and not like scarlet and violet era. Scarlet/violet has just as much beauty if not more, and so far, it hasn’t been printed to the ground like some of sword and shield was. No brainer investment. My take? Stick to booster boxes and pc ETBs, buy cases if you can afford it, and buy the boxes when they are less than $100 and you can’t go wrong. Don’t understand the confusion
Best thing to do is buy right after the release dip and not look back. The whole mentally of saying it will always get cheaper or it's going to zero is never true. Even Crimson Invasion is $260 so if you bought at $70 or $75 when they were giving it away, you have a huge gain
Holding booster boxes long term is the safest way to make money, churn and burn is like the day traders. Can be lots of fun but might miss long term gains
Buy and forget, just like your retirement or IRA accounts. I’m super passionate about Pokemon and the hobby so for me personally, I do not mind holding my products at all. Wish everyone success in your Pokemon investments! Great video by the way.
Great video again 👊 All investments experience pull backs. Keeps the market healthy by keeping a potential investment obtainable for others to buy in at a later date
people should also be mindful that $100 profit really isn't much if they take in the factors of fees from buying and reselling then also if the sale is on record you will be stuck paying for taxes so it is better to hold for the long term
Sometimes, your titles confuse me. Then I watch the video, and I go oh that's what he was talking about. I appreciate your in-depth look at the trends and remove yourself from them. Like the covid situation and looking a year after it towards a much regular market. Keep up the great work!!!
Seeing swings at this point doesn’t bother me. Personally I’m lazy and rolling over profits into a new set isn’t something I see myself doing. Im not considering selling anything off till the average price for swsh is 500+ for a bb. At that point I’ll sell off my lose bb’s and the cases will be kept till everything else is sold so I can get the best premium for them. My long term plan is once my collection hits 250k+ currently 60k I’ll start moving it over into the stock market. I fully expect this to take atleast 5-7 years and add a few more to sell off at the best price.
Thanks for the vid! I agree. But I wonder if we will ever hit a ceiling for booster box prices after 10+ years. Will we ever reach a max price people are willing to pay even if supply keeps dropping? What do you think?
Hey nostalgia…. How are you feeling about xy evolutions ETB? They have been stagnant for years now. Should I sell them to invest in booster boxes? Or keep holding onto them? TIA!
By 2030, an Evolving Skies box will be worth wayyyyy more than its current market value, and so as the other popular sets within that era. Yeh, it's a long while, but just stash them booster boxes/cases away and forget about them. The same will happen with S&V and so on. History always repeats itself with Pokemon. Great video as usual man.👍
Started my initial investment with sword and shield in August 2024. So yes I paid alot, bit under TCG to my house. I'ma go iron hands, 2027 should be a good year for me.
Would love a video just dedicated to the rise, fall and stagnation of vivid voltage and your thoughts on the future of the set. Very random I know 😂. I think a lot can be learned by the vivid voltage roller coaster. How many people used these stimulus checks on VV? 🤮
@@chickenj90 there is dude. You just didn't buy early enough and at the right place. I paid 90 a box shipped for two cases broskii Booster Boxes are 145 do math. That's 540 a case. Yes it's possible just get in early enough
The title of this video threw me off 😂😂😂 maybe with super modern stuff, but I don't see any reason sets over 5 years old would EVER go down other than entire market capitulation
A UA-camr needs to start cutting packs before opening and if he cuts a good card then the trend happens and we will have less good cards and prices might go up a bit everywhere and psa 10 will be more valuable I don’t got the money to waste doing videos like that but I wouldn’t mind opening one keep then cut the next in half and so on 😂🎉
It's the same cycle over again. At release of SV nobody loved it, stick with SWSH. Now we are after the mid point of SV and people shift to SV calling it a good investment. And thus SWSH goes into stagnation. But then SV reprint happens and it will shift back once more. That gives a good opportunity to get some SWSH around or below 200 a booster box to add to your collection. And wait for the SV reprint window starting with SV151 of course. Add some more SV. And meanwhile SWSH will get into a new cycle of gaining to a new price point beyond the ath from say May to July this year. When we're getting into the end stage of SV with the last sets next year SWSH will take the SM route and the reprint window ended on SV sets like 151/Paldea will take the SWSH route. Until the next era starts and the follow-up after SV gets hated, SV will see more gains. Rinse and repeat. Hell Celebrations might get some action once that 30 year anniversary gets closer and closer.

I’m happy for the cooling off period. I’m buying more booster boxes for the sets I really believe in. Basically chilling reign to silver tempest.
I have to agree that S&V is better than SS but once nostalgia kicks in, those SS bbs will go for crazy prices, more power to those who will persevere.
