Such a good game. Mods made actually make it playable! I've been trying to find out how to get added to the botf group community. Not such a huge fan of the big ship numbers because the turns can take a really long time.
It may be nearly two decades in the making, but the modding community definitely made sure BOTF holds up well in multiplayer and single. Without them, I'm not sure the tournaments we've been having on discord would even be possible.
