Yeah, it's nice to finally bring some of this stuff to light. Most of lines were probably just recorded in case you stole a ship with Card/Fed/Ferg-- I quite appreciate little details like that the Developers didn't ignore. @@TREKraisaturdays I forgot about the still there option to capture/have cloaked ships from other races, usually Yridians. It happens so rarely in my plays lol. Thanks for the video. I can't decide if I remember it because I watched it back in the day, or because I remember the clips from the series.
Hey. My PC died and all I have now is an even older mid tier laptop. To add insult to injury, it won't run the game. It installed and patched, but nothing happens when I try to run it. With or without DXwnd. I am running Windows 10 as I did with my PC. Any suggestions? And no, getting a new PC is out of the question as I am unfortunately poor. I can't figure out why it refuses to run.
I've not been able to get my disk version working on Windows eleven or ten with DXWND either. So unfortunately troubleshooting this is beyond my means especially when I'm not well acquainted with other PC's other than my own. It was much easier for to uninstall everything I had to get a new installer from AFC site. It is legal to use so long as you own an original copy of the game. I recommend this one: www.armadafleetcommand.com/get-files?cw_action=fileview&file_id=1958 If you do go own this route, you'd probably want to check 'Birth of the Federation' (original game by Microprose) and selecting windowed proxy mode as fullscreen is not always working on all laptops. There are options for replacement ship TGA files. For your purposes I would uncheck these so that the game looks exactly the same. For GUI 800 x 600 is of course the original option, but I also reccomend the larger 1024 x 768 size for comfort and the fact that it uses same space nebula backdrop from the original. @@TREKraisaturdays I thought I mentioned it, anyway I fixed it so no need for extra steps, still thank you very much for your help. How did I fix it? Well, I uninstalled the game....and re installed it, patched it and then run the same old DXwnd version I use for years now and it worked. Windows 10. My only issue is that for some reason the mouse cursor does not remain inside the window, so I have to be careful to not have other windows or clickable objects around the game window. I don't know why it doesn't work though.
@@TrusteftStrategyOkay that's good news! I wish I could be of help but it's been forever since I've tried using only dxwnd to get botf to work and I have no idea. Anyway, I'm sad that we won't get to see the Ferengi LP's official ending (unless you backed up the save file somewhere...)
@@TREKraisaturdays No worries, you tried to help. :) As for backup, not really. It didn't cross my mind. Hopefully the drives are still ok and if I never find a solution (win the lotto or something to get a new PC) I will be able to save the files and continue the campaign.
