I’m Colombian American and Bogotá is relatively safe not any worse than Los Angeles, Chicago, etc, but you gotta be aware at all times and try to blend in as much as possible. Don’t go out looking for ho0kwrs and don’t flash jewelry or wads of cash and you will be alright.

Man you were "dando papaya" so hard my friend... This is an area where people drool over people acting like you to pass by, im really sorry it happend to you. But Filming made you stick out like a sore thumb and made you look really naive to the people. Still if you play your cards right you can get away with it. But then you started negotiating with people there and went to get beer,,,,, so so dangerous man, you need to treat people on the streets there with a smile and a wave goodbye always...
Dress down and dont make a fuss around yourself, eg by walking about filming as if you were in the local park at home; dont carry your valuables around with you, dont do phone banking, use currency prepaid debit cards with $1000 loaded up on each, split money and cards up, carry no more than $30 in the pocket, avoid underemployed overfriendly people, use family-run hotels and avoid newly imported Western concepts like online dating and air b'n'b. If you want to meet a woman chat up a shop girl or visit a regular bordello, which will probably be moonlighting as a nightclub. Follow these rules and you'll have a 99.99% chance of not getting fleeced in Colombia.

Colombian beer doesn't come with scopolamine in it, so how did it get there? You are not sure, you say. Did you give your good vibe friend the money to buy it and he came back with two OPEN bottles of beer? I am glad you are ok, just be more careful.
don't eat or drink from straingers, stay away from sketch areas, beware of the friendly fiend, stay where eyes can see you(no dark hallway wasy or corners), if possible move in a group possablly with people you trust and most important thing of all. DONT. GO. TO. COLOMBIA.

@BigJoe1 Well I am glad you are safe and alive. How much attention were you drawing to yourself with the camera equipment, etc? Sometimes when they see a shiny camera, phone, or a big wad of cash it draws in the crooks, I like to keep all of that out of sight while in public. And maybe I am also anti social, but I don't converse with the locals any more than a few sentences of pleasantries, unless they have somehow been vetted.

And I ended up in a not soo safe neighborhood in Vera Cruz lol. And to be honest no one bothered. E and people actually helped me with using there wifi signal. Ofcourse I never ever let my guard down but being someone raised in projects in pa and living in the worst parts of orlando imbued to keeping aware of my surroundings. But the people had been good to me and I made a couple of friends there that took care of me. They tend to like puerto Ricans possibly because of the reggaeton influence 😆

Ne razumem edino, zakaj si imel vse pri sebi, saj si ja izkušen popotnik. Jaz sem zvečer v Kolumbiji okrog hodil samo s telefonom, z mal drobiža za pijačo ali dve in kopijo dokumentov.
