Note that Emilia Fox also played Morgause in Merlin! She was on for more than half of the seasons and played a significant part in Morganna's character development!
You could probably add a few more acting families. I thought you would have included the Mill’s. But with so much acting talent in Britain, you’d need much more time. Loving your series, always fun and interesting.
Sir John Mills and his wife, Mary, were both actors. Their 2 daughters were Juliet and Hayley, and their son, Jonathan, were all actors. Juliet is now married to actor Maxwell Caulfield and her daughter, Melissa, from her 2nd marriage, is also an actor. Hayley was married to British actor Leigh Lawson and is now married to American-Indian actor Firdous Bamji. One of her sons, Crispian Mills, is lead singer of Kula Shaker. Quite a dynasty!
Joe McGann is easily my favourite. I watched him in the sitcom *The Upper Hand,* the soap *Night and Day,* and the sketch show *Harry Enfield and Chums* among other shows where he made cameos like in *My Family,* *All Creatures Great and Small,* *Heartbeat,* *Merseybeat,* *Casualty,* etc as well as the film *Liverpool Nativity.* I didn't even know he had any brothers until last year when I was looking for old British comedies from the 1990's that I'd forgotten about.
Yayness! Another one! Love it. With how small, and I say that respectively, Britain is, It's no wonder how diverse and brilliant these families are. Whereas here in the States we have so many actors that our acting families aren't as diverse, In fact the only three that come to mind for me are the Fondas, the Baldwins, and the Sheens (having to remember that Emilio Estaves is in fact a Sheen)
+krezzybot My uncle was the former accountant of McGann Clones™ in 1968. Supposedly after it was found out how many UN human rights laws were being broken the company was liquidated and the subjects all given an arbitrary Christian name.
There's the Mills, the Troughtons and the Kemps (ex Spandau Ballet). Julie Dench has a daugther Finty by her late husband, Michael Dench, all three, actors .
My favorite acting family is our future family, Siobhan. Sorry to spring a proposal on you like this, but it was the only way to really make it a surprise.
There's also the Troughtons. Patrick Troughton (first TV Robin Hood and the 2nd Doctor in Doctor Who, was also in The Omen among other things), his sons David and Michael Troughton (who have both also appeared in Doctor Who - three times in David's case) and his grandsons Sam Troughton (Much in Robin Hood) and Michael Melling (best known as Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films)
Suddenly the Redgrave thing makes sense! Whenever I see a Redgrave on TV I swear I've seen them in something before, but imdb gives me nothing. I never realised they're all related and look alike!
Wow, recognized the McGanns but probably all this time I thought I was watching the same guy in all the different parts. They do look an awful lot alike. Wonder if Casting people get confused?? probably not.
Thank you, Wonder what you would have to look for specifically in order to decide on one versus another. I imagine some would decide one was a better actor, but sheesh that would be hard to take if you were not the chosen one.
It was during filming of the Sharpe series that Paul broke his leg and they ended up recasting the lead with Sean Bean From interviews I've heard, I don't think there was any confusion on the part of the people casting the Doctor Who movie, but Paul often makes that joke When I was looking up clips of Peter Capaldi right after he was announced as Twelve, one of the clips that came up was some TV movie about the Beatles...when they showed Lennon, I called out "That's a McGann! Not sure which one, but it's a McGann!…" (btw, it's Mark)
You forgot the Thompsons. Eric Thompson who should be canonized for the Magic Roundabout (yes, the stop-motion is French but it's only funny because Eric messed about with it); his wife Phyllida Law, one of the great actors of her generation; the unfeasibly talented Sophie and the luminescent Emma.
What about the Mills family? About stage names, this down to Equity not allowing two actors to have the same name so they make up a name or insert middle names or initials.
5:00 I was panicking when The Redgraves have not been mentioned. Luckily you've stepped in and declare them as # 1 DYNASTY just seconds before I am almost going to have a heart attack.
You could have done the allens, actor and musician Keith Allen (who payed the sheriff of Nottingham in that bbc Robin Hood series) is father to the pop star lily Allen and actor Alfie Allen who is known for playing theon greyjoy in game of thrones
Believe it or not Lily Allen is actually a third generation performer. Keith(and Kev)’s parents were part of an esteemed traveling circus or something like that.
I have to be honest.. even if I don't care at all about the subject I cant stop watching her talk ..lol umm I meant that in a nice not weird way 0_o I believe its best said as captivating. (I am having no audio issues whatsoever it sounds fine)
Also part of the Smith-Stephens is Patricia Quinn aka Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. she was his second wife after Maggie! And Vanessa Redgrave went out with Timothy Dalton (aka James Bond) for nine years :)
+yarnycakes Sir Lawrence Olivia, Sir Michael Redgrave and Sir Ralph Richardson all joined the Royal Navy in World II (before they had their knighthoods). The Redgrave and the Richardson families are connected.
Also, the actors union, Equity, doesn't allow two actors to have the same name. 'Chris Stephens' may already have been taken. This same rule is the reason why a certain David McDonald had to change his name to David Tennant. And the rest is history.
A lot of the actors mentioned in this video are very diverse in terms of what they have done, not just stuff on stage. If you haven't heard of any of these names, then you, sir, are not paying attention to the extreme talent going on on this planet.
This foreigner was delighted to recognize so many actors she'd seen on television, in BBC series on PBS and in movies, so maybe you should broaden your horizons.
Seriously need to work on the sibilance, it makes otherwise very enjoyable videos nearly impossible to watch. Just move the mic, if that doesn't work visit your dentist.
More great stuff, Siobhan. Keep it up...!
Looking forward to the future Tennant/McDonald-Davison/Moffett dynasty. Blimey that's confusing.
I love to see the physical similarities in all the families. Power of genes! Amazing.
I like it that you're now counting Benedict Cumberbatch references. :)

Hold up a second... Richard Ayoade... is Billie Piper's brother in law? I..... I can't...
Yayness! Another one! Love it. With how small, and I say that respectively, Britain is, It's no wonder how diverse and brilliant these families are. +Galen Alexander Deeds *Mr Sheen shines umpteen things clean*
Are... are you sure those pictures of the McGann brothers aren't just four pictures of Paul McGann? They all look the same!
+krezzybot My uncle was the former accountant of McGann Clones™ in 1968. Supposedly after it was found out how many UN human rights laws were being broken the company was liquidated and the subjects all given an arbitrary Christian name.

so many connections to some of my favorite actors and shows...I had no idea the network was so extensive.
I thought the one who played Dudley was named Harry.
+Holly Shue Yes you're right Harry Melling! He was Patrick Troughton's daughter's child.
Holly Shue Yes, I've no idea why I wrote Michael there.
I _have_ watched all other ones. And I want more. More Anglopheniaaa!
It hit me in the feels when I realized that Liam Neeson played a widower in Love Actually (2003) and met the same destiny in 2009 :(
Suddenly the Redgrave thing makes sense! Whenever I see a Redgrave on TV I swear I've seen them in something before, but imdb gives me nothing. I never realised they're all related and look alike!
aww natasha richardson britains sweetheart in the 90's she was beautiful
Another British family of actors is Prunella Scales and Timothy West, and their son Samuel West. All well known faces on British tv.

I don't cry when a potato dies, I celebrate the birth of chips!
+The Great Steve The famous crime drama centered around the California highway patrol has it's roots in a vegetable?
Same
For me, Maggie Smith will always be an elderly Wendy Darling in "Hook" along side Robin Williams.
What about Ralph Fiennes, Joseph Fiennes and Martha Fiennes?
And Geraldine Chaplin, don't forget her!
Rebellion in normal families; club bouncer, failed musician, drug dealer
Rebellion in acting families; CIRCUS PERFORMER
You forgot the Thompsons. Eric Thompson who should be canonized for the Magic Roundabout (yes, the stop-motion is French but it's only funny because Eric messed about with it); his wife Phyllida Law, one of the great actors of her generation; the unfeasibly talented Sophie and the luminescent Emma.
That was awesome!
wow, i had no idea Dame Maggie Smith was Toby Stephens' mother but now i can totally see it in his face in the mouth /chin area
SO interesting. Had no idea about 3/5 of these fams. Love this series. What can we do to help share it?
I wish I could LIKE a hundred time! Ireally like your videos ! :P
Why is the audio in these videos so bad? - Just a small criticism on otherwise great videos.
No idea but it annoys the hell out of me. Sounds like she's talking through a pair of tights!
I think its meant to be like that !innit!
Whatever are you talking about? Nothing wrong with the sound. It's your ears mate.
Blues fan No, there is slightly too much gain. It’s been bugging me the entire video. Glad someone else noticed it.
That was very interesting!!
I like the snow in on slops itsafe going in all Divine directions.
Um you missed the Fiennes!!!!!
What about the Mills family? About stage names, this down to Equity not allowing two actors to have the same name so they make up a name or insert middle names or initials.
What about Hayley Mills family ?
5:00 I was panicking when The Redgraves have not been mentioned. Luckily you've stepped in and declare them as # 1 DYNASTY just seconds before I am almost going to have a heart attack.
Freddie Fox was King Louis in the 3 Musketeers also. That is where I know him from.
When I read the title the Redgrave family was my first thought. I was pretty stoked they were number 1 on the list! . . . I need a life, lol
The Southern accent makes me want to cry.
10% Talent, 90% Connections
You could have done the allens, actor and musician Keith Allen (who payed the sheriff of Nottingham in that bbc Robin Hood series) is father to the pop star lily Allen and actor Alfie Allen who is known for playing theon greyjoy in game of thrones
+Mandie Colley Maybe if she was doing the top 250 dynasties and needed someone for the 243rd spot.
Gaaa! The Mills family, especially John and his daughter Hayley.
And Juliet
I wouldn't mind seeing the Baldwin's and the Mcgann's in a film together.
Is it just me or does the sound seem weird on this video?
I was named after Vanessa Regrave. He consider her the classiest actress and wanted his daughter to have a classy name.
Oh! and The Smurfs
Whoa.
What about the Pertwee Acting Dynasty
I just realised now that Moss and Rose Tyler are in-laws. I want to know what family dinners are like! :D
You forgot the Mills Family....Sir John and his daughters Haley and Juliet
Informative. Love the Foxes but cannot abide some of the Redgrave's politics (Vanessa).
and the bonham- carters?
No mention of perhaps the greatest acting family of all time - the Wombles!
No competition!!! The Redgraves definitely are it!!!
How could you not mention Geraldine Chaplin? How many other actresses get the opportunity to play their own grandmother in a biopic about her father?
Also part of the Smith-Stephens is Patricia Quinn aka Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. she was his second wife after Maggie! And Vanessa Redgrave went out with Timothy Dalton (aka James Bond) for nine years :)
What about John Mills and his daughters?
What about the Attenborough brothers?
What about them? David Attenborough's not an actor.
Favorite British TV Shows MUST include Steptoe & Son ("You bleedin' git !")
There's just one Irons (Jeremy) and he has one son (Max) who acts. Max Irons also models.
Small island!
9th biggest island on planet earth, actually.
I meant that in the same sense as when people say, "small world".
C. E. Eleric Earth is actually quite a large terrestrial planet
FOXES ALL THE WAY (particularly Laurence - check out his music too!)!!!
Yeah I'll just stick with our America's legendery acting family the Berrymores.
How about the Richardsons?
If you mean Joely and Natasha, they're part of the Redgrave family
+yarnycakes Sir Lawrence Olivia, Sir Michael Redgrave and Sir Ralph Richardson all joined the Royal Navy in World II (before they had their knighthoods). The Redgrave and the Richardson families are connected.
where are Fiennes?
wasn't Kate Winslet also born into a family of actors, or Emma Thompson?
+INdiverCT Don't know about Kate, but Emma and her sister Sophie certainly were. They're daughters of Phyllida Law.
jeese Benedict Cumberbatch looks a lot like his parents!
what about tom hiddlestons family
Paul McGann
Joe McGann > Paul McGann
What about the Fiennes?
yea what about the Fiennes?
not the Baldwins, Please?
Not gonna lie we're gonna have to concede to the Americans when it comes to acting families
You are so cute and smart! {。^◕‿◕^。}
RICHARD HARRIS!😭
You're sounding American in no time. You're getting their twang
COLIN FIRTH!
In America the Fondas have a lot of clout.
Is she British or American? She sometimes sounds American even when speaking with a British accent.
She's a Brit, but lives in New York currently.
You forgot the osbournes.. Lol
you
What about Geraldine Chaplin?????
Why Chris Larkin and not Chris Stephens? I know "Chris Larkin" is just a stage name but why stay away from a prestigious surname?
+Buenomars To get jobs on your own instead of jobs because of your name. Same reason Nick Cage changed his name from Nick Coppola.
Also, the actors union, Equity, doesn't allow two actors to have the same name. 'Chris Stephens' may already have been taken. This same rule is the reason why a certain David McDonald had to change his name to David Tennant. And the rest is history.
This one's a bit too local for my likings, maybe rather focus on typically British stuff foreigners would have heard of? That's just my suggestion.
Also this channel is not just for foreigners, I'm British and I love it. I really enjoyed this episode :)
I'm an American and happen to be quite familiar with these acting families. I mean...who isn't?
Strangeryann But isn't giving you information that you didn't know about the UK kind of the point of these videos?
You forgot to mention Geraldine Chaplin.
MALP
Oh no! Everything is just about friends and blood bonds... :-/
My favourite acting family are..... der der de der de dada der de THE SIMPSONS
not British!!
The Simpsons are the epitome of American
Game of thrones though
Hello... #spoilers!!!
Seriously need to work on the sibilance, it makes otherwise very enjoyable videos nearly impossible to watch. Just move the mic, if that doesn't work visit your dentist.
I really do not understand how anyone finds Benedict Cumberbatch attractive. He looks like Voldemort.
lillyvonlush I t thought I was the only one, I just don't understand the attractiveness.
+pixiedreamer13 Charisma.
+Rob Fraser I don't think he has much of that either....
Such nepotism in the acting world
What about the Fiennes?
