Lmao I just recently started binging your videos today and the whole time I was like "give me the deets on these lights!" And my prayers were answered later in the day! Thank you to the plant goddesses who heard my prayers lol
I'm so happy to see someone growing plants with north-facing windows too! This gives me hope that I can live with many plants in my north-facing flat. Your video is so inspiring to create DIY grow light solutions! As soon as I watched this video I immediately turned my unused coat rack into a grow light hanger (why didn’t I think about it?!). Thank you for the inspiration 🌿
This guide was exactly what I needed! I've been struggling the past days reading very contradicting information about plant lamps and the setup you have seems really legit, chill and cool!! Thanks Benji ❣️
I've been binge watching all your videos and wow 4 month ago you had 6k subscribers and now you have 52k !! You've probably heard this a million times by now, but your calm presence is really infectious, I love your videos! And thanks for all your tips because as someone living in an apartment that gets no light, they're soooo useful!
When you began the video saying that you were not gonna speak on what you don’t know, and admitted you don’t know in depth behind the science of it.. you got my attention! Nothing as refreshing as someone who’s honest! Makes me believe on everything you say you do know!
I love the "now i have 6000 subscribers, which is super crazy".... Lol, sitting at 80k only a few months later. The results of doing what you love! This has become one of my favourite channels on YT.
If you want to hang plants from a pole look up: prusik knot. It used in climbing, it will allow you to hang anything as long as the surface is not too smooth of either the rope or the pole. The heacier what you're hanging the more secure the knot!
I grow some houseplants but I’m expanding my edible garden indoors. I have a variety of grow light but the challenge has been hanging some of the bar lights. Your pipe solution is perfect and I already have most of the materials to construct it. I use the same configuration outside to hang shade cloth over parts of my garden. I never thought about bringing it indoors for my indoor garden. Thanks!
Im collecting succulents for over a year now, but Im planning to start collecting house plants. It's crazy coz I never really had any houseplant before I came across your channel, but I got inspired to start collecting them coz of u. And yeah, Im putting them in my room too. 😅 Take care benji.
I like growing plants, not just because the sake of it, but because it makes people creative. We always have to find solutions to make inviroment work for them.
You deserve the subscribers, you're videos are well done and your personality seems so genuine, I subscribed off the first video I watched! Congrats on 6 k+
Finally found someone that's shared the make and models of grow lights that actually work! Thanks so much mate. Also, just a tip that you may or may not want to use, when hanging your lights from the ceiling, use fishing line. It's super strong and almost invisible so looks much better than twine in my opinion! Also, you can get industrial strength adhesive tape rolls which you cut to whatever size you need and you can use those on which ever hanging hooks you have! Look forward to seeing more vids!!! 🤘
I like how you're so honest and upfront about how all the PAR and PPFD is too complicated... i mean honestly, it is too complicated for most everyone, i know it is for me! My room window also faces north with a shaded corrider in front of it... plus there's another block of apartments opposite my windows AND i live on a lower floor, so i get really low light... great to know that it's possible to have happy plants in a north facing room. Please make the video on how you grew sphagnum moss from dried moss, and also how you grew your string of hearts together! I saw string of hearts recently but i've so far seen conflicting info about their soil requirements (some say dry, some say moist, i don't know lol), but it'd really like to be able to grow them. Since you're growing them with moss, it seems they prefer a moist condition? Hmm.
I have had problems this last winter at my new home. Especially on winter-y, rainy days we have no natural light whatsoever (I reckon that my walls painted in dark grey don’t help, haha). Now it’s spring and the plant room gets quite nice natural light for like 12-14 hours, but I’ve been looking for ideas on grow lights when winter comes. Yours was extremely detailed (and nice prices!), and your voice is so soothing! Thanks.
I’m glad I found this video. I have seen a couple of others on grow lights but they were more technical and not really helpful in making a decision on what I should buy. I have grown plants for several years but over the past few years have really not had the time. Now that things have slowed down a bit I have the time and opportunity to go back to growing. Last summer I began working with several succulents and some other plants that did very well in pots out on the patio. Now that winter is about here I had to bring them inside and I just do not have enough light to keep them well. I want a more white light. I tried the lights that have three different colors of light but my succulents are not doing well with them. They are stretching after only about three weeks under that type of light. 😱 Since I love my plants for their beauty I would prefer not to have lights that are too obtrusive. Maybe grow lights in some floor lamps and desk lamps that will hold the correct type of grow bulb. Anyway thank you for the information. Any other suggestions for grow lights would be great.
I really enjoy all your videos. You are a triple threat as your videos are about 1) Plants, 2) they are very informative and imaginative, and 3) they are quite relaxing, to boot. I love that your Dad supports your love of plants and comes up with ingenious ways to help you. Take care of yourself and give lots of planty love during these trying times. I'm off to watch another much appreciated video!
This is so relatable, I also have a single north-facing window in my bedroom, not only that but there's a garage outside the window that blocks half of it and the whole property is shaded by trees. Needless to say I have a lot of grow lights and have had to get pretty creative. This video gave me so many ideas, definitely gonna get some of those monios lights, I've been looking around for some good strip ones. Right now I use like a dozen sansi grow lights and I love them, really effective and they have that warm white color that I prefer. I'm also just starting to get into aquariums, so your whole room is a inspiration for me 😆
This was really helpful👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve. been hesitant about ordering grow lights because I didn’t know the quality , and I wasn’t sure about their installation . But you covered all that , so thanks . I’m glad the philos. are doing well because I don’t have good natural light either and I wanted to have some of these for my interior .
Thx for sharing. My place is on the ground level facing northeast with no natural light coming in even during day time so not just lights themselves but how to install them were also rly helpful
Thank you for this video. I don't want all the tech. stuff just want to know what works so great job. I would love to see a video on the moss..so pretty
Your videos are so aesthetically pleasing and inspiring! The great setup, the happy plants, the charming smart host, the music... Top quality! 👏 By the way, your P. gloriosum looks a bit overwhelmed with the light he's getting. I'd bet that's why he's bowing that way. Nothing too bad, I guess that's actually helpful in order to enjoy it placed at eye level. ✨
This is a great and helpful video! Thank you! I was wondering about the square panel lights. My monstera adansonii top leaves on the moss pole were burning. I had a light about 3 feet above it. It is a clip light with 4 wands and one directed to it. So I rotated the lights towards the ceiling to bounce off the ceiling to create the indirect light plants seems to like. I think IT’s working. I have new leaves forming and they are no longer burning. Lights are a while thing in itself to figure out.
The leaf burn from these lights are usually because of the 'heat' because the leaf is too close to the light and the physical leaf is hot. Circulating air will move the heat and help from burning.
GREAT INFO! I saw your previous videos and the whole time I was thinking “ what kind of grow lights does he use?” Your plants are happy. Love your channel.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with grow lights, and how you set them up. You’re such a smart and talented young man . I learned a lot from you 😍🙏
You are such a cutie pie and I love your plants and set up XD I usually see really jank looking plant lights and it makes me wanna steer away but I hate that all my windows are overcrowded. This is inspirational 👏
I loved this video so much. I got some great ideas and recommendations, so thank you for that. But your overall presentation was so soothing and relaxing, and don’t we all need more of that these days? Keep up the great videos!!! ❤️
Hydro Farm Radiant 8 is the way to go. By all parameters it is the closest thing to sunlight light . Either vented or unvented models are available. LED lighting has very limited light spectrum, and plants are very sensitive to color of light and a very little interference can be critical , while HPS lighting provides full spectrum and 2 x 2 ft light reflectors of Radiant 8 cover area of 4 by 4 ft ( or even more) of growth area. You can chose 4 position ballast or even dimmable ballast that is perfect for growing seriously.
I’m definitely going to have to try some of these! I have a good number of relatively bright windows but I also have two rather misbehaved Siberian huskies so most of my plants live in a room which isn’t naturally very bright since I don’t want them somewhere my dogs could knock them over and/or eat them.
Can we get a vlog of you answering questions about you and your plants? kinda wanna know more about you teehee. I love your vids on tiktok and here btw!
Love that you love plants. Love your chill vibes. Thanks for the helpful tips. My only critique is linking all to Amazon. My personal preference is to not support that company, instead buy direct to consumer. Appreciate your content regardless. 🙏 ❤ 🙏
tbh i’m an anthurium noob lol. i’m much more experienced in philodendron and monstera. I got my first anthurium maybe 3 months ago? I’d recommend checking out theplantsmeow here on youtube for info on anthuriums
This was great. Thanks for sharing, it's so nice to see someone growing such beautiful plants with artificial light. I've only got one room to grow in at the moment because of plant toxicity to my pets and I'm working so hard to keep the light (and temp and humidity, but that's besides the point) just right. Thanks for sharing your lights and how they work for you. I've been looking at a few of the ones you shared, but haven't seen anyone I follow use them. I'll definitely be getting a couple now and I'll use your links because it's been a heck of a time trying to find someone with longterm use of them sharing their experience. Thanks again.
“I talk about plants and... yeah, I talk about plants.”
YES THATS WHAT IM HERE FOR 💃🏻 🪴
Lol 😂
I hope the yt algorithm keeps sharing yah because, your chill vibes are so soothinggg😌💕

I really needed this video! I have been looking for someone that has little to no natural light and only relies on growlights.
the vibes are immaculate as always my luv benji 🥰
When he said he was happy about 6,000 subscribers and now he's at 48k. That warrants a follow.

Thx 4u vdo. We have to keep light on all day or turn of at night time and on in morning.
Glad this was recommended to me. Chill vibe and I have the same issue. Small North-facing semi-basement windows 🥺.

I can't wait for the vlog for growing sphagnum moss.
Wow! so many grow lights. I see you love plants.
Great tips and observations, this video helped me immensely. Trying to mount/ hang my GE light from ceiling now 😎👍

@Benjiplant try Sansi LED bulbs, they're a touch warmer/full spectrum and do quite well
For heavier-duty adhesive, I use nano tape. That holds the grow lights well.
We love a creative king 😌
