Probably the most helpful video on plant lighting I've seen. Everyone else out there is testing all these crazy LED combinations. Devin makes it easy and covers a lot of ground all at once. Thanks!
Wow! I love your plant collection. My neighbors think I live in a plant store. I could honestly live in a jungle. I love having indoor plants and have over a hundred. My husband told me I need to cut back a little because I'm encroaching on his space. NOT going to happen. Anyway, your video provided many great tips. Thanks a million for this information.
Clicked on the video to see Freddie from Scooby-Doo talk about grow lights. Stayed for the information! 😁 No matter how much I think I know, it's always great to relearn what you have learned, and there were a few things I had wrong. Thank You For Your Video Sir!
Fantastic video! This was very informative and helpful. I think you can take the metal covers from those clamp lights you don’t like and spray paint them. Then you can put them back on and have focused light but lose the industrial look and energy you didn’t like. Thank you for all these tips. Going to help my journey a lot
Thank you for this information! I converted over to Soltech light systems throughout my house and have had a lot of success with them. They sell standalone hanging lights as well as ceiling mount track systems. Pricey but high quality and excellent lights.
Great video . One way I hid the grow light poles (vertical) and the lamps were to buy some Pothos plants and let them vine around. Made a big difference with cables as well . Great thing is if they get too big you can cut them .
im a grower too and love indoor is what i luv i use optic led grow lights they are some of the best great channel here hope i can get to your level one day cheers family
Devin, perfect timing. I've been looking at grow lights but really had no idea what to be looking for except to assume that the full spectrum was probably the best choice. Your interior design tips and tricks to upscale the look of grow lights was excellent too! I'm quite excited about my latest acquisition, which is a Moondrop, a dwarf version of the shefflera. The small, white variegation against the dark green leaves with the occasional white leaf is a striking contrast. It grows to about 3', which is perfect for my apartment living. Can't thank you enough for your videos. You make them very interesting and concise with no rambling. Perfect. 😊 BTW, the item you held up and didn't know the name of is called a lampshade. 😂
Some of the t5 and t8 bars can be stuck on using double sided adhesive pads that the product comes with. Heavy duty 2x sided mounting tape can be also be used on the plastic parts. Really useful if you cannot or should not drill on the piece of furniture you’re your using. I’ve also heard of people attaching Velcro strips
I was JUST getting overwhelmed trying to figure out which grow lights i should get for my indoor plants. Thank you for your friendly information at the prefect time. I do have a question though, what's the minimum hours to use grow lights a day to be able to still achieve new growth?
Amazing! I was looking for grow light options, and clicked your video, by far the best and clearest on point very explanatory video! Love it thanks! I’m looking for indoor grow light for my pink princess, a few succulents and a variegated Monstera adansonii which hasn’t put any white since I purchased it 😒.
@@plantvibrations for me the title “Indoor light” was the catch. As soon as I started watching your video you just drew me in! Your apartment and plant set up is relaxing to watch! I love the Ambient 🥰💯. Which lighting do you recommend to help promote more white leaf on my Variegated andasonii monstera and also good for my Pink princess plant as well?
Thank you for this video! I just got a monstera and was wondering if it would be okay under a grow light in an IKEA floor lamp I wanted to put it by. Lo-and-behold, you show a monstera under exactly the same lamp I was planning to put it under! Answered all my questions haha. Used your affiliate link for the smart bulb, I'm excited!
I grow a lot of different plants and trees indoors. I’ve found no difference in growth potential with LEDs whether they’re $15 or $300. Compared wattage 100 to 300.
Once again you certainly don't disappoint. Very comprehensive and informative video. However, what no Ikea cabinet? Seems that is a prerequisite for all those folks doing plant videos. PS I don't have one either.
Great video. And sorry but I'm going to be that guy... You burn more readily at elevation because there is less atmosphere to absorb UV, not because you are closer to the sun. Keep up the good work!
@@plantvibrations The first reason is gravity. Earth's gravity pulls air as close to the surface as possible. The second reason is density. As altitude increases, the amount of gas molecules in the air decreases-the air becomes less dense than air nearer to sea level. I live in Colorado at about a mile of elevation above sea level. Here, our solar panels produce nearly 20% more energy than a similar solar panel at sea level!
Very helpful video ! I live in southern Ontario so heading into our cold short dark months 😔 Would an LED full spectrum grow light be most helpful to my plants on a schedule of something like 830am - 830pm? I also have south facing windows but have the electric baseboard heaters along the window so I move my plants back from that direct dry heat.
Choosing a style light is pretty hard. There are too many options. I'm looking for something to be used on the top of my bookshelf. Its pretty dark up there but I'd love to have a row of plants. I'm not sure what to do. Maybe mount a strip light to the ceiling or the back wall behind the plants? Or get clip ons for each individual plant? Then there's the issue of needing a long cord since its all the way on the top shelf 😂 itm overwhelmed.
Pretty thorough. I have a few questions though. I'm mainly focused more on vegetables. One of the grow lights I bought was a hanging red/blue light. I was thinking 12 hours of the red, with 2 hours at the beginning being with blue. What are your thoughts on using the red/blue led for vegetables?
The tan you get from sitting outside is from the UV light, why that doesnt happen in doors is because the UV is filtered out by your glass. Its not because of the light intensity.
@@plantvibrations I meant, the long bar lights that you featured in your video can be mounted using command strips directly to the underside of your shelves. I use two 20 pound rated Velcro command strips on each end of the light bar. It makes for easy replacement and allows more space between shelves.
Hey I live in a basement apartment w no windows. I have Anthurium Clarinervium, trandescantia nanouk, peace lily, zz, monstera adasonni, and philodendron white knight. What would my most efficient light setup be for these. Right now I got two ge lights and some Amazon clip on ones but I have no idea if it’s too much or too little. They are all on one table.
I have to hang all my plants from the ceiling because of my pets. Any lighting suggestion for that? Would like to find DECENT looking ceiling grow lights. P.S. I have 10 hanging plants and one room where they need to be all winter. Low light. Thanks for any suggestions!
Ohhh hmm that’s a good challenge. Well I forsure would recommend the smart bulbs I show in the video for their ability to change tones from cool to hot. Regarding an actual apparatus, I’ll have to think on that
LED do in fact get hot but are almost always built into a heat dissipation system to compensate for that. hell my LED grow light literally has heat sinks and 2 good sized fans and you can feel the hot air coming out of the air out vents. LED actually generate a lot of heat depending on how much light they are pushing out. my little flashlight that its 1,200 lumens will melt its lens and give 2nd degree burns if left on max turbo for too long hence why it has built in feature to force it down to lower settings after a set time.
led's will not burn foliage, nor will normally powered fluorescents unless left in contact with foliage for days and fluorescents should be closer than 3 inches.. btw the word "grow" when added to "lights" generally increases price more than efficiency.
You shouldn’t need one to prevent mold bc indoor plants shouldn’t stay moist enough to encourage mold. But fans are great for circulation which plants appreciate
I need some serious help. I was just gifted a monstera and I need a floor lamp set up like how you have, and I am having trouble. I know I want a floor lamp and a warmer toned grow light LED. Can someone tell me what to look for? It's kinda confusing! 😅
