You mentioning the pokemon named after your dad broke my heart. My first ever Shiny was a Drifloon that my brother caught for me in Soul Silver. I thought I lost that cartridge and I was so worried about it. I named it "Tom's Shiny" after him. Several years after he passed away, I was cleaning up an box in the basement and found my old system, with Soul Silver still in it. And there it was...Tom's Shiny. It's followed me ever since.
Drifloon takes children to the afterlife, but I assure you that Tom's Shiny will bless you with happiness only to be lapsed by bittersweet but knowing memories of your brother.
Oh yeah! Recently, I just finished the Pokedex for Violet, and when I found the secret Miraidon, I suddenly had a thought and named it Munda after my Grandma who recently passed from old age. Wouldn’t be surprised if the reason the Miltank is in a masterball is because of Colosseum’s master ball glitch, where because of the double battle format you could essentially use an unlimited number of master balls.
It's funny enough not that useful for Colosseum specifically due to how late you get the Masterball, unless you were failing all the pokemon captures before then. Again, since there's no wild pokemon either unlike XD's at least small pool of them.

Pokeboomer is a thing now 0_o? I guess that makes me one too, seeing as I still have all my OT game files from as far back and Red, Blue and Yellow in 1998...which has an event Mew on Yellow that I can't get off it.

Since Pokémon Box has a storage limit of 1500, I decided to check how many times you could store the entire Gen 3 Pokédex (386) within it. The answer is about 3.88 times, with a remainder of 44 Pokémon that you could store back in the GBA cartridge. Pretty impressive for 2004.
This is heartwarming. The pokemon series is unique in that your partner monsters can be kept forever. As a father, I assure you the Daddo would be touched his kid named a pokemon for him. Love is in these small moments and gestures. Thanks for sharing your history.
This has got to be the single coolest video I've ever watched on ur channel! As a lifelong pokefan who's unfortunately lost all my old games and cartridges, I can only imagine how extremely satisfying and nostalgic it must've felt to rediscover lost pieces of ur childhood. Also that part about ur dad... made me a bit emotional...
Whenever the name “Daddo” was flashed on my screen with sad music playing, I immediately knew the whole story. I also lost my father at a young age, so seeing this immediately brought me to tears. I hope you can keep Daddo with you forever Mikey
Anyone else tearing up at 'Daddo'? Because I know I am! (I lost my dad when I really young too so I know you're pain Mikey). I do love that you transferred the Unown to Home. So sweet!
That Magenton Polzo is likely actually from Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness as it has a ribbon, is obtainable in that game, and, most telling, knows the move refresh which is a common move given to pokémon when they are purified. The OT being Michael in all caps is likely because that's the main characters Canon name and would've been all caps by default. Edit: Commented this in the middle before you revealed it at the end 😅
Daddo the Unown truly shattered my heart. I lost my sister Debbie in 2021 and there are so many comparable moments I’ve had - that, and she was my favourite gaming partner to boot. A random example is that she used to play Monster Prom with me and read it out in silly voices and my partner and I have done the same recently because it makes me so happy. Thank you so much for sharing that moment with us, buddy - I know what a bittersweet feeling it is. 💖💖💖
I managed to hold on to the Blaziken from my first ever playthrough, so I still have my real-life starter Pokémon. She's always the first thing I pull out of Home when I need a high-level team.
Watching this while tired and high. And so far I’m finding this video to be super interesting. Mainly because it feels like Michael is being a Pokémon researcher or Sherlock homes using deductive reasoning to find out minute details about a Pokémon. It’s wild that he can know so much just from the OT name, game name, and ID of the trainer.
This is one of your best videos yet! I loved the suspense and mystery feeling as you went for each box and discovered an unusual or weird pokémon. Really great! Will be rewatching this for quite some time.
Not gonna lie, you talking about naming your Pokemon after your dad made me tear up. I lost my dad just shy of 9 years ago and my son, who's now 19, still names his Snorlax "Pop-Pop" or "Meathead" (a nickname they had for each other) to this day.
Don't some shadow Pokemon come back in Coliseum later if you knock them out instead of capturing them on your first try? Maybe that happened with Suicune, so that's why Baby Mickey named it Hydro2.
The oldest known Pokemon I still have is my Infernape named Chimmy from my first Pearl save file. At first, I thought I had lost him forever when I checked Pearl and found a brand new file with new Pokemon. But, somehow, Chimmy ended up in one of my Black and White games; so now he is resting comfortably in Shining Pearl, right where he belongs.
What a wild video. I had the exact same experience when I dug up some of my oldest games recently. It’s surreal to look back though them and rediscover bits of your younger self. I’m so glad you managed to recover some of these extra special Pokemon. I’m sure you’ll treasure them for many years to come, especially Daddo ❤
honestly dispite the Mew being hacked, it's a relic of a by-gone age of game hacks. it has a history, and you should preserve as many of these pokemon as possible (especially the sentimental ones)
14:10 Correction - in Colosseum, Shadow Pokemon have different catch rates than in the main series. Fe.: Nascour's Metagross has a catch rate of 15, and so have all three of Legendary Beasts. The lowest catch rate of all Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum belongs to Evice's Tyranitar, with catch rate of 10.
I love this idea....what a trip down memory lane....My first game was also in the Hoenn region, ALSO with Ruby funnily enough. And I've gotten every game since then. And in all my years of playing, the ONLY time I got a full odds random shiny, was in Pokemon Sword, with GMax Grimmsnarl. I nearly threw my Switch in shock. He's safely in Home where he will stay.
I still have my first ever pokémon, a Sceptile named BLADE. I'm waiting for him to be able to go to Scarlet and Violet but I love that I've kept him on this journey for so long.
I know I'm a year late, but I'm just now getting back into Pokemon and love your videos. The story about naming the unknown Daddo is literally making me cry. Shoutout you Michael.
The fact it took almost two minutes for Mikey to say "Greetings", I thought "Oh this sounds serious..." I am super glad I transferred all the Pokémon in my Alola save files to Home, cause I have incredible memories with them. Got a lot of legends, mythical, ultra beasts, and most definitely hacked shinies, but they've helped me a lot. However, I will say, with a shiny Spearow was the one shiny I failed to catch in Alola, Mikey having his is a bit frustrating, but it's not that great-looking of a shiny anyway, so I'll look past it.
This wound you being much more interesting than I thought. Congratulations on finding some old Pokémon. I bet they were excited to see their old trainer again.
there's actually a fun little glitch with pokéballs in Colosseum: if you use your first turn to throw a ball at a shadow pokémon, and then use the second turn to switch the place of the pokéball you just used, you can infinitely use the ball without running out, and it works with the master ball as well
14:12 Micheal if you use turn 1 to select a Pokeball to throw and turn 2 to swap that Pokeballs position in your bag, it duplicates that Pokeball. It works on ALL Pokeballs, including the Master Ball
9:33 I have a similar thing I do. Main and first playthroughs are named ALI. Second+ and second cartridge playthroughs are named ALASTR or ALASTAIR depending on the character limit. The is just me removing the lowercase version of ALI because I remembered I only used the lowercase version in a spin off game. Those don’t count
It's pretty cool. Reminds me how I found a lot of drawings I thought were lost or completely forgot about recently. It was such a nostalgic trip and reminded me of a lot of ideas that I could reuse today.
It's so cool to discover old Pokemon, I wish I could do that... My first Pokemon game was Moon, and I gifted both the game and the 3ds itself to a friend, I never had Pokemon Bank and I know he wiped the save file to start his own
Growing up, I was very attached to my Pokémon. I desired that they travel throughout the games with me, so as soon as I discovered the transfer feature from Gen 3 games into Diamond and Pearl, I jumped....the pattern continued as more games came out. I'm proud to say that I still have first 2 level 100s from my very first Sapphire Save File. A Blaziken and a Kyogre. They are safe in Pokémon Home.
14:26 Mikey, I’m not sure if you have been told this already, But HYDRO2 is a reference to water. -There are two hydrogen molecules in H2O, aka water -Hydro is often associated with water, like in “Hydro pump” -Suicune is a water type. You always liked science, even as a kid.
Okay but it's so cool you were able to find things like this! I have decent number of pokemon sitting in bank, but I know my originals for a lot of the older games are long gone. Congrats on the find!
I'm honestly a little surprised you don't use the different Mytey forms for your different channels' PFPs. Anyway, it was super cool to see this retro Pokémon!
I can't wait for the Scarlet and Violet DLCs to come out and see Mikey's playthrough. I hope he also does a thoughts on all gen 9 pokemon like he did for gen 8.

This video was so dramatic and so well made. The suspenseful music, paired with the dramatic stuff Mikey was saying made it such a great watch and genuinely gave me chills.
I guess he's finally completed Scarlet and Violet's treasure hunt..
it's so wholesome that you named an unkown "daddo" and then transported that to your switch to keep the memories. may the memories bloom.
Agreed. I teared up at that.
@@Delbel_Giggles91same
I teared up when you talked about your dad because I can’t imagine how depressing it would be for my dad to pass away at that young of an age. I’m sure he is very proud of who you have become
Scarlet and Violet are all about your "Treasure Hunt". Us the viewers just experienced your own Pokémon Treasure Hunt and good sir you were Indiana Jones. Thank you for another great video!
ok
God dam why does this make sense
Gotta love how Mikey’s storytelling has been recently. From Fuse, to Nightsky Mikey, to this! I find myself captivated and it’s hard for me to look away from the video to multitask like i usually do with so many other people! And as an artist, the Mandjtv Plays videos have really been helping my artblock!
(Side note: I could write an entire essay about Nightsky Mikey’s character and why he deserves to be redeemed, I love him so much
Update: I did)

Since Pokémon Box has a storage limit of 1500, I decided to check how many times you could store the entire Gen 3 Pokédex (386) within it. The answer is about 3.88 times, with a remainder of 44 Pokémon that you could store back in the GBA cartridge. Pretty impressive for 2004.
11:08 did not expect this
This is heartwarming. The pokemon series is unique in that your partner monsters can be kept forever. As a father, I assure you the Daddo would be touched his kid named a pokemon for him. Love is in these small moments and gestures. Thanks for sharing your history.
The Daddo story hit my right in the feels. I hope that Pokemon never disappears
23:07 all the other pokemons on the box:
MICHEAL DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!! MICHEAL!!
This video really played well with the mystery vibe. My heart really froze with suspense with each development and revelation
The Daddo find is best. Love it. My dad passed 2 years ago and I cherish everything I find from the past involving him
Whenever the name “Daddo” was flashed on my screen with sad music playing, I immediately knew the whole story. I also lost my father at a young age, so seeing this immediately brought me to tears. I hope you can keep Daddo with you forever Mikey
Never thought I would be emotional over an Unown 🥺
What a cool video, I can’t imagine what it was like going through and finding all these things
@mandjtv I'm so sorry for your loss. I almost teared up because that must have been so special for you to find that Pokémon
Anyone else tearing up at 'Daddo'? Because I know I am! (I lost my dad when I really young too so I know you're pain Mikey). I do love that you transferred the Unown to Home. So sweet!
I was, crying inside. It's sad to loose relatives. Loosing parents, isn't easy. I've lost uncles and at least one grandparent, over the years.
I know both your pains plus I named ghost type Pokémon Jason my dads name
Petition for the Miltank only run Trainer/Starter to be named “Dairang”
Agreed

This is so fun to watch! It's fun deducting where Pokemon came from based on clues like ID, game exclusivity, ribbons, etc. I loved watching this!
This is one of your best videos yet!
I loved the suspense and mystery feeling as you went for each box and discovered an unusual or weird pokémon. Really great!
Will be rewatching this for quite some time.
I respect you for naming unown after your dad. He probably was the best member of team sky
The talk about your dad really had me crying, I'm sure he rests happily knowing he has such an awesome son ❤
Not gonna lie, you talking about naming your Pokemon after your dad made me tear up. I lost my dad just shy of 9 years ago and my son, who's now 19, still names his Snorlax "Pop-Pop" or "Meathead" (a nickname they had for each other) to this day.
18:16 thats the last time we'll ever justin EVER
Don't some shadow Pokemon come back in Coliseum later if you knock them out instead of capturing them on your first try? Maybe that happened with Suicune, so that's why Baby Mickey named it Hydro2.
I was thinking H2O
The oldest known Pokemon I still have is my Infernape named Chimmy from my first Pearl save file. At first, I thought I had lost him forever when I checked Pearl and found a brand new file with new Pokemon. But, somehow, Chimmy ended up in one of my Black and White games; so now he is resting comfortably in Shining Pearl, right where he belongs.
my first pokemon was a mudkip from my sapphire save file,i transferred him to Violet and he’s in my “legend” box.

Micheal when he predicts the past 11:36
11:24 is so sad :( It reminds me of my mom passing away when I was eight, 1 week before my birthday and communion
As a historian AND a nerd I very much enjoy this video! I applaud your research gathering skills!

Correction - in Colosseum, Shadow Pokemon have different catch rates than in the main series. Fe.: Nascour's Metagross has a catch rate of 15, and so have all three of Legendary Beasts.
The lowest catch rate of all Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum belongs to Evice's Tyranitar, with catch rate of 10.
4:25 Captions says "hoe index" 😂
The fact it took almost two minutes for Mikey to say "Greetings", I thought "Oh this sounds serious..."
I am super glad I transferred all the Pokémon in my Alola save files to Home, cause I have incredible memories with them.
Oh, right. That’s a glitch/exploit in Colosseum. I remember someone talking about that now.

I can speak from experience, finding a lost game/data you have been searching for, for so long is one of the greatest experiences you will ever have
It's pretty cool. Reminds me how I found a lot of drawings I thought were lost or completely forgot about recently. It was such a nostalgic trip and reminded me of a lot of ideas that I could reuse today.

My dad passed in 2007 when I was 17 I had no idea we had this in common, just one more reason to love your channel. 🖤
It's so cool to discover old Pokemon, I wish I could do that... My first Pokemon game was Moon, and I gifted both the game and the 3ds itself to a friend, I never had Pokemon Bank and I know he wiped the save file to start his own
...why isn't it possible to hug a man through the internet? I'm so glad you found Daddo again Mikey!
I love when Mikey uploads. It always makes my day that much better
I'm glad he reunited with his old Pokemon after so many years
This whole video reminds me of when I got Battle Revolution again after a decade and found my old save file with my original Pearl run Pokémon on it
Growing up, I was very attached to my Pokémon.
This video was a wild ride it honestly felt like an episode of a detective show, your storytelling skills are honestly amazing, great job mikey
14:26 Mikey, I’m not sure if you have been told this already, But HYDRO2 is a reference to water.
-There are two hydrogen molecules in H2O, aka water
-Hydro is often associated with water, like in “Hydro pump”
-Suicune is a water type.
You always liked science, even as a kid.
I do like how the characters introduced as a face for these side games and utilities have been brought back later with updated designs
One of them even ended up marrying one of the main series character.

Okay but it's so cool you were able to find things like this! I have decent number of pokemon sitting in bank, but I know my originals for a lot of the older games are long gone. Congrats on the find!
That unown D had such a sad but wholesome story to its name
I'm honestly a little surprised you don't use the different Mytey forms for your different channels' PFPs. Anyway, it was super cool to see this retro Pokémon!

It's an older Skydios before Mikey even started Team Sky
We now know that Mikey used a master ball to catch a milktank. He definitely loves it
I can't wait for the Scarlet and Violet DLCs to come out and see Mikey's playthrough. I hope he also does a thoughts on all gen 9 pokemon like he did for gen 8.
