Vasti or vasti karma is one of the purificatory treated or one of the panchakarma treatments of Ayurveda and it is one of the most imprint treatments or one of the best treatments of Ayurveda because most of the conditions can b controlled trough bastikarma. The seat of vata of the large intestine or the colon and here it controls all the neurological activities and this vata controls the kapha ad the pitta too therefore to tackle this vata the vasti karma is found to be very beneficial and then one of the next important reasons why the vasti karma holds that important place in because of its quick actions, whatever results that we have to achieve in a short period of time is achieved through vasti karma. In vasti karma the medicine are administered via the rectum and in some of the vast is the medicine are administered though the urethra and vagina. That is the uttara vasti and this can be given for all conditions and for all people in whatever age it is and it is found that when properly administered that it results in no unpleasant untoward effects at all. There are different varieties of this vasti is based on the mode of administration, that is the site of administration like in uttara vasti the medicines are administered through urethra and the vagina. It is found to be beneficial in some of the gynaecological problems and alaso in some of the in fertility like conditions too vastis are also different kinds based on the medications involved, if it is oil based it is the sneha vasti or the anuvasana vasti and if it is various kashayaam is the drug that is going to be administered then it is going to be the niruha basti. of late we come across lot of queries regarding this panchakarma treatment and in particular the vasti treatment. So what the people correlate the vasti to the enema , it is a bad correlation. Though the poreccdur e looks sismailr, the utility of vasti is multidimensional because here even though the medicine is given through the rectum , the absorption is fast and various neurological problems can be tackled. it can be neurological problems like degenerative problems like Alzheimer’s , parkinsonism, or the multiple sclerosis or fibromyalgia condition can be given for different type of headaches or sinusitis or for some local conditions like the irritable bowel syndromes or ulcerative colitis in such conditions, it always depends on the change in the drug. So depending on the kind of drug that we administer, his neurological problems can be uven a s for purification or to control and to pacify their condition and also given in various conditions to rejuvenate the body too. There is a special vasti called as the lahana vasti which is administered to treat obesity. With this vasti treatment is found to reduce the body weight an also helps to reduce the hypercholestremia also, in short vasti treatment is a proven treatment for gut and for brain disorders.
