      @@M_Oz_ TV golf and PGA teaching pros, as well as a variety of other golf nerds really give a false impression about the game.
      From what I can tell you have to build up enough speed to play from the tips comfortably. From there it's really just keeping the ball in play and learning how to play. Making good shot selections, reading putts well, not panicking when you get in trouble..there's a ton more to it to be a pro obviously but all of this stuff about it being THE HARDEST GAME I think mostly comes from people lost in the maze of swing tips who don't realize they could hit it as far as the pros if they just swung hard and/or don't realize the pros are all over the place.
      Watching Mickleson's full 4th round of the PGA changed my game forever. He was all over the place. And he really didn't even scramble spectacularly.
      But he was pretty deep off the tee so that when he missed fairways he still could hit enough greens and then he got up and down pretty well. It wasn't magic genius oh my goodness how could anyone ever do that stuff.

    My teaching pro is a MASTER at chipping and pitching.....she just about NEVER takes a divot and I am the opposite...but I use my divots as guidance or as a warning of coming in too steep...but it's nice to see Jordan is going even steeper than me and it's okay for him. But one thing is for sure, the ground is clearly wet.....when you come in with not much bounce under the ball (which I think he kind of naturally does) you'll get this kind of result. Hey, he's a 3-time major winner - he must be doing something right.

      @ewaz6196 2 роки тому

      @@boomboombilly342 That's correct, but Jordan's are deeper than most....but again, that's also a bi-product of how soft the ground is. I never much used my divots for chipping to learn because I was always an "okay" chipper to some degree....but I learned a lot from the lady I've taken lessons from because she can gracefully chip and pitch the ball SO WELL by letting the bounce just brush the ground on even odd lies.....yes she will take divots here and there but it's very small......I have come to the understanding I cannot dwell on that difference between us, but I can at least use my divots as "awareness" of if I'm getting too steep.....it's a very fine line.
      I have a chipping green in my backyard (an artificial one) so I've had lots of time to think about this....as you can probably tell. :-)

      I'm gonna take a shot in the dark, LEVEL YOUR SHOULDERS, find the bottom of your swing, and practice brushing the grass. A low right shoulder is very common, and will make it impossible to be consistent. When your right shoulder is low, you'll naturally stick the club in the ground behind the ball, if you try and correct, you'll pull up and thin it. Get comfortable with brushing the grass, and place the ball just behind the low spot of your swing. Stand tall, feet close together, slightly open, choke down close to the steel. Setup is 80 percent.

      @@TheErockaustin I’m sure that feet together works for certain players on certain types of chip shots but it is not the standard method for most players on most chip shots. The only thing that is completely wrong is to have a wide stance with the weight balanced on both legs. Weight on front foot, narrow open stance, brest bone a little in front of the ball and either swing with the wrists locked in or swing the way that Mickelson suggests and hinge the wrists on the back swing and hold them that way through impact and beyond.
