I like how Penuel can have a conversation with someone who have different views on a subject and still be respectful and be able to hold composure and try to shift his paradigm so he can grasp someone perspective but still be object and less subjective about it, that's definition of maturity.

Eish ..😢 I feel sorry for this man trying to explain being born again to Penuel … don’t think he has a full understanding of it ,or maybe he does ,but the way he’s explaining it ,especially to Pen ,Ei , he’s not helping us there as Christians.. I wish I was there to help …but shout out to Pen also for being gracious and kind towards him ..the Pen I know would have torn him apart .maybe it’s because the guy is also a good person ..

Interesting conversation. History tells us that the gospel came to Africa (Ethiopia) before it went to Europe (Italy). The Ethiopian eunuch received the gospel in Acts 8 whilst Cornelius the Italian received it later in Acts 10. I wish you had touched on the difference between salvation and being born again. I also wish you touched on atonement which is the distinguishing feature in Christianity. Great conversation though. You should reconvene for another one

    Greetings of Peace and Blessings.
Religious conversations are always polarizing but it is my understanding that The Creator prefers it that way, such that different views can be debated.
As a muslim, I will not venture to claim to understand christianity, however I will only venture to illuminate the concept of Jesus in Islam.
Firstly, as Arabic, a product of Aramaic first spoken language, as is Hebrew, are languages that do not have the Alphabet (J), the name Jesus is not referred to in Islam, we refer to Issa Bin Maryam (Jesus Son of Mary). Muslims acknowledge the existence of Issa as a spiritual being, who sent by The Creator to save the Jews from their own destructive behavior, which led Moses (Moosa) to give up on them along the way from Egypt (Misr). Muslims believe that Issa performed all the miracles that were said to have been performed. Muslims believe that Issa will return for the second time, because he initially never died but ascended back to where The Creator decided. Muslims believe that Issa never knew the term Christian, it was invented as an insult to those who followed him. This means that Issa never identified as a Christian, therefore his return will not be predicated on him being a Christian. Muslims believe that Issa was a neutral Messenger of The Creator, who was simply a Servant and Believer in The Creator. Therefore, muslims expect to see the return of issa as a good thing, for those who believe in the Unity of The Creator, without assigning partners to the power of The Creator.
To take it further than this would stretch it into a debate. Just needed to clarify where we stand on the Messenger, the Servant Issa.

So Pen🖊, I would like to share my knowledge on the topic....Being born again is accepting that Jesus came in human form to die for our sins and as a sinless "man" was a willing sacrifice for all human beings for all time. By so doing, He defeated Satan/evil by living a holy life. Because of his perfect life, He was exalted above everything to rule and have authority over all, including eternal death. So in accepting Jesus as your savior, you are picking a side, and that's the side that involves you being with Him eternity long in His glory as your king. Many call this life a passing by, because we are spirit beings. A few years here is obviously nothing compared to eternity.
Just as we blacks slaughter goats for cleansing bad spirits or say one of our ancestors who has passed on came in a dream and says they cant enter in the family because of wrongs they did while alive - the same was done before Jesus by Israel but the did it to be made right/ holy with God for their sins. The story of Job illustrates his when he would do sacrifices to God for his children, "just incase they sinned against God" he would say. That's why God boasted about him to Satan. It wasn't everyone, as you can imagine, who could afford slaughter of goats every other day...how many people have goats even today?? The slaves didn't afford as the masters...the houskeepers too...thats why the coming of Jesus was such a blessing to mankind because it included all to be saved by blood and it was blood of a higher price than that of goats because it was of a human (as He was made flash) and not just any human but a sinless/pure human. The best part is that it was once and for all. African spirituality knows about life being in the blood because its what we have been doing for centuries...the difference is that buying goats was an enslavement of some sort because you part with your wealth every time you have to slaughter. Now, before people attack me, I know goats are not only used for forgiveness of sins, but the sins part slaughter is concerned about the after-life and so is Jesus's blood. So when people were freed from this "enslavement " they still wouldn't accept and still dont even today. Now...baptism is a symbol. For you to be born again and still be able to resist evil, you need some sort of strength- HELP...you cant do it alone. That is why Jesus said "The HELPER will come. Jesus could not be swallowed by the 12 for example eyis'gaxa somuntu. Thats why He said, He had to go so that the Holy Spirit would come. He is the Holy Spirit. Some say the Holy Ghost. Spirit can enter many and live with them unlike one whole human body splitting to pieces and entering generations after generations of people. In John 3 my bro mentioned, Nicodemus had all the knowledge about a Messiah/savior that was to come but he couldn't understand what it meant when Jesus says you must be born again. Water baptism was a submerging of a person to purify the flesh...its was long practiced again by Israel ( Namus in OT, Bethesda pool for the sick, etc). I hope there is a light bulb moment to some here as I keep referring to our African ways. You cannot put food in a dirty dish...so how can the Holy Spirit live in you when you are not clean? Also, submerging meant you die to your old and evil ways and will continue a walk of purity...you cant do it alone, thats why He said be born of water and the Spirit. YOU DIED TO TOUR OLD WAYS AND ARE NOW a new creature which should live a holy life. Its not easy but the Spirit guides you. If you happen to fall short and here I dont mean rebel against God...the blood still works to cleanse to this day if you sincerely repent. Thats why you cant enter heaven if you are not born again. If you were not made pure and when you continued your walk didnt have someone to teach you right from wrong according to God (someone being the Holy Spirit)....he said He will say I never knew you because He never did, He never dwelled within you as the Holy Ghost. You could call Him Lord but not have that relationship and He will deny you.
To be quite honest, I think Africa was colonised because its people are good hearted and love to see good even where there isn't. Thats why right here in our own country people keep voting the same, hoping this time it might be different. Thats why even the people who dont believe in the bible are still slaves of the colonialist, not because they believe in Jesus. If religion was used...then it would explain why they didnt want a black man to know how to read because if you read the bible you can clearly see its not about white people. It would be wise to just read the Bible for understanding and scrutiny before blindly following what a Pastor might teach you

"Thats why right here in our own country people keep voting the same, hoping this time it might be different." People, esp black people, vote with this mindset in the US as well.
