    Yeah, I agree with you on the physical design seeming like a step backwards. It was disappointing to see the addition of a second pole cup, removal of rca, smaller knobs and power button, because those are factors of how the original got its legacy... but as long as they sound better than the originals, it can all be forgiven!

      If your considering them Brian, you will be blown away by the sound my man. I drilled my buddy at QSC about the aesthetic changes and trust me they didn't make any changes before doing extensive research over 4 years to be exact; before deciding on the changes. I'm sure we will see some of UA-cam's professional product specialists do a full comprehensive review of these soon. The menu options are very much different and will require some detailed explaining. Take care

      No doubt in my mind that they sound fantastic. Used to have the original K10's and then upgraded to the KW153's which have both been amazing as well.

      Just uploaded the second part of the video as well as a comparison of the tote bag use, just FYI. They definitely sound fantastic, Im just still not convinced that they're THAT much better than the K12's. Maybe I just haven't heard them in the right situation to change my opinion.

      QSC is an excellent specialist of power amplifiers, world N°2 after CROWN. Amplifier QSC is reliable, musical, dynamic and grow old relatively well. Never QSC has been a manufacturer of loudspeakers as JBL for example. It is not their speciality. Their loudspeakers are not made in their factory. The problem today it is because everybody wants to make everything.THE PROFESSIONALS wait for QSC for their amplifiers, their speciality

    Hey Ethan, just wanted to interject to the complaints you pointed out. The feet serve one purpose and thats for floor monitoring. They are positioned perfectly to do their job. There was never a reason for that big black strip. The speaker mount hole is just different and lifting this 39 lb. speaker which is actually lighter than the original k12 by two pounds. A bit off from 90 pounds wouldn't say. I own them and have tried putting them on the stand in both places and its pretty easy. The handle at the top, I agree with you is different but I believe their reasons for this was to shave weight from the speaker. The knobs are designed to give you smaller increments of change when your adjusting them. As you probably noticed with the original knobs when you turned them; they didn't do much for being able to adjust volume down and up smoothly. Being a owner since the K series started, theres no question that this K12.2 absolutely out classes the original in sound quality by leaps and bounds. I used them for my gigs this past weekend and one was outside. The preciseness of sound from the highs to the lows was insane even at real high peak levels. I'm actually selling my Ksub's because my buddy at QSC said they actually don't recommend using them together because the K12.2's will drown out the Ksub. He was right. I tested it. Although, when I moved the Ksub away from the tops a bit, it seemed a little better. The low end sounds so good. I like it cause, no more bringing a extra sub to those medium sized venues. Complete waste of energy now. Good luck to you.

      I guess my response to all of your interjections would be, but why? Why add a second hole when having one was perfect? Why have less protective rubber on the bottom when you could have more? Why make something seem less sturdy? Just to save a couple pounds? (I misspoke when I said 90lb, i'd been researching the new KS212C lol)

    • @monkeyattack44
      @monkeyattack44  7 років тому +1

      And yes you're right, the nobs are much smoother. But why make them so tiny when you have the entire back of the speaker to work with? Eh. I'm just disappointed and no amount of reasoning is going to change that.

    • @spillwill72
      @spillwill72 7 років тому

      The two holes was because the old style had an issue with the speaker sitting perfectly within its center mass. There was some sort of potential tipping issue. Thats what the QSC said; something down those lines. Have a good one Ethan.

    The 2 hole switch might have been because the original K12s would not sit correctly (perfectly vertical) on Ultimate Support Stands and some other stands. It was said that the reason they didn't sit straight was because the spinning angle option didn't create a tight fit on the pole.

      I am looking to pick up a pair this week but not sure what to get. Looking at new QSC K.2 12 or EV EKX 15 inch they run for the same 799 price. Or save 200 bucks and get the old K12.

      Guitar Center has demos. Thats the best way to hear sound quality. Sound reviews on youtube are as bad as open box reviews. Useless...

      I went last week to two guitar center in my area and they didn't have k.2 yet maybe next week. I just like this review cause he pointed out good down grades that make the original k12 a better buy if sound is not a factor.

    • @spillwill72

      I hear ya Ray. I just didn't really think any of the changes were bad, just different. Lets be honest, sound quality is the only reason for ever upgrading a speaker system. They are still built with QSC quality standards.

    here is the q: two 12k.2 with two ksubs or two 152s and one 181sub?

    • @monkeyattack44
      @monkeyattack44  7 років тому +3

      Neither, two k12.2 and one kw181 sub (preferably two kw181 subs if you can afford it). If you're using an external sub, using anything over a 12 inch top is a waste in my opinion.

      Michael Grinshtat Well it's not my opinion that it's a waste actually, it comes down to the frequency crossover. It is objectively a waste lol.

      I'm considering selling my JBL SRX815P tops and SRX818SP for the K12 and KW181. Debating if I should go with the K12 or K12.2.
      1. Do you suggest changing from JBL to QSC?
      2. Should I go with K12 or K12.2?
      The SRX speakers are big. I feel like they don't get as loud as I would like. The tops don't seem reliable to me if I run them as Mains. I feel like they fall apart. Have had a few issues already with rattling and other issues.
