    Great Review!! I'm considering a pair of these QSC K12.2's to run with my single Peavey 18" subcompact sub. Only things I came across through some reviews was the following;
    Break up when pushed & Boxy, tin compressed sound with not much bass.
    I haven't heard these in person yet but, I will be very soon. I also understand the above falls on EQ as well as what presets were being used. Either case, I will be checking them out. Thanks again for the great review! 😊👍

    Hey Guys. Owned these for about 3 weeks now and played 4 weddings a sweet 16 and 2 proms. They pound. So much more volume then the originals. Miss hit harder. Highs cleaner and low end hits about the same. I noticed mostly the midshipmen's are way punchier. For the price its definitely worth the upgrade. Someone asked if they have reverb..... No lol it does have tho a badass eq. Some people say the highs are too bright.... well dial them down in the eq. They are fully tunable. Such a great buy.

    Really enjoyed your video. I'm considering purchasing these k12.2 speakers in July. My question is: Can I use a powered mixer for these? I have a Behringer ppa2000bt powered mixer/pa that has Bluetooth and I want to use the k12.2's as my mains. I have a MackieVLZ1202 unpowered mixer and was wondering if I can just go from the 1/4"outputs from the PPA2000BT to a channel in the Mackie,then just use the mains from that to the k12.2's?..or just run from the 1/4"out from PPA2000BT to the k12.2's?...any help would be greatly appriciated thanks😎

      Not sure about the model of your mixer but most powered mixers would have a passive output signal besides the powered one .. one thing whatever you DO .. DO NOT plug the powered active signal to the inputs on the speakers.. you will fry the resistors... make sure you use non powered signals.. usually would say , aux or monitors . Just check the specs or user manual of ur mixer, I have a powered mixer Peavy and it works perfectly fine with my active QSC K12.2 .. which by the way best speakers ever made

    I love my RCF HD 12's. I've always been very impressed with with the QSC's but was advised (at the time) that when driven hard they has some distortion at the high's.
    How do the new QSC's compare to your (my?) RCF's regarding sound?

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  7 років тому +3

      I mentioned in the video that the K12's are "ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR" 12's out there , NOT "THE BEST" 12's out there. I have listened to the HD12's and remembered them sounding great with a very natural open musical reproduction with loads of power in reserve. Regarding flexibility of a mixer section and DSP , i would choose the QSC. Regarding just sound quality alone as you mentioned , i would stick with RCF. No doubt about it , those HD12's are special.

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  7 років тому +2

      Thanks. When it comes to sound, everybody has their own personal preference. When it comes to brands each individual has their favourite. ...The mixer section, the extensive onboard DSP, the fan cooling and ultimately being 4kg lighter ... I would choose the QSC

      @radiovoice1968 7 років тому

      Thanks. The thing that stands out to me is the 2 inch driver in the Yamaha vs the 1.4 in the Q. Will that make much of a difference do you believe?

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  7 років тому

      On paper it should so should the wood cabinet. Whatever your ears find pleasing is most that matters therefore a back to back demo is a defenite must. That unfortunately is the best advice I can offer.

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  7 років тому +1

      I compared my K8 with my K8.2 together with my DXR8. The sound of the Yamaha & QSC is quite similar. The DXR8 sounds better than the K8 but only marginally , the LF's (flat response) are more naturally pronounced. The K8.2 sounds better than the DXR8 but again not a million miles apart.They all reach great volume levels for their size and stay detailed and clean. What i find with both brands is their flat response is very accurate whereas some other brands out of the box are a bit or sometimes artificially enhanced. With a flat response the DSP can take over to make those minor adjustments.Personally i think it is difficult to adjust a speaker for different environments/applications when you don't have a near-to-true flat response as a much needed foundation. Musicians need this as a starting point especially for monitoring. You didn't say whether you were using the 12's for instruments or playback material. Maybe the DSR cabinet and improved/superior level of components/processing/construction is mirrored in the DSR 112 and maybe they eclipse the 12.2. If or whenever you hear a demo and make your decision, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Good luck

      Over the past few years I've found myself going the rcf route as they're speakers have proved to be exceptional. Without hearing the 935 it's a hard one to call. Any thoughts on how these would compare to the Bose L1 systems

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  5 років тому

      I listened to the L1 for the very first time a couple of months ago. I saw one at a venue I visited, nobody was about so I plugged it in and gave it a quick fire up.
      I ran a few tracks through it briefly but I needed to have it for longer to put it through its paces
      I remember it sounding extremelying flat (which is good). For a column array I would have liked more low end. I know this isn't necessary for a majority of events but occasionally it's needed and it would be handy if it was available. Coverage in the room was good from what I remember and the unit itself is extremely compact.
      Watch this space, it's on my list to upload a review sometime soon.

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for your comments Michael. I'm just putting out there that the L1 was launched 4 years before the K12 was a twinkle in QSC's eye.
      For many beginners who start off with cheap controllers or turntables, they needn't spend huge amounts on subs and tops. They can purchase a decent used bargain starter sound system with their starter budget.
      I uploaded the L1 video as many beginner DJs who buy the latest expensive controllers or CDJs etc, also end up selling it all and just giving up. Just adding my 2 penneth to help beginners save their cash.

I must say I hate the limit meters & lights that keep coming on my evolves. I think a dedicated reverb unit with decay time , tone & effect level would do a better job than any onboard effect on any active speaker. As reverb is readily available on PA drive racks , musicians mixers , Dj controllers/mixers etc if needed , I guess QSC considered other upgrades over a reverb setting to improve and update their product.

    Hi, I have both k12 and k12.2 speakers. I tested both. in my opinion, and I like k12 sounds much better than k12.2

    I have the kw 181s... haven’t upgraded may not ever... got the kw 152s but my k12 .2s are my work horses use them the most...my cp 12 is for kid karaoke parties or wedding ceremonies... just focusing on the dance floor I did a thousand people event with that system minus 1 /18 inch and the cp 12 ...it went great... the event coordinator didn’t want that uncomfortable overbearing bass fucking up her event some of you young cats are into....sometime you have to just flow with the needs of your client... not what you personally like ...great way not to be hired or get your ass fired.

      Andre... i had a wedding in a venue that accommodates 800 people. It had just under that inside, I'd been told 700+. I used 1 ES1203 & my Evolve 50 and it went great. Carpeted floor enhanced the low end and i got many compliments about the sound.
      I went there again on one Saturday, months after that event and it was in preparation for a wedding, i went with a couple for their wedding planning.
      Couldn't believe what i saw. The disco company had 6× 18" subs & 6 10" -12" tops. Sounded too Sub heavy and a bit muddy in my opinion. Might have been the sound test but they were all set up and playing all the 40 minutes i was there. Unnecessary, they could have travelled much lighter

    Price too high for most DJs..
    Why most budget DJs buy EVs, Mackies, Alto's...
    Who the heck wants to spend 1grand on 1 speaker..
    I stay with new alto 3s or EVs...
    Thanks brother nice video... 👍

    Just demo'd these in store. I felt like the highs seemed artificial. I also get the impression the k.2 versions rely more on a sub to complete the sound spectrum. For me the original k series is better bc it has bass boost, rca, and no digital dsp display - to me that is just something to go wrong

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  6 років тому +1

      I know what you mean about the DEEP setting , was always good to have it in reserve as a secret weapon/backup (invisible internal sub). With the highs we'll all have our own preference and yes as with many speakers when they're coupled/playing with a sub it's hard to revert back without. The DSP is a godsend. I'd also like to add that all my QSC speakers are the only speakers i've had with bullet proof reliability .. they have never skipped a beat or had faults since I've had them. The warranty speaks for itself

    • @Fizyxx
      @Fizyxx 6 років тому

      See - you know what really matters. End of the day these speakers all sound great, they're loud and nice looking and functional and yada yada. The differences in feedback from people are mostly a matter of brand loyalty and exposure time to one over others. I think most perceived preferences are tantamount to placebo effect and those tone differences are cleaned up with the most basic 3 band eq and a half decent ear. K12 to me are solid but flat run high pitch so I eq them down - and when pushed I think the mids get muddy on them. SO i adjust the eq to help. I think I will ultimately end up doing a pair of QSCs just not sure which size/line. I think it looks nicer having the unity in design and name plate, they are manufactured to compliment each other and, my dude - as you said, QSC just lasts. That said, I am replacing a k12 that finally crapped out after 7 years of heavy use. QSC is quality stuff with a 6 year warranty. RCF only has a 3yr war. Yam has 7.. My colleague had a relatively new yamaha crap out and I had an EV crap out inside a year. Oh and when comparing the QSC to RCF - I've read reviews that say QSC is clearly louder. If that's true it kinda seals the deal for me. I like volume AND clarity. Would you say the KW112 or K12/12.2 are louder than RCF 32hd or art 732? Spec sheets have it close but QSC seems to outshine

      I have been saying for years about brand loyalty , some customers will not change brand and benefit or learn from other brands products. I couldn't agree more about a lot of your comments. Sometime soon I shall be uploading my thoughts and a head-to-head with the RCF HD32 , EV ETX12P & K12.2. I believe max SPL is extremely tight with the (did you mean KW122 ), RCF 732 & K12.2/12 .. must only be a smidgen between them. Again , the cleanest at it's max SPL will be the outright winner

      yes I meant kw122. I hope I see the video before making my purchase. But I doubt I would regret buying kw122s. I think versatility comes into the decision too and having the kw122 means better sound on their own as opposed to k12/12.2s on their own.

      Cut the crap. QSC K12 is very good. And QSC K12 2 even better.I have both and use them playing live professionally for the last 5 years.

      I have used QSC HPR122i this past 8 years and have bought every New QSC speaker that came out from them and ended up selling them all and reverted back to my HPR122i. These speakers were made too good. I even bought RCF TT22a which cost £4400 and sold them .
