I was at the 2007 MXofN at Budds Creek maryland. RC, Poto and Tim Ferry, (RC's last pro ride). Poto on the 250 led wire to wire both moto's on his 250. He even fell, tangled with a lapper for at least 10 seconds in one of his motos, and still won. I would have to say he was the best in the world that day,---and it was the last race I ever saw. I like the rider efforts, and the after market efforts, but I really don't like the sport much anymore. Since the EPA forced the 4-stroke on the industry, the sport seems like it was nationalized by a dictatorship, (not free enterprise). In fact, I think it was.
Cheers, it wasn’t bang on as the weather was 20 degrees colder than the vmxdn at foxhill so we went richer on the jetting across the board, it was a good guess as we didn’t have time to set it up properly
Cheers chap, it’s hard to know how much detail to go into as I’m hard wired by race teams to keep everything discreet! Lee & mitch from apex hooked us up
Love the result. Hot set up. That fuel tank is some factory looking lava. It's hard enough to find nos bits for anything 02-03-04 on a Yamaha, but factory? Amazing tentacles that Wob. Brilliant
I’ve always been interested in knowing how to sort out the alignment of the pipe/silencer when the subframes are lowered. Would the silencer mounting tabs not place downward pressure where the pipe meets the silencer?
As we only take 5mm out of the subframe it lowers the tip of the fender 15mm so no real silencer fitting issues, we loosen the pipe and tighten them all up from the back of the bike and work forward
I remember bk in the day I brought one of his XR50's I think he was riding suzuki's then as far I remember first time I've seen anything recent of him in this video is he racing fox Hill this year?
Yea pro circuit did a good job on the cylinders, pipe and silencer- all we needed to do was put the VP fuel it was tuned to run on and jet it, if you get good people on your side it works out
I want to put steering damper from crf to my sx 125 2009 just because I have one laying around 😂 the fitting to the frame supposed to be tig or mig welded? Or it doesn’t matter at all?
Mig or tig is fine, the sweet spot for the mountings is 88mm The biggest issue you would have is the mount on the lower clamp I’d guess- and wether a cycra stadium plate will give you the extra clearance you need- just don’t ruin it for anyone !!
You are right, if you took a lap time from this and a modern bike I wold expect it to be 2 or 3 seconds maybe? That’s 0.1 of a second per year advancement- and zero fun added, not great .
Why did we make all rational bikes (before the 4-stroke), heights higher? Wanna follow me on my lowered YZ250 through an off camber turn? We can get used to anything, (even prison), but it is just a physical fact that tall bikes do not turn as well,---and that is why you have to hunt for a berm. I say the high handlebar set up today is good for freestyle and SX rhythm sections, but there is a loss of control everywhere else, (the hands in line with the steer tube feels "twitchy".). I would have to cut the seat, lower the suspension down a bit, and lower the handlebars (rotated back), until the grip ends are pointing down, and I could ride it. It is a nice build though. 21 years old now. My, time flies when you are getting old. :)
As a business we buy the bikes, build them in our own workshops and run the guys at the event, it’s a considerable investment I can assure you, we have collectors who buy them from us after the event they’re built for- and as I am one of the promoters / owners of the event it’s good press for us to advertise the race, it’s a risk but fortune favours the brave….
Every time I see a video like this the rider talks about how much fun the two stroke is.
They are the best!!
@@docwobtv I agree 100% my main bike is a restored 1995 CR250.
Wobby…. The attention to detail is off the chart mate! Can’t wait to see what you have for the boys this year… Cheers!
Cheers chap?
Another great Video, greetings from Germany
Thank you very much!
That thing sounds amazing
Awesome👌 top man Tony
Tone is the man…

Beautiful sound, it reminds me of why I don't go to AMA Motocross or Supercross anymore.
It is a wonderful finish!
Such a beautiful build. The shot at 11.59 is epic. Nice one Rob
Cheers we are all about them classic moto shots
Amazingg 👌🏼 bike sounds surreal

The bike looks and sounds superb, well done!
Cheers chap, the jetting wasn’t bang on but it was 20 degrees colder than when Ryan raced it
love to watch your job on those bikes
We’re doing more in depth in the workshop for the next episode
Love it !!!!! Looks mint sounds mint. Love all.the technicall detail rob goes into . Apex looked primo . Well.done boys

Thanks my man!
@@docwobtv Really nice bike. I have a never ridden 04 in my collection as well.
Does not get better than a YZ250 2 stroke, i bought 2 and they are incredibly fun
Too true!
Brilliant video guys. Looking forward to the next one
Cheers chap, the next will be back in the workshop showing what’s on build at present
Gizza job? Will work for Jaffa Cakes & tea...
A labour of love, well done boys.
Haha loved this!
Sounds bloody lovely 😍
Yea pro circuit sure make a good pipe & silencer that works with theyre engine package
Another wicked video doc.

I'd work for you for free, hahahhaha. Dream job my man
Well done with this, amazing bike and it's timeless for sure
Wow, thanks!
Nice guys 👌👌
Thanks ✌️
😍😍😍 Never ridden or owned a dinger, but man I want one. Wob, going to give any hints on this years livery???
Wait and see!

It sounded so crisp DR WOB A COMPLETE Magician A 1998 JAN DE GROOT KX 250 would be a good project

@@docwobtv thanks wob for that piece of knowledge! I already run the 19’ front end with cycra stadium so lower bracket won’t be a problem 😎
Love a 2stroke on the pipe, not a patch on my lambretta RB250 though 😉👍
I am sure!
@@docwobtv I was joking that thing flew up the hill like shit off a shovel, what brake you think it is gotta be about 53+
Quality from start to finish!
Are the dry robes team issue only or for sale?
For sale! Ready to go!
They’re in our eBay shop or shoot us an email to save those pesky fees clare@docwob.com
I'd want wide power nice supple plush suspension. Stock motor
I have had 4 Yamaha DTR s an a YZ 250 , I would rather have my best DTR than a YZ I loved it
I guess a DT is better at some things than a YZ?
@@docwobtv yeah YZ is better for racing I bet but I used to be able to go out all day on a DTR in woods ,
The lights are a little weird 😮. But great docwob.
Just studio set up
Steve looks like Kimi Raikkonen 😄
He does but he smiles more
decrease the rebound damping in the rear
I’ll let Ryan know
@@docwobtv awsome then all that power can propel the bike forward as its designed to do
I’d pay money to work on bikes like these!
That’s the spirit!

Yep. Sounds like he still knows how to ride a 2-stroke. :)

This apex?
Yeah buddy!!
@@docwobtv nice. Literally over the road. I live in Worcester
@@jackbeddoes4416 an amazing facility!
Looks like she has some grunt too
Yea we didn’t dyno these as Mitch from pro circuit gave us the good guy setting so I’m sure the horsepower and torque figures are way up on stock
When you see a bike like this it makes me think. How far have Motocross bikes come in the last 20 years? Not much in my opinion.
You are right, if you took a lap time from this and a modern bike I wold expect it to be 2 or 3 seconds maybe? That’s 0.1 of a second per year advancement- and zero fun added, not great .
That’s because two strokes are 4 strokes have nothing on them
Why did we make all rational bikes (before the 4-stroke), heights higher? Wanna follow me on my lowered YZ250 through an off camber turn? Who pays for all this? Bikes, parts shop? Seems very expensive
