After several failed attempts to get different cheap numeric keypads to perform Page Up & Down by just connecting them and trying their keys, I learned to use Switch Control on my iPad. I assigned the Enter key on the right to Page Down, and the 0 key on the left to Page Up. Now I have a $10 page turner, and I don't even have to do Jeremy Choi's mod, though I might anyway since it is rather elegant. Thanks, JC for starting me down the path.
Thanks for this idea. I just made my own for $7.99 and saved myself $50 on a bluetooth page turner that would have just been one more annoying thing to keep charged and paired!
Great! I used a wired numberpad. Mainly going forward, my prog allows any page order so I don't need to go back unless I make a mistake. This allowed me to thicken the next page pedal. Also used USB to micro usb converter. Total approx £9 (GBP) so not far off 10$. Thanks
Thanks for your idea/design. I changed it a bit, though. Instead of cutting the sheet completely it in half, I left it attached at the top for about 10mm. By sanding inbetween I left a gap of about 0,5mm between the two 'halves'. This way I did not have to glue an extra bit under it and directly stuck it on the velcro tape. I use Mobilesheets Pro which allows you to define multiple keys for one action, so I also made num4 ->'page back' and Del ->'next page', making the actions very reliable. Each action is now linked to 2 keys. Hitting the sides rather than the middle of the paddle is already enough, as Num2 / Num4 and Num3 / Del are linked to the left and right paddles. I also included a small on/off switch to extend battery life.
Yes. It seems simpler and more reliable! May I ask what keyboard you used and what kind of plastic material for the "pedal"? The "pvc foam board" I found in Greece seems much thicker. Thanks
@@KostasGrigoreasGuitar I bought a simple Bluetooth 5.0 number keypad for Android, Mac/Ios, Win 7/8/10 from China via AliExpress for €8.96. For the paddle I used a scrab bit of black plastic about 2mm thick from the housing of a broken piece of equipment and in the end I stuck a few foam bits on the keys to make them just a bit higher so the pressing keys was just a bit more reliable.
Great idea!!! 2 Questions: 1) what do you make the "lid" 2 pieces? Is it to turn the pages backward (left) and forward (right)? 2) which keys do you have to leave on the keypad to be able to turn left and right?
Thank You for sharing. I use Acrobat Reader for pdf files and want to jump a line at the time, so I use arrow up and down. As they sit on top of each other, I made just one plate and installed it on the middle row (4,5,6, BackSpace) so I can step on the lower part for forward and the top part for backwards. I drilled out the 4 buttons in the middle row and glued them in, flush with the keyboard to give the double sticky tape more hold. Sensitivity depends on the thickness of the tape, so I had to adjust by sanding of a bit of the underside at both ends of the plate and put a piece of tape beside the middle one.
It works very well, also in socks or barefeet. I just can't make Acrobat scroll smoothly. I have it at 1 line at the time, but it stil jitters where it should just move steadily-
excellent! maybe just pair the calculator and confirm compatibility before removing the keys, ha. but thank you for this! hopefully it will pair with my macbook pro and i can use the 4 and 6 keys to navigate!

(It looks exactly like Walmart's photos of the TBest- down to the QC sticker on the back). The iPad recognizes it (as does my Macbook Pro) and allows input of numbers, but no key or combination of keys will result in Page Down or Page Up. YMMV.
I bought a second Cateck. This one connects readily with Bluetooth, and numbers can be input, but no key will go to the next page in a multi-page (or even two-page) score in forScore. The LOCK key will shut down the iPad. The TAB key will jump to the next pdf. in a list of All Scores or Recently Played. But within a two-page, or more, score, no key will Page Down to the next page.
