8/95 I'm 13 yrs old, watching David letterman at the family cottage. A no name band comes on to close out the show with a song called say it ain't so and my life was forever changed
Weezer stares at the fact that their audience has left them. My roommate tried to make a joke about how Weezer is old and their audience is basically a bunch of children, but it went completely past me. What she made me realize is that once the audience left them, they were shocked, just as many Weezer fans are abandoned them because the music isn't what they want. The whole music video is a commentary on how they aren't heading in the direction that their fans want them to go in. And In an interview with Zane Lowe, Rivers said that the song was about his mixed feelings with escapism
Weezer has always been an experimental band, so this whole "old Weezer was better" is just them saying that the songs they personally prefer were older and they are likely ignoring 90% of the songs.
Maybe the people who want blue album 2 have left but they still have a pretty solid fanbase and have had number one hits twice in the past three or four years so I don't think this is entirely valid. They might've been shocked way back in 2001 but its been years they've grown used to the whining.

My brother and I weren't very close growing up, but he used to drive me to middle school when he was in high school. He had a collection of CDs that he'd play during those drives, and Weezer was on one of those CDs. Years later, we talk more often, and I've been hunting down the bands that he used to listen to. People are complaining over Weezer experimenting with their sound. My favourite Weezer album is the Green Album, due to its heavier, grungy feel. But I am glad that they are trying new things and changing the sound. This is one of my favourite Weezer songs now.
Mister rogers was the kindest and gentlest man in the world... and it was not an act. Everyone who ever met him couldn't believe it. I think he went insane in veitnam and lost his ability to feel negative emotions :P
He didn't mind parodies of himself unless it made fun of his ministry to children. So he'd probably like this. They discuss this topic on his documentary.
Pretty sure he'd have had a problem with the images of children crying in response to the set being mashed in front of kids for entertainment. Also, since the child actors are actually upset for the purpose of the video, there's no way he'd be okay with that or the use of that as part of entertainment. Sidenote for the Vietnam comment, he never fought in Vietnam or served in the military. He was working in broadcasting from the 50s on to his death without a break in service. That's an old myth. Really good footage of him advocating for Public Funding from Congress to keep the show on the air aimed that time frame. They gave it to him with their literal compliment
@@noorrazzaq6820 100% accurate... I think Mr. Rogers would have been fine with it up until the kids started crying, and they started destroying the set. That would have brought strong criticism from him.

Which meme?
I'm seeing a recurring theme so far with the songs and music videos released for the Black album. The band is finally making the music they want to make instead of what some of the fans want. I'm really happy that they are finally doing what they want creatively, but I am also sad that they had to feel this way.
Childhood is crying inside me. Mr Rogers will be missed
Is it just me or Black and White Album has similar title names??? High as a kite/Do You Wanna Get High?, Living in L.A./L.A Girlz, California Kids/California Snow, & The Prince Who Wanted Everything/King of the World????
And we can do so many great things together forever

Genius
Hmm
No dip
People are complaining over Weezer experimenting with their sound. My favourite Weezer album is the Green Album, due to its heavier, grungy feel. But I am glad that they are trying new things and changing the sound. This is one of my favourite Weezer songs now.
2:52 Even he knew this song was a bop
I wonder how Mister Rogers himself would react to this, had he lived to see this music video?
He would love it and congratulate weezer on a job well done
Beautiful song. Always loved weezer a kid. Now I’m 26 and they still get me through. Thank WEEZ. Love ya guys
This felt like some classic Pinkerton / green album age weezer right here. Loved it! Video had the small budget buddy holly vibe too. Great work guys, still kicking it after all these years 😍
Mind Blown The Buddy Holly video was one of the most expensive videos they ever made.
Blockchain Millionaire I know, but the four guys in a retro filter video stood on a small stage whilst being on TV. Felt similar to me.
Best off the Black Album. That, probably isn’t saying much, but tbh just as good as some of their best songs.
I think of my beloved sister high as a kite , flying like a beautiful bird. Miss you.
when they performed this song live it was amazing.
thank u
Here at 40 views, this song is classic Weezer!! Thank you weezer!!!
I've lived in Alabama for over 30 years. Ive seen and been through some ugly things. Spent years in heroin and meth addiction. Months in jail. Months in rehabs. Disappointed a lot of good people. Hated myself. Took it out on myself. OD'd multiple times. Lost a few people close to the same decisions I had made. This song hits on so many levels for so many reasons. I just wanted to share.
The little girl in the green shirt deserves all the awards. Oscar worthy performance.
Oh, That's what you get when you put my fav. show as a kid w my fav. band in a video! Love it!
I really love this video lolol. This is probably the best song on the new album. So proud of Weezer for remaining relevant and quality for so long! Love u Rivers!
WOAH I didn't expect to like this song. this is epic
Weezer rocks High As A Kite with a little Carpenters sound. I want to listen to it on AM radio all day.
This may, in fact, be the best Weezer video of all time. Immediate legend.
This song's a vibe.
an amazing song on a not so well loved album, its a shame that this masterpiece hides behind the shadow of black.
One of the best modern music videos by far imo
Can’t tell what I like better the song or the music video 🤔
All I can is that this song is very weezer.
In the best way possible.
Top 5 easily.
What an amazing song by an amazing band! Weezer4Ever!!!
I really love this song, it has grown on me over the years especially with it's meabing
That bass line 😊♥️🎶
love this song, thank you WEEZER!
"We are really glad that you're our friend and this is a friendship that will never, ever end!"
Firefly funhouse vibes for sure
This song can fit OK Human tbh, just replace all the guitars with trumpets and loud cellos.
Yeah i am thinking the same...
I feel like Numbers is already the song for that though, especially how similar the chorus sounds.
I’d describe myself as a traditional Weezer fan but holy smokes...that song+video is a straight masterpiece 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Forget the music video. This is one of Rivers’ best, probably most beautiful, song in years.
So glad I grew up with Mr. Rivers Neighborhood.
This song and the White Album feel like they are getting good as Blue and Pinkerton
Music Video always leaves a mark. And this is another winner for Weezer❤
Scott looking stoic in his cop uniform
Weezer would make a SICK cover of We’re Not Gonna Take It.
Greatest ever.
*I need my Saturday morning cereal*
Pixel Game Squad freaking pixel game squad is in here! Awesome!!
