What I love about Rivers as a songwriter is that he never tries to impress anybody - he expresses himself sincerely and genuinely through his music, without pretense, and the result is always delightful
@@PassiveNights Yeah, it's called the "cut-up" method and it was/is used by David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, David Byrne, and Thom Yorke, among others. It's easy to make anything you don't understand sound bad by describing it in a reductive, dismissive way. It sounds way more like the Blue album. Ripping solos in both songs. There really wearing there influences on the sleeves like the white album. Who cares about the mustache. Both songs rip.
This video is a great time capsule of a time we will one day look back on with equal fondness and sadness. It was a brief moment when everyone was together for the very reason that nobody could be together. And then the opportunists came and broke it all apart. Pando generation forever.
If I will tatto myself, it will be Weezer logo on the right arm and a Tri-Force on the left... I love you Weezer and you always been a part of me since Blue Album, I´m so happy that you still write so good songs!!!!
After the announcement of Van weezer, i thought they would just lose their minds and pretend to be a Van Halen Meme band or smth. I never predicted such a good "Weezer" Sounding song again :o Please don't dissapoint us Weezer. Let the full album be like this please
Wow!! as a Healthcare worker (housekeeping in hospital) the letter at the end is very touching. I was at my place of work a year before covid hit. Been battling this dam thing since. To all my fellow Healthcare workers around the globe: I know yall tired. We did not sign up to be a heros. Just remember yall are not alone in this battle. It is ok to cry, scream, laugh, and drop to the floor. Just always remember to look up. A helping hand is always extended to pick you up for the rest of this battle. Love all yall.
I work in a hospital with covid patients and being strong but it's beginning to take its toll.... Then I JUST found this song.... Thank you Weezer, always been a huge fan. Hard times for all, but together and washing our hands we'll get thru this.
After becoming unemployed, I got lucky yesterday and I found a job. I start this Friday. To be honest I'm dead scared of getting the virus and getting sick, and potentially bringing it home to my family. I feel a lot better after hearing this song.
Same boat here. Laid off Easter morning, called back to start this week. Apprehensive about bringing covid home to the family, but like you said, hearing this is making it easier. We are ready to move forward. Best of luck to you and kindest regards.
I have a feeling this album is gonna crack my Top 5 already, I've had this on repeat for the past hour, and I did the same with End Of The Game. Looking forward to the album's eventual release!
It's exceedingly rare I get chills listening to a song for the first time. For me, that usually comes with familiarity. But within 20 seconds I got chills listening to this song. Since 2016, I've been saying Weezer can actually put out an album better than Blue and Pinkerton, because White came damned close. Van Weezer just may be that album. I usually don't care for the Weezer singles on their good albums, and only like their singles on their weaker albums. White, Blue, and Pinkerton are the only exceptions to this, and I really have my hopes up now that Van Weezer is going to be one such album as well, because I love both Hero and End of the Game.
@@TheLordNeko I love red, at least half of it. lol The Greatest Man that Ever Lived is IMO their best song ever, but for every song I love on Red, there's a song I don't care too much for as well. The law of averages takes it toll. It's mediocre to me. It's got the highest of highs, and a bunch of bland songs. That's my opinion at least. I really like Green too. Adore Island in the Sun, and the rest are really good to great, but to me, just don't stand out very much.
Can we all just agree that this is the most wholesome video on the internet right now. I just want to say thank you Weezer for showing all of us that no matter who you are or where you come from you can be a hero.
Ok, so... Love OK Human. One of the best ever, if not THE BEST, but damn I want Van Weezer. I feel like OK Human and Van Weezer are going to be Yin and Yang to one another. Both arguably the best Weezer albums and each exemplifying two very different sides to what Weezer has to offer.
Okay this is super self-indulgent and literally nobody's gonna care but I'm so excited I have to tell this right now. I'm currently writing a story about superheroes, and one of the characters was always expected to be a great hero but couldn't live up to everybody's expectations and through a series of unfortunate events he turned into a villain. He is redeemed at the end though, and I feel like this song fits him so well because in the end he accepts that he doesn't have to be a hero and is fine with just being him. Also the story canonically ends in early 2020 and this song came out a month ago so I think it double fits and I'm just so happy right now and if you've read this far then thank you for listening to my delusional daydreams and I hope you have a great day!
I have a story with a similar thing going on, but he doesn't turn into a villain since he is given an eye opener as he fights a future version of himself who DOES become a villain... Well he still becomes a villain but this time due to events outside his control. The lancer then becomes the protagonist for a short while after.

While the rest of us retreated to our homes, you ran towards the threat in a battle you didn't even know you signed up for. Your bravery and selflessness are awe-inspiring. You are the reason we shall rock another day.
Life is good, and for all of this, we thank you. ~Rivers Cuomo, WEEZER". Well said guys, thank YOU! 💜❤️🧡💛💙💚
Weezer... You all should know that you rocking is the very reason i keep on going in life..
My heart is so full. 💜 Thank you for allowing your fans to be a part of something so special.
This made me feel so great. Not because I'm an essential worker but because this shows people care about each other, and we need more of that.
I just got fired due to the coronavirus, and this, make the day a little bit better.
If you're in the U.S. get that unemployment application going today. Congress set up a safety net for these times and there is no shame in collecting.
Me too my guy. Don't worry just wait everything will become better than it was before.
Anthony, I'm so sorry. I lost my job on March 24th because of the virus. It's been incredibly stressful. Hang in there, my friend and stay positive. Sending you blessings from Washington.
:( I hope you are doing alright. Best wishes from Canada
I will pray that you find something better and I hope for the best for you.
Ive worked doing food delivery through the pandemic for door dash to people's homes. I thank you weezer for always rocking my world with your music the first time i heard of you guys was on a windows 95 disc with the sone buddy hollie with the video being setup like the show happy days loved it and have been a fan since then thank you again for all you do for people like me around the world with you amazing music
This is the song I needed in my life right now. Since i am about to leave my life behind and ride my bike across Texas. Thank you guys! I've been a big fan since I was a kid.
Van weezer is literally the Red Album, he even has the moustache man
But better
I hope not lol
Van weezer hasn’t even been released and you’re competing it to red album already. U dckhead
@@emilioaladwhosintheinterne8421 so far
It sounds way more like the Blue album. Ripping solos in both songs. There really wearing there influences on the sleeves like the white album. Who cares about the mustache. Both songs rip.
Yo that’s actually really good. All these bands r making albums but they don’t have that original sound of that band...Pearl Jam, Green Day, etc.
MarktheShark i couldn’t agree more
Okay but weezer is actually doing it good.
Green day father of all was... something
@@Persys It sure was pal
I dont mind bands changing their style lol just weezer never did it that well
I feel bad for whoever had to edit this.
Yeah timing all these shots must have been SO PAINSTAKING. But good to know some editor(s) got some work during all this.
It was worth it tho
Especially since the deadline to submit a video was April 27th!
It was most likely a team of many people so not as much but still it takes talent and time even with many propel.
I bet they had fun even if it was torture
This video is a great time capsule of a time we will one day look back on with equal fondness and sadness. It was a brief moment when everyone was together for the very reason that nobody could be together. And then the opportunists came and broke it all apart. Pando generation forever.
If I will tatto myself, it will be Weezer logo on the right arm and a Tri-Force on the left...
I love you Weezer and you always been a part of me since Blue Album, I´m so happy that you still write so good songs!!!!
"I'm not everyone else, I walk alone"
I've always felt that way since Highschool 😂
Lel
Ok now release the whole album.
Aditya Mishra Its delayed :(
@@TommyDoesMusic no what why
Ashley S id hope that would be done considering it was supposed to be released this month
You’d think it has to be finished. Been on pre order for like half a year
After the announcement of Van weezer, i thought they would just lose their minds and pretend to be a Van Halen Meme band or smth.
I never predicted such a good "Weezer" Sounding song again :o Please don't dissapoint us Weezer. Let the full album be like this please
1:26 i love that banna guy living his best life
Buen tema grande wezeer 💪🤘
Keep on partying banana 🍌
??? 「I've never looked so good」
Weezer has seriously stepped up their game..
Yep 👍
Sadly, it’s the end of the game 😔🤘(ooooo hit me!)
Beautiful message and awesome song!
2:30-2:35: Brian: Here catch the plane Brian.
Brian: :-) Woah!! Thank you Brian that was awesome!! XD
Nice seeing Rivers' Red Album mustache coming back! Stay safe Weezer & Weezer fans! =w=
Wow!! as a Healthcare worker (housekeeping in hospital) the letter at the end is very touching.
Hearing this while my fiance is at work, thank you for thanking him and everyone else keeping our country going
I’ve never had a better reason to be a part of this fanbase. This band keeps us going, we will rock another day 🤟🏻
Love it. The guitar presence and distortion are exactly the kind of sound I was hoping for Weezer to go for.
Read the letter and here come the tears 😩😭 Love you Weezer ♥️♥️♥️♥️
After becoming unemployed, I got lucky yesterday and I found a job. I start this Friday. To be honest I'm dead scared of getting the virus and getting sick, and potentially bringing it home to my family. I feel a lot better after hearing this song.
Same boat here. Laid off Easter morning, called back to start this week. Apprehensive about bringing covid home to the family, but like you said, hearing this is making it easier. We are ready to move forward. Best of luck to you and kindest regards.
Hope your job is going well for you Karl. Praying for you and your family 🙏 Psalm 91
@@walkbyHislight Thank you! It's going well. Still being careful and safe, but the fears have definitely subsided.
@@karl_calv No problem. Good to hear that.
I'm having trouble trying to sleep
I'm counting sheep but running out
1:50 Red Album Rivers pillow
That’s me :)
oyomary where can I get that masterpiece?
1:40 whale pillows
I have a feeling this album is gonna crack my Top 5 already, I've had this on repeat for the past hour, and I did the same with End Of The Game. Looking forward to the album's eventual release!
You and me both. I can't pass on to the next song. This one is that good
One of the most ROCKING Weezer songs in a long time! That opening riff and the chorus both great.
Rivers, Brian, Pat and Scott. Thanks for a wonderful 25 or so years. My life is better because of your music. And now so is my children's.
RicoLen1 exact same feeling man. Absolutely identical!
Yes
Why no love for Red?
@@TheLordNeko I love red, at least half of it. lol The Greatest Man that Ever Lived is IMO their best song ever, but for every song I love on Red, there's a song I don't care too much for as well. The law of averages takes it toll. It's mediocre to me. It's got the highest of highs, and a bunch of bland songs. That's my opinion at least. I really like Green too. Adore Island in the Sun, and the rest are really good to great, but to me, just don't stand out very much.
This song made me glad I have the Weezer logo tattooed on me again
Brick that’s sick
As a fellow "successful garage band" tattoo owner, I hold some hope for Alkaline Trio then
I've had mine for 21 years now.
Nothing should make one glad to have a tattoo.
@@johnharvey4448 Ok B O O M E R
Are we not gonna talk about how at 2:32 Brian literally passed the note to himself
At 2:11 I pass the paper to myself 😂 I'm wearing the Merica pants.
And he looks so unimpressed while doing it. 😆
Nothing wrong with passing a note to yourself, I've done the same after some years and reading a letter to my future self.
This song is dope!!!!
I don't give AF that no one says dope, I'm from the 80s and bringing it back!!
Absolutely jamming to this song getting ready for an appointment, it’s blasting ! Love it . 🎶”Everybody needs a 🦸♀️ Hero”... “Yeah, I walk alone “. 🎶
I thinks it’s safe to say Van Weezer is gonna be a classic 😭🙏
Just got finished being violated by my Heat and Mass Transfer final exam to see this single finally dropped. Makes things a little better
Can we all just agree that this is the most wholesome video on the internet right now. I just want to say thank you Weezer for showing all of us that no matter who you are or where you come from you can be a hero.
I think the world has never needed WEEZER more!!!… thank you for still being relevant and a band that’s relatable and loveable across generations!!!
初めて聞いたけどめっちゃ良い曲!!
😊😊😊
Such a brilliant and fun video and song. The note at the end... dem feels.
I feel the same way!! So excited for van weezer, and so excited for virtual ok human concert!!
Dude, that sounds sick and I would be just as excited!
I'm proud to call you my favorite. I just really wish I could meet you one day. Can't see your concert because of this shenanigans. I'll miss you.
This video and song are one of the few bright sides of 2020. Literally restored my faith in humanity.
I know I'm not focusing on the song enough, but is that Dave Depper at 45 seconds??? And Brendan Urie ('s puppet) is awesome as always!
i noticed that too!!! thats definitely him :)
I saw Brandon Urie's puppet too! Pretty cool!
@@Nat-fj5db that's so cool 😊
Okay I’m sorry but I just had to do it because I’m this entire comment section his name was misspelled twice...
So it’s not Brendan, or Brandon...
It’s Brendon.. an E and an O.. no A
Oh and the muppets name is Beebo...
