I’m enjoying the new channel so far. You lend a certain incredibility to these games which makes for interesting content. As a sidenote. I’m actually quite impressed with your/anybody’s ability to play these games at all. Conceptionally I am interested in playing them myself, but I know I would get overwhelmed with all the little intricacies.
To answer your question as to how they would know the correct LZ, before the mission, the company commander would go on a scout flight to the area, select a suitable LZ, and then coordinate air support and artillery to soften up the area. As the choppers get closer, the pilots would be able to see all the ordinance hitting and know more or less they found the right spot. Bird dog spotter planes would sometimes also be flying over to help direct the flight package in. There would also be additional helpers like photos, radio checks, smoke, lights, etc. You'd have your most experienced pilot that knew the AO and prominent terrain markers help lead the flight too.
That AI collision avoidance made me remember one of the first missions on the F-15C, to down a Russian AWACS, but to get there you had to fly through a valley to avoid SAMs, and if you flew low enough, you could get your wingman to crash into terrain, consistently. The first time I was confused when I lost track of my wingman but the second time I realized what was going on.
Ah yes, the Senator that questioned the Rear Admiral why they were purchasing Submarines that could only remain under water for 20 minutes.... 😂 The patience the Admiral had that day.
Navigation in Vietnam was pretty much just map, compass, and clock, with occasional aids like aerial photography, landmarks, radio navigation, communication with ground controllers, smoke and light signals, etc.
If you're looking for stuff to play on this channel then Wargame : European Escalation has an 11th ACR campaign with some really interesting missions, you should definitely play it.
Iirc in the DCS huey if you release the force trim without an FFB stick it doesn't apply any control until the in-game stick is centered, so it doesn't jolt you around
@@ChieftainsHatchGamingAt 38:30 you mentioned an Australian politician not exactly understanding what's the difference between a power plant and a propulsion system.
Not bad, great decision detail but as a viewer, rather boring watching the most of it is commuting. I’m glad you filled the void with trivia to help keep interest. I liked the tank game and maybe you could play a submarine war simulator

I'd love to see you play Hearts of Iron 4 if possible. That would be fun to watch and have you design your own tanks, planes and ships

I still lived at home back then… My mom and I both wondered what that congressman smoked at lunch. 🤣

just finished part 1 and bam, you upload part 2. Awesome timing :)
The most modern game I've played is cc5 so this is quite a revelation.

After a quick google maps search, I count eight golf courses, six are probably public courses and two are private country clubs??
Can anyone link the video chieftain mentioned? The whole situation sounds abnormally stupid, but googling it gives me no results.
Remind me, which video?

@@Kozakow Oh, right. Try this one. ua-cam.com/video/UYF08jJi9Hg/v-deo.htmlsi=DpJ-Jnzgeqnsft1z
Golf is the Air Force's national past time. Of course there would be shit ton of golf courses on or near Andersen AFB. lol
Love the vid, but it would be kinda cool to just chill in a helicopter with the Cheiftan, without a war and watching people die of course.
You learned to fly at Bowman Field I'm guessing?
No, Elizabethtown
Speaks about brothels, condoms, and withdrawals.😂
This looks more involved than I'm looking for in a sim, so I'd rather watch someone else play it than play it myself.
the F-4 just Phase shifts through friendly aircraft

Yey
Just put rotors on a tank.
Give this man an award and half the defence budget
