This is awesome to see they're still performing this song after so many years. "Don't Close Your Eyes" has a tremendous significance for me. It not only was dedicated to the ones who committed suicide in my family, but was also an immediate answer to my prayers.(1995) I was at the time what I thought hopelessly addicted to drugs, lost all contact with my family, lost my job, had a cheating abusive boyfriend who I'd wait endlessly for to come home. I thought there was no chance for me, and wrote a suicide note and had a plan plotted to follow through. At the very last second as I sliced a razor to my wrist and wiped blood on the last goodbye letter, I called out to God that if it wasn't my time to go to give me a Sign. I layed back and closed my eyes, waiting to die~ The things that unfolded after that were none the less Our Heavenly Father intervining and lifting me up out of the toxic mess I was in. I heard His soft comforting voice speaking to me, revealing that this would pass but that I needed to get up and He began to tell me all the things I still had to look forward to. And that He would break the chains of addiction for me if I would just trust in Him. Well, with tears in my eyes, I sat up & I felt like I was having an out of body experience as I went over to where our stereo was and reached in the middle of a crate full of hundreds of cassette tapes, and I grabbed ahold of a random 90 minute yellow/pink/aqua Maxwell one consisting of many many different songs I compiled together. I had no idea what was on it because it wasn't labled but saw that it had already been played halfway through. As soon as I put it in the stereo and pressed play, it was this exact song right at the part of ".......IN THE MIDDLE OF A SUICIDE........Don't Close Your Eyes, Don't close your eye~ye~eyes!........" I just knew without a doubt this was at the works of God's Hands. Immediately I felt the weight of addiction off of me, as He continued to comfort me for calling upon His Mighty Name. I looked down at my wrist and mysteriously the laceration had disappeared and the skin looked as though it was never broken. The next day my former boss came looking for me to come back to be employed at the job, my family reached out to reconcile, and I became pregnant with my miracle baby I had always longed for. Many things have come to pass. It's not to say that our journey will be easy, but I tell you, it's a lot more tolerable in knowing we have an amazing all powerful God to take charge over what seems to be impossible. He loves us so sooooo much, unconditionally, nothing will separate the agape. Trust in Him above all things and lean not on your own understanding, and I guarantee you He will blow your mind. He will elevate you above any level known to man, aqnd definitely any drug the adversary has to offer. Just P.U.S.H. Pray Until Something Happens. Don't quit, anybody! Suicide is NOT the answer to end problems, just believe in our Heavenly Father and see how He believes in YOU. God Bless All. (Phillippians 4:13) (JOHN 3:16)
james frank yes....indeed...it is very much true. God and only God can move a mountain...He is mighty to save and performs miracles regularly. A mustard seed of faith believing He can & will is all you need. When I very first heard this song...it was right after a suicide to someone very close to me in my family. So I called in a request to hear it on our local radio station and that he publicly dedicate it in memory of my loss. Anytime I heard it it was my personal dedicatation to get through it.I attributed it to those who lost their lives & later it came to be a Sign from God to save my very own. Our Heavenly Father has literally helped me overcome many many unimaginable troubles in my life. And He can do this for anybody....not just me...He loves each of us as if we are the only one. That relationship with Him is amazing & will blow your mind beyond comprehension. One moment alone in His Presence can change the course of your life in ways you never thought possible. And He is everywhere so we all can pray anywhere. He understands even the worst acts any of us can commit and still won't separate His Love for us. So when we mess up.. Don't give up....simply Trust in God to guide us past our terrible situation. He knows none of His children can do it on their own so He sent Jesus Christ -when we are ready and sick & tired of being sick & tired Jesus is the Way,the truth & the life. Follow His Light out of the darkness. Believe I have seen things I never wanted to & cannot unsee...but wow Jesus Christ elevated me over the troubled seas safely to shore. Hold on I say to anyone suffering...it will soon pass...and the reward for trusting in God blesses you in such a Way...it makes your overcome problems almost worth it because God in your presence is comforting enough to reassure you what is ahead is far better than what had you down. He will and does lift you up. But only if you let Him. He doesn't force Himself on us like the devil does...He sent Jesus to overcome that for us. Hallelujah. God Bless Everyone. Take care. He Loves us all...even the worst of us.
