This song always gives me chills. The 80's are always joked about because of the fashion, the big hair bands, the guitar solos, etc.. Whenever I reminisce with people that grew up in that era, watching The Headbangers Ball and enjoying "cruising" around towns "The Loops" where everyone would be out "cruising" looking for the party of the night and we would all be blasting our car stereos, trying to make a statement to everyone else Just having a good time and the music in the 1980s were amazing, incredible, fun, powerful, timeless, and This song "Don't Close Your Eyes" is one of those that I will always cherish and defend as a truly phenomenal track with vocals that are extremely powerful!! This is a great live version.
People who laugh are just jealous they missed out on these great times. Music at that time was all about the party and the good times. The 80's were a carryover from the 70's as far as outlook on life etc. Miss those days..
It is truly one of my biggest frustrations. That I was born in the 90s so I didnt get to enjoy all the amazing 80s rock. All I really listen to is 80s rock. Namely Def Leppard and Great White as the first music I was exposed to. Truly timeless songs. And i maintain, i may be only 22 yo, but this music is what I breathe. But bruh, what I would give to live thru the 80s and go to soooo many concerts with my favorite bands.
Best live band ever. They used to play a small club near Pittsburgh Pa back in the day to a crowd of roughly 15 people and they played just as if they were playing to a stadium. After the show, they would come over to the bar and hang out with us for at least an hour......seen them at least 20 times over the years and going to see them in december......cant wait!!!
@@misshair it was at the RPM club in Bridgeville. One show, Whiteman was going off about the pole that was dead smack in the front center of the stage...hahaha. They played there as Kix, and for a while Funny Money
@@fgwilli76 I don't see how you're confused by the statement. He sounds better than 2021 Axel, but in comparison to 80s 90s Axel, I'd have to disagree. Makes sense now?
He's lip syncing. Mic is turned down. You can see it at the beginning. There playing recorded vocals. That's why it sounds exactly like the album version with no real variation. I love Kix so just pointing it out. It's not really a live performance
This should really have more 👍🏻 Unreal! I remember when this came out. I played it until I wore out the cassette in my Clarion Stereo of my 79 Crapmaro RS.
I love this voice,,,, great great song. I could only get my hands on that kind of material when it was too late. In my little town in brazil it was impossible to hear that kind of music in the 90’s,,they just kept showing those goddamned soccer games all day long ,, madonna and michael jackson....sometimes
Que bun tema que habracido de esta banda de har rock por que sera estos rockeros tam buenos no sigen asiendo mucica si son tan geniales por sacan un buen tema ydespues nadie se acuerda de ellos no esplicp drspues quedan en olvido que fome
Man, back in the day he could belt this out live. Just amazing. Shame he completely shredded his voice. Still no one can sing that way forever without damaging their vocal cords. Glad this live performance from the 80's was actually posted.
I wish I could find Fore Shame live from this era. Saw them in Hampton Roads Coliseum opening for Whitesnake and everyone had the lighters going and were singing it. A great Moment
Sounds like he's lip sync the song, it's sounds just like the radio version, and I know of only one band who does a live show as good or better than the radio version and that is ACDC.
This is how you Judge a Band, by their Live performing, and this is Perfection. Steve is an Underrated Rock Legend.
Dude can rip the shit out of a harmonica too!
To this day, I don’t think this song ever got the credit it deserves. An underrated gem, to say the least.

Guy is awesome. Reminds me a bit of Axl rose. This guy can sing maybe even better than Rose..
@@fgwilli76 modern day axel? Absolutely!

Im so glad i lived during the 80s....im 57 now....no other era like it for music...
Best pure 80's rock voice ever peroid.
You might want to consider Jack Russell. Not arguing your opinion, just think Russell might be right there with Steve Whiteman.
Tom Keifer kick ass
For me it’s Axl.
Oh definitely- rose, this guy here, and Cindarella front man were the top 3 in my opinion. Rose and Whiteman sounded a lot alike. @chriswar2939

From what I understand he can still belt out those vocals.
No, he/they still sound awesome. I've seen them 2 twice in the last 5 years
Uh no he still sounds awesome lol
What a voice!
These were the Best Times!!!!
I love this song, and this a spectacular live performance of it. I have to say, the lead singer looks like Axl Rose, in particular in 0:35 - 0:52

Tengo la leve impresión que el vocal y la banda en general estaban haciendo playback
La voz no esta en vivo. Esta editada para mejorar la versión. Como muchos discos de metal en los 70s....Judas, thin lizzy, ufo.
The band was playing but the singer had his vocals added.
Mantappp
Dudes Mic is turned down. There using a backing track to him basically lip syncing
Chewing gum and belting out that killer voice
I'm not sure that this is completely live.
