I feel like the SpaceRex video is more of a "better than nothing" backup for first time buyers, no? I don't think he's implying that it's a long term solution. I mean I only just bought a DS423+ and 3x8TB drives, and I definitely couldn't afford to buy an entire second system right now.
And the NAS + an external backup (Which is actually a WD Red Pro 16TB in an enclosure) is definitely a lot better than what I was doing previously, which was manually copying everything across a bunch of external drives (Which is wayyy too common amongst photographers/videographers!) so I think the external drive backup should tie me over for a couple months when I'm able to get a second NAS (Already budgeting for it actually).

You need good software, you need to monitor your backup email report every day and you need to do some test restores occasionally.

So if you have, say, 4x 6TB drives in Raid 5, and you have used 12TB, why not calculate the cost and present it in your video, and also do a speed test and see how long it takes to upload 100GB. I use Veeam Community Edition myself, and the full edition a work. One of the big problems is cloud costs, and speed to move data to the cloud.

I totally agree with you. This was one of the worst Spacerex video's I ever saw, up to the point that I felt that it was sponsored by WD to promote their external harddrives. Also I've read numerous reports about these WD external HD's failing, their quality apparantly is not up to the same level as their NAS harddrives.
