I agree. Encryption also means more access time since the data has to be decrypted before you can access it.
For sensitive data, I guess folder level encryption makes sense.

Hi! I just got my Synology DS223j i i want to create a user account but private... Meaning I'm (administrator) don't wanna be able to see or delete content that user uploads... I cannot find the way to do that... Do you know? Thanks in advance

Hi Nick, do you have any ideas on my problem with Synology DS Video:
When playing MKV files via DS Video, playback is jerky, it looks like the film is only being displayed at 15 FPS and the image quality is not that sharp either.

When using the DS Video app on the iPad and Apple TV both via Quickconnect ID and via the direct IP address within the network.
[Measures taken before occurrence or steps to recreate the problem]
I have just replaced my old DS1515+ with a new DS1522+ and installed the two packages Videostation and Mediaserver.
I have activated audio and video transcoding on the Mediaserver.
On my router, ports 5000 and 5001 for the Videostation are forwarded to the NAS.
I assume that it is "just" a setting issue, since it worked perfectly with the old Synology DS1515+.

You shouldnt need to encrypt your storage pool. Its waste of CPU power. If someone does steal your NAS, they are going to stealing the rest of your stuff as well. Locating the NAS into the hardest of reach places help.
