  • The newest of Björn's "Amp-in-a-Box" (AIAB) circuits, the Jubilee Red is a modern high-gain distortion pedal with tonal roots descending from the legendary Silver Jubilee series of British amplifiers that were created in the late 80's.
    Björn Says
Though it was primarily designed for metal style music, the playability of the Jubilee Red that makes each note on the fretboard about equal can absolutely be used for other styles - certainly for heavier lead playing in any genre. It allows for very fluid note playing along the entire fretboard at any gain setting, whereas the Purple Plexifier, a similar British amp-inspired One Control pedal, needs to have the gain control maxed out to approach this sound. At lower gain settings, the sounds of the Jubilee Red are more modern than those of the Purple Plexifier.
The MID control sets the depth of the midnotch and it is centered at 600hz - the tone control network creates a midnotch, while turning up the MID knob lessens the notch and flattens the tonal response. The TREBLE knob is technically a tone-balance that sets the balances of treble and bass points around a midnotch and the treble shelf is about 2kHz while the bass hump appears around 100hz.

These guys are putting out some of Bjorn's best. This is a very unique offering from him. Thanks for bringing this to us!

Hey Hans! What are your thoughts and the difference between this pedal and the rebel red? :) Nice video, helps a lot, thanks! :)

Great playing! Do you know how this compares with the very recently released rebel red distortion 4 knob mini? That pedal has both a Drive knob and a Distortion Knob, but doesn’t have a Mids knob like this Jubilee pedal.

That’s a lota gain... treble at 1:00 and mid at 3:00 seemed like a good setting👍. Nice demo. Any chance you get to demo the Persian Green Screamer Pro?😉😉

I have one of these. I find it good, but with the Volume knob turned up full and the gain at about half, when I switch the pedal off my straight, unaffected clean tone seems to be louder that the Red Jubilee's distorted tones! Is something wrong with the pedal? Going into a Super PA 100W EL34 amp which is super clean at low to mid volume. My Rebel Red Distortion is the exact opposite. The volume control has to be about 1/3 or less otherwise its way to loud in comparison to the clean tone. Using a couple of Gibson Custom shop Les Pauls.

Hm that sounds strange.. with your settings it should be a lot louder with the pedal on.

Does this thing sound good as a preamp? Wonder if it has cab emulation.

This pedal pedal is based on the lead channel of my Marshall 2558 Combo.
It works great as a preamp straight in to the poweramp of any
amp that has a serial effects loop. Thats why Björn call the pedal An Amp In A Box. Sounds killer. And also in front of any amp that
      takes pedals well.
It doesnt have a cab emulation built in.
The pedal like to work on high volume just my amp that it is based on to get that great Silver Jubilee sound.
On lower volumes it can sound fizzy exact like my 2558 on lower volumes .
Björn Juhl had my amp in his workshop for over a year for testing so i think it is a great Amp In A Box Pedal if you know
how to use it after Björns recommendations.
      Best regards.
