    My 2011 PK Ranger was my first non-Toyota I ever owned. Going from my 80 series to the Ranger was awesome. Only work in the last two years Ive had to do on it is a couple of bushes and oil/air/fuel. Not having to worry about every stupid little thing needing replacing (and also having to source second hand 90's parts) is just too good.

    I own a 2010 bt50 with 300xxx kms & for a 1st car it goes hard as. I've had to do injectors, egr refit, catch can, radiator, gotta do injector & rocker seals, gotta do re-main, wanna do clutch purely for maintenance, had to do passenger wheel bearing, gotta clean my intake pipe, had to do rear passenger side diff seal & gotta diag my electric windows being unoperational. But even with all these issues & history of being bumraped by previous owners it still loves every second & has never broke down. I wanna do all a touring setup but ive got this year to fix up the bt & engine remap.

    Had the 07 PJ from new to 220k km, only a clutch and gearbox have needed replacing. The "map drawer" as it's called is very handy spot to have spare fuses 👍🍺🍻

    have a black Ford mica PJ08 3.0L dual cab since almost new, close to 270k now, great family car, changed drive belt around 170k and brakes, recently replaced injectors with new Bosch, did a few bearings and it feels like a brand new car, heaps of power !! I've heard the engines on these are better then the later generations (T6) with ceramic heads. def holding onto this car second Gen Ranger hit Aus it'll be a classic one day.

    I have a 2009 Pk and it's a great ute. Most expensive thing I've done in the 5 years I've had it was replacing the injectors at $1600. Engine has heaps of torque and I find it feels like it has more power than my parents PX3.

    Hey mate, a great video again! I enjoy all your content. Side note - I’m a Physio by trade. I spend a lot of time trying to educate people on the importance of not focusing on X-ray or imaging results re spinal curvatures like scoliosis. Like most things that give ongoing aches and pains it’s all about exercise management. Everyone’s story is different and I’m obviously not aware of yours, but in the majority of cases regular exercise reduces pain and empowers people to be able to do more and live life! Having said all that my ranger seats give me a sore back on long drives but aren’t too bad! Keep up the great work.

    I just recently bought this model Ranger but in a 2wd, highrider dual cab model, got 295k on clock and goes really good still, the 5 speed Auto a bit jerky, probably needs the solinoids adjusted, but that's all, I 100 percent agree with everything you say about the engine and car, just did a egr and cooler delete, wondering if I should install a catch can or not? Thanks so much for this video it's really informative 😊👍🍻

    I own a pk ,bloody great ute a torque monster. I did the ECU remap as well,similar BHP output but I churn 630 mn at the treds. Which has lead to clutch upgrade. If I were you , i would check your speedo against a GPS , I’ll guarantee it’s out. I run 31” tyres and my is out about 5-6 km/h at 100km/h so 32” tyres it will be even more. And not just your speedo,your odometer as well , I’ll bet your getting more than 420 km until the fuel light. Do you run a good quality catch can?you would be surprised how much oil you catch. Over 12 mths I collect about 600mls ,that would have ended up through my intercooler and ultimately in my inlet manifold👎 Anyway keep up the great work,love your hands on approach 👍

    • @antem77
      @antem77 2 роки тому

      Yep, same here with the catch can mate, it build up fairly quickly 👍
      Love my truck

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  2 роки тому

      630nm is insane, must pull like a beast up hills! Speedo is definitely out but not by a great deal surprisinly, 100km/h on dash works out to 105km/h through GPS. Excellent point regarding the odo implications too, hadn't thought of that so 5km/h difference at 100 would turn 420km to around 440!

      Yep there is a small area there, that's where the jack is stored in mine and doesn't have too much room left over unfortunately - clever idea to store recovery gear there though!

  • @originalrecko
    @originalrecko 2 роки тому +8

    100% agree with everything about the engine.
    EGR delete or at least regular monitoring the integrity of the EGR is a must on these.
    The timing belt is definitely another one to monitor. Change every 80-100k to ensure you don't get caught out.
    And when this is tuned, so fun. Absolutely the best, overlooked, simple ute. I would buy another in a heartbeat.
    BTW, great video covering all points. 👍

      Yeah, they need to be programmed to the ECU etc, which is not easy. Diesels are awesome until anything with the fuel system goes wrong, then you’re paying a third of the entire vehicles value to fix it.
