    Thanks for posting! This is the difference between a "Mechanical Engineer" and a "Fitter!"

      I'm glad I video this for you, there's no way you would have believe the amount of work that went into this bike. Definitely not a driveway job. 😂😉😣

    Real old school engineering - fixing stuff properly. Awesome series, you made it look so easy. I hope my Griso never needs that amount of work in one hit!

    The 8 valve motors look to be way more complex than the 4 valve. The oil pump gear wasn't plastic or nylon was it?

    With the very greatest of respect you turned a comparatively simple job into a huge, time consuming, disaster.
    I appreciate you work on many different types of vehicle. I know that salt on roads can cause corrosion issues. But taking the motor off the front of the gearbox? You opened yourself to a world of pain.
    Just start at the back and work forward. It's simple. On a Griso I, or my mechanic, can have a motive unit out and the gearbox off in a leisurely, I dunno, two hours max. No removal of the alternator or timing chest. Access to the swingarm bearings, which on this bike will certainly be ruined, along with at least some of the shock linkage bearings.
    With the swingarm out of the way, a matter of about twelve fasteners, the clutch slave is immediately accessible with none of the hassle you experienced.
    Sometimes, actually always with a Guzzi, trying to avoid removing one or two components can make an otherwise straightforward job an unholy disaster! I'm not criticising your work, truly, but your methodology is deeply flawed.

    Very well done and thank you for such an informative video!! can you please tell me where the clutch master cylinder is positioned? Thanks in advance!!

    • @melsmotors
      @melsmotors  Рік тому +1

      I Silvio, I guess you mean the clutch slave cylinder as the master cylinder is at the left lever! The slave cylinder is at the back of the gearbox between the back cover and the rear suspension, you can see it in this video ua-cam.com/video/IfAwUhQxKNM/v-deo.html at about 8.30 minutes.
      I hope this helps

    Have you got a video of a roller conversion from the flat tappet 8 valve engine. This would be essential viewing for those with the old flat tappet engine.

    Damn really nice work! Makes me dread the day if my Guzzi ever needs the clutch replaced. I'm on the other side of the pond but just curious if it was just a clutch replacement, no other issues with the bike, what would have something like that cost on this Griso?

    • @melsmotors
      @melsmotors  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your comments, there were no other issues with the bike. If you buy a spoked wheel version and ride it hard, the spokes tend stretch and then lets the air out of the wheels, the spokes have rubber 'O' rings for sealing, they are tubeless tyres! Thought you might want to know ☺

    Hi Mel, what a fantastic series of videos, I have a Griso and its in good order but watching these, although costly, I would take it to shop like yours myself. I have other older Guzzis and tinker with those but what a project this has been, fantastic work. Question, why so much detoriation with the nuts and threaded studs etc, is it the weather and salt thrown on the roads over there or just Guzzi with shitty quality materials? Great work mate. P.S. Guzzi are notorious for poor parts supply. Cheers, Glenn. Hunter Valley, Australia.

      Hi Glenn, Thanks for your feedback. Road salt is always an issue with all year round bikers, regardless of how often you wash the bike, it still gets into tight places. Steel into Ali is never a great combination, cheap screws with very weak coating. More videos coming and hit the bell notification 👍😊🏍
