- Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX®-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar® winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey, Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.
Academy Award® nominee Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber and Josh Hartnett plays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.
Oppenheimer also stars Oscar® winner Rami Malek and reunites Nolan with eight-time Oscar® nominated actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.
The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer is filmed in a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX® black and white analogue photography.
Nolan’s films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, have earned more than $5 billion at the global box office and have been awarded 11 Oscars and 36 nominations, including two Best Picture nominations.

Without a doubt, this is going to be Nolan's year to win both best director and screenplay during awards season.
Along with Martin Scorsese.
Both 2 of the best addresses this year.
Hopefully so
Bro. I rather take Scorsese, Lanthimos, Song or Shinkai over him without a doubt. But it's mostly a popularity contest.
YESSS! Nolan finally win! Totally deserved!
As Nolan fan, I am very happy 😃
With all due respect to Mr. Scorsese, this is Mr. Nolan's year
I consider myself one of Nolan's biggest fans, and after my sixth viewing, I do believe this is Nolan's magnum opus and one of the best films of this decade. I knew that I would be very hard on Killers of the Flower Moon, and I was, but Scorsese's virtuosity still found its way to win over me, and I weigh each of my words when I say Killers is the best movie of 2023 and it's better than Oppenheimer.
Do you know it can be more than one director's year in the same year? Crazy, isn't it?
@@mritunjaymusale If you’re both a Nolan fan and a Denis fan, you should be happy. It might only boost the chances of them both winning back to back Oscars.
@@prahladsethi76boy you lack a BRAIN in your skull.
1. You couldn’t understand OPPENHEIMER. (Obviously)
2. That’s why Scorsese wins. (That movie is boring)
If you take 1 still shot from OPPENHEIMER there’s story behind it. How oppie is thinking what he’s thinking ( if you understood the movie you’ll know)
NO SUCH THING IN killers of flower moon.
YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT CINEMA is. I GUARANTEE YOU THAT.
Oppenheimer was much better than KOTFM. In my opinion, Oppenheimer may be Nolan’s best work (neck and neck with Dunkirk) but KOTFM is far from Scorsese’s best. It also felt like Scorsese was going for a cash grab releasing it in IMAX whereas Oppenheimer was shot on film and made for IMAX and it showed. One of the best IMAX experiences I’ve ever had. Oppenheimer was super immersive in its storytelling. KOTFM, on the other hand, was not, so it felt a little bloated in parts. But that’s just my opinion :)
People will say this film or Christopher is overrated but let’s be real. What other director is really bringing people out their house to go watch a movie at the theaters? There’s only a handful that can do this & we should appreciate it. It’s so easy to talk behind a keyboard, i promise you it’s not easy. These professionals just make it look easy. It’s hours and hours of hard work during production to pull something like this off & years of work before to get the ball rolling.
Denis Villeneuve?? 👀
@@eduardopaniagua1806 It’s a rhetorical question but I did say only a handful and yes that would actually include him.
He's bringing people to the cinema because of his success with Batman and unique movies that he has done earlier. But lets get real and be honest, Nolan has issues with Sound Mixing for a while now and Oppenheimer didn't deliver on making us experience what it must have felt to see the first nuclear explosion in the theater. This movie made it look like a gasoline explosion. That was the Money Shot and it felt cheap. His refusal to use the aid of visual effects hindered that scene in particular. He is definitely a good director, he has been a poor judge of using his filmmaking tools for the last few movies. Goes to show the importance of first impressions. Nolan's Momento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight Triology & Inception cemented his place with the modern audience. But he really needs help in a few departments that's been letting him down lately.
@@AnirudhVinayLol sound mixing was great
I thought Oppenheimer was great but I do agree that the bomb explosion was a letdown @@AnirudhVinay
All of Nolan's films are extraordinary on another level, The Prestige, Dunkirk, Memento, Interstellar, Inception, the Dark Knight Trilogy and of course now this masterpiece, the list of amazing works just goes on and on.
Not Insomnia though, that was average at best.
This is one of those movies that moves you and stays with you for a while, which is quite a remarkable achievement for one. A phenomenal piece of art this is.
Best film of the year..go ahead and give him the Oscar!
How has this man not won an Oscar for best film or director yet ?
Yeah should have won one for Dark Knight, he got robbed 😒
_@khanage360,_ let's put it this way: _@dimitryanyanwu_ is really closer to be right than you are.
Didn't deserve it any other year.
Nolan should've won for other movies like Memento, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk and Inception
But glad he finally won for Oppenheimer
@@rafaelc.c. Hater!
Nolan and Scorsese are the best directors. Oppenheimer and Killers of the flower Moon were both magnifecent
What other directors gives people in 5-7-10 yrs
Nolan give that in every 3 year
A masterpiece
Hoyte said it "Chris outdid himself in many ways"...couldn't agree more
Directors like Nolan is keeping cinema alive!!!
i dunno what's more impressive; convincing all these actors to do a movie about ppl talking in rooms, or actually making it all engaging.
Best picture of our time
Of his time..
Christopher Nolan should Direct Bond 26, which should have these things: Tom Hardy as 007, Cillian Murphy as the villain, & Marion Cotillard as the Bond Girl.
The dedication and attention to details at each and every step is just mindblowing. ❣
just give him the oscar already.
one of the greatest directors in modern times
Needless to say, I LOVE it!
Can't wait for Oppenheimer 2
Hope it’s Nolan’s and Cillians year! Have an awful feeling Scorsese will get it just because he is who he is. As we all know it’s not about fairness etc. It’s politics and show BUSINESS….. Fingers crossed
Best director 2023!
Thank you🙏💕
Where can i see the Oppenheimer release date timer video.. That video sound was so good😢❤ but where the the video

I m big fan of chris movie… but he hurt my feeling the way he show baggvad gita…
Martin Scorsese is overdue for a 2nd Oscar.
And Nolan is overdue for a 1st Oscar

The prime example of spectacularly bad dialogue mixing. Film schools must have this in syllabus to teach as to how not to mix dialogue and music!
5th😊
He's a damn good director but I've always felt overhyped. Scorsese the GOAT.

Somebody didn’t understand the first 5 mins of OPPENHEIMER.
