Great informative video! I replaced my Blue Spring with a new housing & O ring for my ‘05 F350 6.0L about 6 months ago. I immediately noticed quicker throttle response & about 2-4 mpg improvement.
I was surprised that you didn’t replace the O ring on your truck considering the problem with the water pump.
I watch Joe (Living On Wheels) & Cody (Powerstroke Project) as well. Both are great guys & do a great job on their channels!
Thanks for all you do making your videos!
Thanks man, wanted to take a risky chance lol...
I agree you think he would have learned from the water pump o ring
If you're going to do this, spend a little more, get the FRX from RiffRaff.
Also, get rid of that cover and bracket. Totally unneeded, gets in the way and keeps you from seeing the condition of things.
I just looked into FRX mod and I kinda want to, I think I’ll get it for research purposes lol but $25 and $200 is a big difference not a little, I like that cover, I devoted to much time to make that one work haha
Just did the spring on my truck and what a difference, smoother idle better throttle response, also seems to have a tad bit more power.
Which spring you use? What year 7.3?
@@FixItNick the same spring you just installed
It's a 2001 F-250
I got a 55psi, 62psi, and a 70 psi plus the o rings from riff raff diesel for 12.99 haven't installed yet so I can't say how they perform but seems like a better bang for your buck
Fuel pressure before and after the chan 23:51 ge thanks for checking and getting a reading before and after
Nice video man! I am honestly amazed that stupid Viton seal didn't leak after you reused it! I've had a brand new one leak on me, so I would get a spare, but not install it if it's not leaking. Others are right if you keep the stock fuel system RiffRaff's frx is a very nice addition. I am not surprised that the truck seems to run smoother on the top end. These injectors thrive with good fuel and oil pressure. The common term for the noise you were trying to describe is injector cackle. tapping into the 2 other fuel ports on the heads with either the frx or another fuel system will help even more with cackle. Another great and cheap mod is the high-pressure oil crossover line to equalize the oil pressure between the heads. That will also make a big difference on smoothing the engine down. Great video!!
I just looked into FRX mod and I kinda want to, I think I’ll get it for research purposes lol
@@FixItNick Strictly scientific reasoning!
Congratulations on 70k Nick.
Thx sir
Great video Nick-very informative and a good watch, looking forward to hearing the exhaust mod!
Thanks bro, You have no idea how badly I want to get the exhaust on. Stupid 60 hours night shifts
That is truly the best Spring out there the one from sinister is too stiff and the 1 that Ford offers a is still too weak I have the exact same 1 in my truck and I love it
Did yours improve Mpg? I just did mpg results video vs stock and got worse :((
Yes but mine also has the fuel bowl plunger removed and a tow tune on it. For that spring the computer will have to relearn the amount of fuel its returning, that mod is best if u disconnect the battery for about a hour to reset the adaptive strategy and will take a tank or 2 to turn it. Also it throttle should be more sensitive to so staying off the skinny pedal is a lil harder.
The 2 next best thing to do to that truck is a 4 inch stainless exhaust and a tune. Flo pro offers a great turbo back full stainless exhaust for that truck for about $450 and the hydra tuner is $250.you will see hug mpg jump with those 2 upgrades.
Hell yeah like that shout out to living on wheels! Much love!
Sounded like a 6.4 starter when I where drilling 😂
Nick i watched the whole video your really stressing me out with your boldness to drive on E you scetchy boy
Im very stressed rightnow because our house dosent have power and more stuff goodthing you posted this vid i can relax
Quionda
That sucks, glad you enjoyed, are my vids that relaxing?? Lol
I always enjoy your videos
HELLCAT 326 thx bro it’s humbling
Riff raff makes a cool rfx unit for return fuel from heads.
I just looked into FRX mod and I kinda want to, I think I’ll get it for research purposes lol
I know it's been a year since this was posted but I will say this it's smoothed out my idol and it takes the air back to the fuel bowl instead of sending it through the injectors I can't say enough about it it's one of the best upgrades I've done
Gotta love that small screw gun I have two of them one like the one you have n one from harbor freight both have bailed me out more than once
Yes really helpful, I use it all the time
Many congratulations on 70k 🎉🎊👌🎊🎂👌 great mod buddy definitely made a huge difference, so worth every dollar.... Nearly said penny, 🤣 I fantastic that you test each mod too so we know what works 👌 heres to another 70 k👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thx sir, I’m all about scientific research haha
Icp sensor looks like it could use a new pigtail. Mine left me on the side of the road just saying. Great videos!
Hey man, I just changed my icp, but I used the old pigtail. Should I change it? I cleaned the oil out with contact cleaner.
@@dicktater4801 mine also left me on the side of the road on a cross country trip. I know this was posted a year ago but if there is any oil in that plug change the pigtail.
I did mine in the parking lot of an O'Reilly's in some random town in New Mexico. Unfortunately that meant aftermarket (only one in stock) and no heat shrink tubing. I just crimped and electrical taped it all. It worked. It definitely needs to be cleaned up though and done right.
60 to 65 psi at idle and 53 psi is the minimum under wide open throtel.
Nick, the only diesel engine I have is on my Kubota tractor, but I thoroughly enjoy your adventures. I can watch your videos and not get my hands greasy.
What is the light on the upper left corner of the instrument panel? Looks to be adjacent to the Amp gage
Thats a low fuel light haha
Glad you enjoy, talking about the low fuel light?
I replaced the whole pintle and seat assembly there is an oring that getts flat in the filter housting between between seat and filter assembly there is an oline in the fuel line as well.
The diesel drains from the fuel bowl into the valley and down onto the back of the engine block....
You can always flush with fresh water after the fuel drips into the valley.
The bowl doesnt drain into the valley, there is a drain tube
@@FixItNick I guess my 1999 F250 Super Duty (actually a 98.5/99 model year) was an anomaly then....
You might as well change parts that are inside there anyhow. Mine was bypassing more fuel than should have. I bought the frx kit from riffraff.
Nice upgrade
I did one on my 02.what a mess.snapped a screw removing it. Than broke the threads off in the compression nut reinstalling it. BUY WHOLE KIT. Includes housing, screws,O rings and spring. Dont even try to do this without the kit in hand
Dang that sucks
Have you considered the hutch and harpoon mod??? Every 7.3 should have it done. I’m your case I’d drop the tank. With my 250 I’m just taking the bed off with a few friends and getting into the tank from above.
I removed my tank.
My plastic pickup foot was in a million pieces so I cleaned out the tank..
Do you have to drain the fuel bowl before taking apart?
Brill as always.
Thanks bro
The higher fuel pressure probably atomizes the fuel better hence the smoother running engine.
Yes I agree
Enjoyed it 👍
Good video. A suggestion for you though. Try keeping your fuel above 1/4 tank. Fuel pump has to work a lot harder when its below 1/4 tank and dousnt cool as good.
Yes I agree, I usually refill a half, wanted to see if full tank will last me 2 weeks and it did lol
@@FixItNick nice haha
Fuel pump isn’t in the tank in these trucks but I agree on a gas car
That spring is no longer available. Know where else I can get it?
Hi that old spring can be origin of a clunking noise?
Kept waiting for you to run out of fuel. You were sitting on empty bro.
Hey I have been having trouble with my 97 7.3 it run like crap and then some times it runs amazing it also has a tune from 97 on it
It can be many things hard to know
Check your grounds and add some on the trans and transfer case. I had same issue grounds were old and brittle
It might do better if there was more fuel in it. Lol jk. Awesome video thanks keep up the good work. Love the videos
Lol I need to launch higher maybe. Or do from 10mph instead
Great video nick
Do people ever remove spring altogether?
Id like to know myself
if u want 0 fuel pressure go for it loll
@FixitNick - The link to the "Fuel Pressure Spring" is broken.
The what?
@@FixItNick - Was pointing out that the hyperlink (that you posted) to the Fuel Pressure Spring is broken "not working". No worries, I found and ordered straight from their website (got it today in the mail).
Probably a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyways.
I have a 2000 F350 and I plan to do the fuel bowl delete with regulated return. If I do that I'm assuming I shouldn't bother with this because it's going away with the fuel bowl?
I'm a total newb but have slowly been learning. I just did my waterpump, fan clutch, and replaced my degas bottle.
Idk but my fuel empty light comes on way before yours does apparently or yours isn't working.
Edit: oh yours did come on!
Yea mine does, not anyone with FRX system and the gold medium spring (comes with 3 springs)
It shaved a few seconds off not bad
MPGs decreases tho :((
👌✌️😎
Thx
Hope you didn't run out of fuel..lol
You noticed that too😂
He's taking a big risk running his fuel that low. It'll introduce air into the fuel system. Been there, done that. Not fun
Is it just me, or does Nick look like a pale HULK?
Lol trying to think of it as a compliment haha
YOU ARE WORSE THAN I AM ABOUT STAYING UP LATE OR EARLY..... I STILL WANT TO BUY THE TRUCK AND TURN IT INTO A FULL KING RANCH MODIFICATION A NEW TRUCK WITH NOS ASSEMBLY LINE PARTS FROM A NOS TRUCK NEVER REGISTERED. CANT USE THE FRAME BUT GOT A 100% NOS TRUCK DISPLAY. RUNS AND DRIVES WHEN IT WENT INTO THE NEW CONTAINER. OH WELL...
Haha if you want it that bad I’ll sell it to you in 2020
Fuel pressure should be no more than 70psi idle. You will shorten life of injectors. Btw I've done 95 Too 100mph in my truck.
Wow, SMH
Waste of money for return on investment. Fix your fuel sender instead of this stuff.
What’s wrong with sender? Lol
get some fuel man your empty
