    Copper always pinholes in the end. So much destruction to fix. Some people like to reroute overhead but its not always possible. For future builds, if pipes HAVE to go inside the slab then it's best to run PEX inside some PVC conduit. It probably will never fail since plastic is non reactive. If it does, well you put it in conduit so cut the PEX at both ends and pull a new length though. Few hours and your good to go without any destruction. I don't envy having to do that work. Good stuff

    I might have done this type of repair once in my life. Ever since that time i have eliminated that loop. Two reasons...how do you plan on repairing that section? How do you explain to the customer that 3 weeks later another pinhole leak opened a foot away on the same exact pipe after they patched with concrete and did floor over. No bueno

    Thanks so much for this. Well done!
    I definitely have a slab leak in my backyard concrete. Luckily it's out in the open. I have a good idea exactly where it is because I had a pinhole repair in that area a few years ago and water is seeping up through the concrete cracks. I'm thinking the whole 30' run of lateral copper pipe should be replaced, not just a spot repair.
    Can a new pipe be run without removing 30' of concrete? Or how about running Pex underground..like bore a hole first? Or running Pex through the inside of the existing copper pipe (which I saw someone on youtube do). ps. The waterline goes to my guesthouse.

    Why not just reroute thru the ceiling from manifold to manifold?

    • @um8440
      @um8440 Рік тому

      Because owner didnt want to pay more, and job security, it will leak again at diff place and they will call again, all of them call me i tell them got to reroute but it cost more but they just want cheap fix.

    Dude I’m so mad; literally just had my hardwood floors refinished too and plumbers are doing the exact same thing throughout my house to replace the entire water service line due to massive underground leak (galvanized steel) 😢 $50k project 😩

      50k? you aint paying for it, the ins company is paying for it tho.

      @@um8440nah, I paid cold hard cash, man. Ins co covered $12k thanks to me opting for service line coverage when I got the policy. But yea-ins typically won’t cover main Svc line and if you do have the endorsement-it’s only up to a specific limit.
