R.I.P. Brad Renfro (1982-2008)
One of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel. Very unsettling and underrated. Ian McKellen is superb.

@@chuck9483Nah. Shining isnt great. But Shawshank Redemption is. Which is oddly enough the same novel as this book. As well as Stand By Me. So between the 3 Id say this novel is better. Especially since Shawshank is rated as the best movie of all time by many sites and critics.
@@chuck9483 not even close. Have you read The Shining? It's a great movie but to say that it's the best adaptation of his novel is a stretch. Even King himself isn't a fan
@@denissele938 yeah well it's an "adaptation" not an exact retelling. Kubrick made the shining way better. I read it. I t was terrible.
@@denissele938Yeah King did hate the movie but he did admit there were good parts, the reason why Kubrick didn't follow the book was because to him showing those scenes on screen would be silly unlike the book which the reader can imagine.
As a big movie fan it always surprises me how many movies I missed over the years. Never heard of this one
This movie was unbelievably entertaining! I remember I saw it at the theater and I was just stunned about how good it was that actor Brad Renfro what a shame his death was very shocking at such a young age

Because of Bryan Singer, the director. He directed this movie and the first two X-Men films. He also directed the "sequel/prequels" starting from First Class.
Directors often work with the same actors. Christopher Nolan & Christian Bale. Quentin Tarantino & Samuel L Jackson. Tim Burton & Johnny Depp. Martin Scorsese & Robert De Niro.

Finally reading the book, then I'll watch this. Stephen Kings shorter books usually do make better movies.

If you listen to this interesting film score starting from 1:12 to 1:38, it's from Jerry Goldsmith's film score of Kurt Russell's 1996 action film Executive Decision.

I have it on VHS, and it's definitely a must-watch. Despite what certain critics have said.
Read the book first. It just makes the movie all the better. Very psycho like but the only death is the mind.
I describe it as misery without the kidnapping and binding and the shining without ghosts. Creepy as heck.

Easy to forget when it (a) isn't strictly a horror story and (b) it came and went upon its theatrical release.
Yes he did you can find it in the book different seasons where he has four stories one of them is Stand By Me the other one is Shawshank Redemption and the last apt pupil I forget the last story but you can't go wrong with three stories like that so don't forget the book is called different seasons

I hated this movie when it came out , my dad said it was a Stephen King story so i expected the obvious
Now i need to see it in my 40s and after reading the Novella , im sure it will be different now
