  • Here is the latest from ThruNite with their TN42 V2 flashlight kit. This dedicated thrower is amazing and its because its sporting the Luminus SBT-90.2 LED. The spill area is very wide and hot spot is super intense. Also this is all made possible because ThruNIte included four 21700 cells which will give you all the power needed plus very nice runtimes on turbo. This uses a powerful wall Type C charger to quickly get you back up and going. Solid and rugged build quality is what you come to expect from ThruNite which they deliver here with the TN42 V2. The TN42 V2 easily out shined my testing area as well. I did a comparison on turbo against both the Nitecore TM39 and the ThruNite TN42 V2 to cut thru the chase. These both have excellent runtimes and light outputs are close as well with the TM39 @ 5200 lumens vs the TN42 V2 @ 4848 lumens. TM39 is rated @ 1500 meters while the TN42 V2 is rated @ 1860 meters. Please tell me what you think of both these top notch dedicated throwers in the comments below or who you thought did better. I own both the Thrunite TN42 V2 and the Nitecore TM39 and like them both for different reasons, they are both great throwers! I like the 4 21700 batteries of the Thrunite and the fact they can be swapped out during an expedition but the Nitecore is a different beast with up to date screen technology, ok the power pack gives great runtime on a hungry beast but the disadvantage is when it dies you can’t swap it out, probably should have opted for the lite version, still one of my favourite flashlights and I’m a fan of throwers.

  • @Brennonicolini

    Cool. Just a small correction. When speaking throwers only, warm white is the better choice. 3000k or even 2700k. Blue light scatters way more in the atmosphere than red light. That being said, there’s only so much warmer you can go before you start losing lumens… I believe around 4000k is a pretty good compromise. That’s why I chose the NW BLF GT when it first came out.

    • @CharlesBridgTec
      @CharlesBridgTec  3 роки тому +9

      Actually 6000k-6500k is ideal for dedicated throwers for it offers the most lumen output over the NW version. You can see much farther with CW than you can NW. I, myself love the 5k which is best for most conditions both in flood and combination beam patterns. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Ernesto Tabujara from the Philippines. Ive had the tn42 since 2019 and the catapault v6. The main features of thrunite based on my personal experience are the extreme wide spill. Even if these lights are throwers the spill makes them usable even at short to med ranges. The other feature i like about thrunite is the very efficient use of battery power, they last very long without need for recharging. Great review Charles im getting one for myself.

      I have both of these lights along with the catapult, pro along with the K 75 2.0. You can’t go wrong with any of these lights to be honest. They all have their own characteristics in my thoughts with the K 705, 2.0 throws 2500 m, it doesn’t have a port to charge the batteries. Everything has to be physically taken out to charge the light. Also carrying around that K 75 2.0 it’s a tad big lol. Where as the TM 39 throws 1600 m, but with the short body and the easy fast charging capabilities, makes it a pleasure to use. Same with the charging on the TN 42 V2. And as you said, they hold their charge very well. The beauty of the TM 39 is the capabilities of running it on turbo for sustained times, which is much longer than any of the lights were talking about here. everyone of these lights have their own beauty to them. It’s preference. I’m happy to say I have them all along with another great light the Manker MK 35.-ll. if you get a chance check that light out it throws 2000 m and is pushing 1 million Candela, which is incredible for its size.

    Good review as always. I have the Catapult V6 with HXP 35 HI. For me it's the upper limit of a practical size light. I hear that the batteries are proprietary for this light from Thrunight for no good reason and cost twice as much. The light could be modified to function with different batteries byt you shouldn't need to. Thrunight used batteries with a positive and negative pole on one end, then added an insulating ring in the head of the light so the negative pole won't contact.

    Hi Charles. I think that both lights are wonderful. I definitely agree with you that the spill areas are really important. I'm not a fan of the LEP flashlights or LED ones without a spill. You just really need to see what's going on around you as much as you can.
    Also, I can get on board with your chuckle, because that's exactly what I do when you show the full power of these torches. Excellent review as always. It would be really useful to have a list of flashlights that use the SBT90.2 LED. Take care mate.

    Charles, I just ran your video on the comparison between the TM 39 and the TN 42 V2. I ran this video off of my QD Sony OLED TV and took photos of the night shots to the furthest palm trees . I could send you these photos but in the photos it looks and shows the TN 42 V2 has a tighter beam not as broad as the TM 39. This kind of surprised me but I’m just going by your night shots, and what I was able to take photographs off of on my QD, which is top-of-the-line TV set to be broadcasting these videos off of. so my conclusion from what I saw and what I took photos off of the screen the beam on the TM 39 is wider which is something I never thought would be. They’re both incredible lights. I have both of them as you know, but if I had a choice just because of design looks and duration of turbo it would be the TM 39. I still love my Thunite TN42 V2 wouldn’t give it up for anything lol.💪🔦👏

      @@CharlesBridgTec Charles it definitely runs longer on turbo it’s a much nicer design than the TN 42 V2. The TM 39 is my favorite light. It’s gorgeous easy to carry especially with the short body that I have. What I did was froze the frames when you were hitting the furthest, palm trees, and the palm trees to the right. They are both beautiful lights, but if I had to make a pic which I don’t thank God. Well, my pic would be the TM 39 to keep. Hey listen I have the K 75 2.0 love it just don’t like to carry it around as much as I like that TM 39. And I don't consider the v2 a true improvement. Much higher output on turbo and slightly better throw. But a large stepdown after some minute.
    TN42 XHP35HI has almost stable output on turbo for more than 1 hour.
    XHP35HI version puts out more lumens and has better throw during continious run!

    Thanks for the review. I think this TN42 is the base standard that you'll want to start off with if you are stepping into the elite level throwers based on the SBT90.2.... There's a huge difference between the budget SBTs like the Convoy, Astrolux and Noctigon lights, versus when you jump to the Acebeams, ThruNites and Nitecores.... But if you're already stepping into the $300+ range, IMHO, with the minimal price difference, I would say the Acebeam K75 is a superior light compared to the ThruNite TN42, while the Nitecore TM39 seems overpriced compared to the aforementioned two.

      @@CharlesBridgTecI just bought this one on Amazon. It ran me a little more than what I wanted to pay but I wanted this for my collection. it reminds me of a big Mac with a Ferrari engine. I also received today my Manker 35 Oh my God, Charlie, you have to test this life. I think everyone of these lights from my K 75/TM 39/Thrunite That I will be receiving on Monday have their place in the monster thrower world. The beauty of the NITECORE is the way you have the ease of charging and the same thing with the Thrunite and it’s super fast charging. Yes the K 75 is the king of throwers at 2600 m. I haven’t loved that light but they each have their own quality and I think you understand that better than I do. My favorite still is the TM 39. It looks like a Ferrari on steroids I just picked up my first American light, surefire EDC2 turbo a little pocket rocket with 100,000 Candela at 700 lm. Charlie, that little sucker does not get hot on the body at all and it runs on a 18650 that really lets that light run on Turbo for over 30 minutes without heating up. No it doesn’t throw as far as these king of throws. But it’s capable of 100,000 Candela and 700 m of throw in a tiny little body. I must say the packaging comes in is kind of cheesy for spending $300 on a 6 inch torch. I had to get that one like I said it’s my first American pocket rocket. Hi Charles, I really appreciate your reviews. At 12:30 you say cool white is better for throwers. I don't have much experience but physics say blue (-ish) light is scattered more in the air than other components of the visible spectrum. So I just suspect cool white thrower's beam is more spectacular but neutral white light's higher proportion will reach the target and there will be less disturbing blue fog between you and the target. What do you think?

    • @CharlesBridgTec
      @CharlesBridgTec  3 роки тому +2

      CW will always be brighter than NW. 6500k is actually best for throwers which shows lumen output to the naked eye as well as candela ratings and lux meter testing. I prefer 5000k for all my light other than dedicated throwers. This also go for LEP flashlights as well. Thanks for watching!

    • @deltawing9
      @deltawing9 3 роки тому +1

      @@CharlesBridgTec Thank you Charles for your answer, I understand this is your preference. Still I think if our target is to illuminate a distant object, nw is better than cw. With cw we see amazing light beam, but we see less from the target, because of the scattered bluish light.

    • @CharlesBridgTec
      @CharlesBridgTec  3 роки тому +3

      @@deltawing9 Actually its the opposite of NW. CW will better illuminate a target farther away than NW when it comes to dedicated throwers CW is best for lumen output as well which is why they come in CW. I agree with you liking NW but performance wise CW is best for this type of beam pattern.
