W G the 40R is a nice light but it gets hot fast and won't run on turbo long before getting too hot. The 36R is a superb light and I have to say overall I like it better than my 40R. That's just my opinion though
Supposedly the PD 36R has further throw which is more important to me I have the 36R why bother getting a 40Rif it doesn’t have further throw down to 36 R
@@PassaicRiverFishing it definitely doesn't throw farther than the 36R, at least the original version doesn't. The V2 might throw as far with a bit more coverage because the candela output on the 40R V2 is a lot higher than the original 40R
Thanks for a thorough review. I have been jogging with my dog at night for up to 1.5 hours each time. Would you say this is pretty comfortable to hold onto for that? I think the size and weight are perfectly fine; I'm more concerned about potential heat if the flashlight has been on at 3000 or 1000 lumens for an extended period of time.
Turbo has a limited times due to heat and will cycle to high. 500 lumens to 1000 lumens is plenty of light but again it will still get very warm which is normal. Thanks for watching!
Ended up returning it for the PD36R- I found out after having it that TURBO will not work when battery is below 80%- this is really useless for me - this was confirmed from the company! They are trying to get a battery to make it last longer- I would rather have the PD36R turbo is 1600 lumens but works for almost all of the battery capacity!
Well turbo is not design to run constantly. The PD36R will cycle down from 1600 lumens to 800 lumens verses the 1000 lumens the PD40R v2 does more light output longer using the same 21700 cells are used in the same light. The PD36R will not stay on turbo longer than 2 minutes which the step down is gradual. I think you got turbo and high mixed up. The PD36R has good throw but the PD40R beats its in throw. I think you would be happy with either Fenix just don't buy a light based on turbo outputs. Thanks for watching!
I have not had this issue and when I contacted them about this as well they never heard of it. The turbo light output is double so of coarse on turbo the light will drain the battery faster. Hi everyone! Can you recommend the best couple of lights that fill my requirements? I need the body of the light to be 1” to fit a mount that fits a pictinny rail of an AR 15. I would like bright as possible, approximately 1500+ lumen. Have a minimum of 1000m of throw. A nice concentrated beam, not a flood. Would like to be able to use it on high setting for 1 hr minimum. The length of the light less than 12” long. The bezel of the lense needs to be 2.5” or less. Rechargeable larger size battery for max run time. Lastly, able to use rear mounted pressure pad switch that I can mount on a grip 5” away from light. If anyone has good suggestion, please let me know, thanks!
Good job as usual with presentation , but for me i find it a little to big for EDC , even most 18650's are to bulky , and you also said good performance, with no heat sinking? I liked the the profile of beam but you know that thing will heat up quickly in turbo so it really is just a 1000lm light with a nice beam profile...turbo for fun and show off purpose only 😆

how long, roughly, will that this hold at 3,000 Lumins?
About 30 seconds. Thanks for watching!
Man, change test location please !!!
No. Thanks for watching!
I bought one on aliexpress, it didn't last a week, it stopped working, I lost confidence in the Fenix
If you bought it from there its most likely a clone. You can verify this from a Fenix website. Thanks for watching!
nice

I’ve been using Fenix lights for over 10 years, they are well made & very reliable but, they don’t seem to produce any really good throwers ! 3000 lumens & only 405 M distance is a little disappointing ! Good video though .
Check out the HL18 from Fenix. Thanks for watching!
Thank you but, HL18 is a headlamp !
My bad I meant HT18 from Fenix. Check it out.
It’s going to be fine, Thank you
they just came up with a new tk30 which is a white laser light with a 1200 meter distance. it's pretty expensive cause it's an lep light, but it looks awesome

Wow...
I don’t know what Fenix was thinking with this interface. I have the PD36R and I couldn’t imagine having to fumble rotary switch with preset from off. Great review, horrible user interface for this one FENIX.

I own a fenix PD32 flashlight and I would like to tell all not to buy the flashlight… they have issues with the switch that turns the light on and off… it is very fragile and mine will not work. I had to get a new switch and now the second switch is broke with the same issue … I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND !!!!

This can do 405 meters. Take care.
The plastic inlay looks very cheap for a 100usd light. Olight packaging looks more quality imo
Plastic? LOL. If you say so. SMH Thanks for watching!
Both are plastic. Olight is white, this is clear. That's the difference.. wouldn't say cheaper packaging
I've owned 7 Fenix flashlights. I tried a Olight. I used it for a couple days than sold it....I use my lights 75 times a night everynight for work. I don't care about the name on the side, it just needs to perform.
Can’t go wrong with either brand. Neither is cheap
👍

looks great.....but made in China......
